What does /ck/ think of my 3:30am onion rings?

Certainly look like onion rings (y)
Why are onion rings so difficult for so many people?
At my last restaurant I was pretty much the only cook who could put out consistently good quality onion rings, as opposed to stuck together, half the batter falling off, burnt pieces of shit.
It's not really that much different than anything else on fry.
My fucking chef would have me stick around and make a third pan or two of par cooked onion rings so the people working after me would basically have pre-made shit they just had to heat up.

*a third pan or two of par cooked onion rings to throw in the freezer

They're just a hassle to make in my opinion.
Making the breading, dipping them, getting all that shit in on your hands.
The main issue I have is is the oil getting so gross and murky after a few rings, so I only make a serving at a time or so. I used a cast iron skillet and vegetable oil. Too poor for olive oil right now.
They were pretty damn tasty, though.

Who makes onion rings in olive oil? jesus wet

I don't know.
I do all my frying in a skillet with an inch of oil or so. Fries, wings, onion rings, whatever. I've always thought olive oil is a better choice over vegetable oil, but alas I cook with what I can afford.
Perhaps I'm wrong in that regard.

Is this just OP bumping his own thread, or are there anons out there who actually think those look good?
I'm never going to complain about people posting OC, but the entire point of being able to post on an anonymous board is to get honest criticism and have no reason to get upset.

I don't know what you're on about but I think those look pretty good. I'm slightly drunk at 7:20 am est and I'd devour those given the chance.
