We should have a thread about satay, or food on sticks in general. Because it's fucking great.

Post recipes, tell stories, mourn the loss of satay street, whatever.

God I went to a malaysian food festival at my uni a few years ago, so good, dem SEA know how to make food
>>
This is how I make peanut sauce, makes a small bowlful and it's piss easy. Don't just treat it as a dip for meat, try making fried rice, noodles, or stir fried vegetables with it.

250g smashed peanuts
1 diced red onion
2 garlic cloves
2 tbsp cane sugar
2 minced chillies
4 tbsp coconut cream

Those last three are to taste really, but the amounts are an average guess.

Fry everything in oil for 5 - 10 mins.
Add a splash of soy sauce and enough water to cover.
Simmer for 10 - 15 mins until thick.

Street vendors selling satay sticks is the number one thing I miss about Malaysia.

Satay bump.

any time I order beef on a stick from a chinese place the meat is grey and it is chewier than my ass. It even made my dog throw up. At cookouts my sisters think they cool with the fucking shish kabobs. They pretty good. I need more food on stick in my life. Crab Kalash perhaps?

I should rename that to Thai chicken satay, but too late, already posted.

Do chicken hearts on a skewer Brasilian style count as a satay?

Waste of a good satay tbqh with you family...
>>

I'm not really sure. Satay seems to solely refer to the peanut sauce thing for most people, but it seems like the original word might just mean grilled meat on sticks.

>>
Can you make satay with peanut butter?
>>
>>7068513
Yeah, it's probably the easiest way. I find it too goopy though, I prefer just smashing some whole peanuts up.

It's a bunch of Asian college kids eating take-out.

Basil sounds like an odd combination with this sort of thing, but then I guess thai people use it.
