Third year going to fanime by myself since none of my close normie friends locally here are into it. I usually make "single serving" friends every year just by being sociable and finding a small group of people that aren't excessively socially alkward and not clique-ish. Anyone want to walk around tomorrow and chill? I sadly won't be cosplaying, and mostly want to check out the merch hall, artist alley, and the NJPW panel. I wait until CAX for arcade games.

FWIW, if anyone went to the /cgl/ meetup last year in-front of the convention center on the Saturday, I was the guy with the Mega64 hat and the flask. I went to the overly crowded crazy party after the meet-up but didn't stick around to see it shut down, ahaha.

Last night was a did but I still managed to have fun at the convention. The main dance hall was terrible though (dubstep all night wtf) however the little side dance rooms were popping. Hentai room was hilarious.

I went to a party at the Fairmont, 10 minutes upon entering it got shut down.

I think San Jose is stuck up as fuck.. Dining options close hella early despite being a big metropolitan area, and lots of no fun police everywhere. Too many private security employees randomly stopping people in the middle of common areas to check badges. I never had these issues in any Los Angeles cons.

I had fun. It was slow and comfy, lots of booths, nice stuff from Bandai, great game room and 18+ content. I'm visiting from Texas and this is my first Cali-con. Lots of really nice cosplays, a more dedicated community, and fun artists. 9/10 con methinks.

Those Facebook faggots really need to chill with their drama. Majority of us there came to avoid that shit and came to chill. Also to the head faggot who kicked out guys for the sake of one girl who didn't felt "safe" with a bunch of guys in a room: beta cuck.

Furthermore, I been to two fashion panels and they were not new people friendly. Also "not giving consent is sexy" is cosmo level shit.

Fanime for me this year was a solid 8/10.

Pros:
My cosplay went off without a hitch.
Cosplay Wrestling Federation was a R I O T.
I played my cards right with sleeping, eating, & drugging - full of energy the whole con.
Got some great prints from AA.
No Christian protesters spreading negativity.
Weather was perfect.
Anime rappers at Stage 0.
Went to Yaoi Bingo for the first time, and it was a hoot.
Hentai night's are always fun.
Comfy kigus with friends Saturday night.

Cons:
Drama amongst my various friends.
Con attendance did seem lower than I've seen it in recent years.
I didn't play a lot of shmups in the Gaming Hall.
I didn't make any new friends.
No Hentai Music Video contest.
The hentai room we were in was just playing full episodes of shows vs. mashups of ridiculous stuff.

Yeah, apparently there were 2 rooms - 1 vanilla and 1 hardcore.The first room was vanilla, the second room was hardcore. From what I gathered, the first room was full (and even maintained a line for some time) while the second room was about half empty. I know because I tried to leave to go pee and they told me I'd have to wait in the line again to come back in, which made no sense since our theater was half empty. The hardcore room would have been a lot more fun with more people heckling.

What was the vanilla room like? Were they just playing back to back full episodes of things? Or was is it more of a mashup of scenes and hentai music videos?

I just thought the other door was the second entrance for the room I was in.. The vanilla room was sorta lame, but the heckling made it 10x more fun. The first two videos were about chikan 'Gods' [2 eps] and the second series [which only lasted 1 ep] was another chikan vanilla thing. If you can call chikan + rape vanilla. Compared to other hentai it is though.

Then there was a slave selling one which the ONLY thing that yelled 'slave' was the first 3 minutes where girls were put up for auction. The rest was some masochistic dude getting femmed. That's pretty much this convention in a nutshell. I don't say that to disparage Fanime itself, but...yeah. If you're going to this con expecting it to amuse and entertain you on its own merit, you're somewhat likely to leave disappointed. This was a major point of contention on last year's thread as to whether that makes this convention "worth it" since most of what people do there is just kick it with their respective cliques with the con itself just being the catalyst.

Fanime's "worth" as a convention is going to be purely subjective, though.
