Yea or Nay?

Sure.
>drinking eggnog
Wtf is amaretto?
>>7145572
I'd be willing to try it.
Spiced Rum is best though.

I've never tried it but I love the taste of amaretto so I'd give it a shot. In fact, I think I'll try it myself when I make eggnog this year.
The problem though is that since Amaretto is a lower ABV it'll lack that kick that comes from making it with bourbon.

In nice terms it tastes like a mix of vanilla and almond.

It's not that I'm a purist, but I use brandy. Only because I use brandy just for boudin noir or bouef bourniguinon. So why not use it, I guess.
Advocaat all the way
sometimes we put frangelico on chocolate icecream

I used Alton Brown's recipe. 5 days in the fridge now. Gonna wait two more week though.

>Amaretto in eggnog:
Nay. It changes the spirit of the flavors to something else. Ponche (and rompope) is the latin christmas eggnog and it varies far off the track, using canned sweetened condensed milk and no eggs in nearly every latin country and the flavors vary, from anise from the alcohol to nutmeg, coffee, orange flavors, and coconut.
It's always rum, or brandy, or local versions of 151 with zero taste other than sugar.
Amaretto has a cherry flavor from the peach kernel pits (it's not actually almonds).
It's no longer eggnog, that got spiked, but amaretto and cream. And ridiculously sweet.
Horchata is the shit
Just made my eggnog for Christmas through New Years today. Love the stuff. Makes Christmas so much more bearable.

my gf often orders an armadillo sour from bars, and I just can't bring myself to correct her

I mean, if you're out of brandy.
Why did you let yourself run out of brandy, Anon?
I like rum in egg nog.
