Candied Rose Petals
>1 egg white
>1 cup of sugar
>Petals from 2-3 roses
Begin by slightly beating one egg white in a small bowl and sprinkling a layer of sugar on a small plate.Next, dip the rose petals first in egg white and then in sugar so they are coated on both sides.Dry these confections on a rack. Store the candied petalss on wax paper, each layer separated by a paper towel or piece of cheesecloth.Use the candied petals as accents on candy trays, as a garnish for fruit cups, or decoration on cakes and pies - or adorn a serving platter with them for an elegant tea party!
You can use meringue powder or syrup if you're worried about raw egg whites (wven though sugar cooks them). Careful not to use roses with pesticides.

This one was interesting, fun as hell.
Heavy as fuck chocolate mousse topped with charred malt and crumbled vanilla meringue.
Served in an ashtray and with one of those tacky chocolate cigars. Probably most interesting dinner I've attended, entire theme was drugs. Guests were handed a syringe to inject their main course with truffle oil, among other weird things.
Not a lot of input, only if I do photos during menu development/tasting. They usually just plate a couple dishes for the staff and I grab one for photos. But often times the chef will make mine a bit prettier than what's served.
Anyway I think that's about it, can't find any more photos worth posting.

We've gone over this one a few times on /ck/, they failed because the shape just doesn't cook properly and the ratios weren't balanced. Being cute means nothing if it doesn't taste good.

I don't have an exact recipe because I'm on my phone, but I know you can make it by using pureed berries/other fruits sugar and pectin. It's like a 'jelly' of sorts but not so much one you use on breads.

You can do a glaze with jelly or with gelatin.

What an impractical food. You can't pick it up without making a mess of your hands, you have to pound whatever's in it before the cup melts, you can't put anything remotely warm in there. That middle one is already starting to fall apart, so it doesn't even make for a good picture.
2/10 would not consume
These are extremely easy to make, if you can make roll cakes. Just reserve a bit of batter, add food coloring, pipe onto pan-liner, freeze for 10 minutes, pour remaining batter on and bake as normal. Some recipes say to bake first, but if you freeze instead it allows the batter to sink in a bit better.
I don't think it's meant to be eaten with bare hands.

Then they should have left off the handle, which is ugly and kind of detracts from the whole thing; it kind of looks like the handle was added as an afterthought with the leftover chocolate.
Ok but it doesn't all fit with the thread, so excuse the slight off topic.
First of all the event was set in a church, guests were dining at a longtable right in the middle of it all, with big ass cross, chandeliers and organ and so forth.
There were two chefs, one that presented the food, another that presented the assortment of drugs to accompany the dishes - the second chef spent most of his youth in some pretty messed up places, did a lot of shit, so he put on some streetwear and fit right in to the role.
The first dish was seafood (I think it was monkfish cheeks). It was plated on mirror dishes, and the "pusher" would then deal out tiny bags of white powder that the guests were to empty on the fish.
If I recall correctly it was a yogurt powder of sorts.

Second dish was shaved sorbet served with green tea. Looked like meth but photos are boring, next dish were just some sliders with pulled brisket and one with salmon mousse.
Main course was "drug raped pork" - best meat I've ever had (duroc pork). This is where guests were given syringes with truffle oil.
First dessert was pistacchio icecream. guests were then given a rolled up joint filled with chopped nots, herbs and chocolate that they could empty on the cup of icecream.
Another dessert were some profiteroles served over a blueberry jam and chocolate and whatnot, and then the last dessert was that ashtray thing.
Also the dishes were presented like this lel.

I don't know if this was even intended to be eaten. It was a wedding shoot by Tim Walker for Vogue Italia. This one looks like real flowers and foliage in jelly, while the other one might have been colouring injected into slits.
Thanks for the tip! For a while now I've been wanting to make the strawberry one. I figured the coloring and piping but then I imagine I would have poured the remaining batter without hesitation, which would have ruined every thing and resulted in a huge disappointment.

I imagine you can make some interesting flavor combos. You could flavor all the gelatin(or agar-agar) differently. There's a lot of potential for this.

According to one blog, it actually turns it pink. My lavender isn't flowering yet but I'm eager to try it and will try to post results when I do
I fucking love Nordic cousine. I love the idea of eating something that looks like you could've foraged it yourself but presented and prepared in a way that's beautiful and most of all delicious.
