I work at a sushi restaurant so we attract some pretty bad weebs. One of them, with blue hair and acne to style, was shouting loudly about how gluten free is stupid right after the table next to his had requested something gluten free. One of the waitresses asked him to kindly talk quieter (its a real small restaurant). He proceeded to shout about his second amendment right, how censorship is killing small businesses (or something like that, I didnt really understand), then started shouting about how offended he was that a waitress would offer to give him a fork instead of chopsticks. I along with the other sushi chef ran out from the bar and told him to leave then had to drag him by his arms and threaten calling the police.
Tl:dr got to drag a /pol/ weebo out of the restaurant I work at

She's already called twice to complain.

Working in the breakfast kitchen of a 5 Star restaurant right now, the customers are mostly surprisingly pleasant to deal with. The Russians and Locals (Austrians) are the worst thought. The Russians straight up order in Russian without any sign I understand it (I do) without any manners, grab a fuckton and are overall pretty rude and Austrians sometimes get all pissy I talk english to them, because its not like this is an international restaurant.

My native language is Russian (I'm ukrainian), and I speak german and english, so it's not that many, but most cooks aren't really language prodigies, so 3 is a lot for them.
It was just a nice bonus that I speak those, because after my first year in training I wont be handling customers directly at all.

And let me tell you one thing I've learned so far about five star hotels... they are bullshit. Some of the things we sell for like 15€ are worth 2€ at best and served in 2,5 minutes.

I suggest to you, if you have free time and enjoy books, read "Down and Out in Paris and London", written by George Orwell. Talks about his experience in elite Parisian hotels, in the kitchens. What you say about quality / price is claimed in his book as well. Very interesting insights about hotel culture.

Besides all that it's just a fun book.

The book isn't so much about the poetry of his writing. It's the topics and situations that are the focus. So German would be fine, I think.

All I know about international cuisine is that French is held in the highest regard. So, as basically the "mother" of great cuisine, it's probably just natural to use french names for things.

I haven't worked in a fine restaurant, so this is just my personal estimate.

I think if you can cook, you can cook. The "fine dining" part is the easiest to learn, probably, if you know the rest. And the people there are also not what you'd expect them to be. Our kitchen is run mostly by 17-22 year olds with a few people around 30, all of them pretty fucked up, loud and as childish as it gets. I mean the food is handled responsibly and the products are good, but in the end, its just your regular kitchen.

Definitely brown people. I work at a turkish gyro restaurant. I do everything from phones to cashier to grill but typically phones. Habibis are savages, they just yell in to the phone what they want incorrectly and never want to let you speak to take their name/phone number. Don't tip at all or worse than jews, and always call back to complain how long its taking or etc.

Second most frustrating is old people. One time this old bitch calls to order delivery, and everything is fine when at the end she mentions last time we gave her diet coke instead of regular and she tells me she kept it and wants us to send the regular coke. Tells me last time she ordered was a week ago and that she didnt call the day the mistake was made. I checked her order history and it was actually 1 month ago. At this point I just asked her if she kept the food from a month ago too and she hung up lul.
