Tetrahedral cartons save more space than pyramid. They can be stacked and packed more firmly than a pyramid shape can. I'm not sure I explain well in English why this is the case, but I'll try: with a pyramidal or regular tetrahedral shape, tessellation isn't possible IE there will always be gaps of space. With an irregular tetrahedral shape, such as the one shown in >>7084051, cartons can be packed more tightly in a crate or case, making for easier transport.
