That's scary. I didn't drink that much but I drank around 7-10 drinks everyday for around 4 years before I finally wised up. I still drink about 3 beers a night but I don't think that's that dangerous. I had some health scares but nothing that ended up being related to alcohol. My latest one is what made me end up cutting back - tingles that I thought were alcoholic neuropathy, but was probably a work related injury pinching a nerve or something.

Drink to sleep every night for 16 years, no organ damage yet. I just keep waking up.

I'm an alcoholic but I start every day around 8, well after work, and I feel no need to start drinking before then. I never drink during work.

So I've been drinking 1.5 L of Rye almost every week for the last three years now.

That's 156, 312 bottles, at 30 Canadian fun bucks each, or $9360. I otherwise live very cheap and have a well paying job, but I still can't help but feel that's money wasted.

I even would regret it less if I at least had friends to indulge with, instead of either being by myself or hiding my drinking from my girlfriend.

I'm the guy who works at the health food store form the last one or two threads. I work evenings, so it's so slow that no one can really tell. I usually just try to stay to one or two tall boys on my lunch break until I can get home.

I've been off liquor for over a year, and have controlled the urge to drink weeknights.

I only drink beer, and never high abv, unless it's a seasonal. I drink strohs now, I'm down to 2nights a week, but have managed 27 days straight because of consecutive working days. Work is my anti drink, but it also is the cause of many urges to drink

I was sober for 8 days last April. No shakes, the only thing i noticed was i was sweaty when i went to sleep.

How do you know? If he hasn't drunk for a couple days in a row and doesn't feel shakey/sweaty, his body likely isn't dependant. I drank for years and could still take 3 or 4 days off with no ill effects. I still considered myself an alcoholic since I drank so heavily and needed it to cope with life. My most recent period resulted in withdrawals whereby I woke up with lots of shaking, weakness and sweating. So no, I wouldn't suggest quitting cold turkey. You don't have to be miserable for weeks. Just have a small drink whenever you feel the shakes and sweats coming on, and wait for it to subside. You will be off it within a week at most.
