A thread for the dresses that are rare or extremely in demand/hard to find. Most wanted cut/colour way, do you think there will ever be a re-release, how much would you be prepared to pay?, do you think the re-sale value is too high? ect.....

Starting with Puppet Circus by AP - Released in 2006 (OVER 10 YEARS!!!! omg)
>>

>>9443263
>what I have
I have bxw Iron Gate OP, Cats Tea Party in grey, Carnival OP in bxw.

>what I want
The only one I'm really searching for right now is Puppet Circus jsk in black only. I'd pay up to $1500 for it. I might settle for one of the other color ways, but I wouldn't pay over $1k for them personally.

>Holy Grail of Holy Grail dresses
It would be a dream to find Iron Gate OP in the white x black color way. I would pay $2-3k for that damn dress. I've only seen it worn once, and never seen it for sale.
>can't even find a fucking picture of it anymore
>>
>>9444100
The IG OP didn't come in white x black. And the JSK has been relisted heaps of LM for ages.

Aren't you that greasy fat girl with the septum piercing?

Are you sure? I could of sworn I saw a picture of a Russian girl wearing a white IG OP years ago. Maybe it was just a replica then? Explains why I only saw it that one time.

>>9444121
Sorry I don't know who that is.
>>
>>9444121
Jesus Christ, she makes IG look so cheap.
>>
>>9444137
Probably was a replica. Sorry to break your dreams of it.
>>
>>9444154
It's OK. I saw it maybe 3 years ago when I first got into lolita. I found all my other dream dresses relatively quickly so I was starting to doubt it existed anyways. Thanks everyone.
>>
>>9444156
The jsk comes up often and usually is cheaper on yjapan. With replicas being more produced then they where 10 years ago, there will always be something out there that looks nice in a colorway that wasn't actually released like the teal HL dress.
>>
I too have been searching for Puppet Circus. I've been looking for the OP in red. Honestly I'm willing to spend up to $3000 at this point, but only on a gently used or (wishful thinking here) new dress. Puppet Circus came out over ten years ago, and all of the dresses I've seen up for sale look about that old. Where are the lolitas who actually take care of their clothes at?
>>
>>9444195
Hoarding their dresses because they don't want them to get in the hands of bad owners.
>>
>>9444121
It always looks kinda cheap imo. No details, no tailoring just a sack like shape with an elasticised bust, no visisible nicely designed neckline. I've always wondered why people pay so much for moire when the designs are usually so lackluster. They have some pretty prints, but most look sooooo similar. It's like different prints slapped onto the same plain dresses over and over. I'm not even going to mention the color ways. Black, white, black, more black, maybe some electric blue. It's always the same old shit, I don't get it.
>>
>>9444197
Do you wear sweet? Moitie fans are so loyal because the construction is top tier. The quality of most sweet brands has gone down drastically, but my newer Moitie has the same quality control as my Iron Gate skirt. Moitie fans don't really care for prints; it's not the brand's appeal.
>>
>>9444205
I wear some of each. I don't own any moire though, maybe it does have great construction. I just think the design elements are lacking. There aren't any details, sack dresses are super easy to construct. I do like some moire coordinates I've seen but it's just so boring to me in general.
>>
>>9444212
Sorry my auto correct... moite.

But yeah I'm talking about different styles of bodices, different types of sleeves, etc. it just seeems so samey 90% of the time

The BtSSB x Kuragehime collab is the rarest dress I've seen go up for auction. I assume the chance for a rerelease of this dress is incredibly low bc it was a collab piece.
>>
>>9444232
I'm not trying to bait, it's my honest opinion. I like some moire, but a lot of it is really similar in design. Plain bodices with ladder lace on the jams and that weird baggy sack like bodice on the ops . It's been their go to for like 15 years...
>>
>>9444236
* jsks
>>
>>9444112
Why would they do the all the other cuts except the OP in a white color way?
>>
>>9444283
Don't have an answer but it isn't the only time Moitie has done it. Sometimes certain colorways are available for certain cuts.
>>
>>9444197
Lampshade-kei lolita detected.
>>
>>9444236
Why fix what's not broken anon? It's their aesthetic. Moitie is a gothic brand and likes to keep to the gothic aesthetic they have carved for them selves. That is probably why moitie fans are so loyal because they know what it will fit like and don't have to take a risk on a different designed bodice part of the dress that fits wonky on them. Consistency tends to lead to a steady return of coustomers. it's what make moitie soo reliable, you never have to worry about something declining in construction or fit.

Is this a common opinion held by newer lolitas, do you think? I'd never heard people complain about Moitie being "boring" or uncreative until the last year or so.
>>
>>9444318
I guess I can understand that, although it's not for me.
>>9444319
Maybe, but I personally am not new. I've always felt that way.
>>
>>9444421
Not every one has to like it. As you said you dress in multiple styles so I'm assuming you prefer sweet and classic in the OTT sense rather then the tone down simplified sense. Moitie is very simple so you can have a little more freedom to get creative with it. Dress it up or down to your liking. Much like Victorian maiden. They also use the same shapes over and over.
>>
>>9444137
Maybe with a blouse or cutsew under so it looks like an OP?

>>9444205
I've owned several pieces including Iron Gate but didn't find it all that great, just that simple design is hard to mess up. Tbh I think most Moitie fans are fans because they have raging ladyboners for Manasamaaaaa. The amount of girls who sperg out when he posts a potato camera pic on Twitter
>>
>>9444225
This is high up on my dream dress list but I don't think I've ever seen it for sale
>>
>>9444195

>>
>>9444475
I like moitie and it makes up 80% of my closet. But I don't like mana that much. Just the clothes he makes fits my aesthetic. Mana is kinda a meme at this point any way. The obsession is more of said meme then genuine raging boner obsession.

That's kinda the thing. I'm not really ott, but I like interestingly designed pieces. The baggy scrunched up tops on a lot of moite looks amateur to me. Oh well, to each their own.
>>

>>
>>9444236

Moitie fan here, this is true. The short sleeved op design is in everything esp if you need shirring. I'm not in love with the cut but,, like the other anon said, their quality control is pretty solid.
>>
>>9444484

Really? This dress can be found pretty easily. The blue one pops up all the time.
>>
It's not a dress, but I would really like to have it. Teddy Motors Jumpsuit from our special friends at Meta.
>>
>>9444233

Good grief, after that auction ended, the kuragehime anons are supposed to write in and request a re-release. The girls who want it at least did that, right? Btssb doesn't monitor auctions, they're not gonna realise this dress is even remotely sought after if no one brings it to their attention.
>>
>>9444225
>>9444219
>>9444216

Moitie fan here too. This isn't Moitie being boring. This is Moitie's concession to the fatty-chans. Every print they think will become a hit tends to have this cut so that they can sell a few to the bigger-sized girls. And such prints become popular and sought after because the bigger girls can actually fit into these instead of the usual smaller-sized dresses in more interesting cuts, which is why you see them posted more and talked about more often.

Pic related is a recent Moitie release with a more interesting dress cut. You have to be Moitie size 2 to fit into it, though. No shirring and unforgiving fabric. So of course, not a lot of hype over it, most bigger girls just ignore it since they can't fit into it.

I'm a newer lolita and wear exclusively gothic. I wear lolita as daily wear too so I have more use for simple pieces but I really do think a lot of what Moitie puts out looks so boring compared to the cost. I've never been able to justify the price on a Moitie piece, especially because the more interesting things they do have sell for double the retail price a lot of the time. My go-to gothic brand is Sheglit, who also do simple but in a way that suits my aesthetic a little more.
>>
>>9445502
No one would know me. I'm not in any comm or go to meetups. I have a busy work schedule and only get to wear lolita on my few days off and date nights with my husband.

>>9445502
I'm sorry you don't have the means to buy all your dream dresses when they pop out anon. No need to be snooty about it.
>>
>>9445699
this is still boring
>>
>>9445539
I want red and I've never seen it. Blue is common, green I've seen a handful of times.
>>
>>9445679
The best thing to do is write them and attach a screenshot of the kuragehime auction with the end bid

>>9445675
I really hope you find this anon!!
>>
>>9446118

Which definition of boring are you using now? The previous one was saying the high waist wide neckline is a common design, which it is, because Moitie keeps reusing those cuts for fatty dresses.

Moitie's not AP with bells and whistles on, that's not part of the brand's aesthetic.
>>
>>9445699
This looks like some hot topic tier shit
>>
>>9445699
This is too long for lolita though.
>>
>>9445699
That is really pretty. Is it still in stock/what dress is it?
>>
>>9446148
i should have stated that i'm a different anon

it's boring to me because there's nothing special about it. it's essentially a skater dress that's extended with some corsetting on the sides, and the uneven top skirt looks straight up ugly. the under skirt is just plain. i can't see what the pattern printed on the side is, but i can tell that it's all just one shade of grey, which is again, boring
>>
>>9444233
I feel you, anon, but I'm looking for the IW x Mawaru Penguindrum collab.

>quit lolita over a year ago
>still find myself looking for it whenever I have money.
>>
>>9446275
I saw it up for auction once, it wasn't that expensive, like under $1000
>>
Since we're on the topic of Moitie... this isn't the rarest dress in the world but I've found the OP fairly difficult to find, especially in this color way.

I really love its simplicity. Some people might gripe about the lack of variety in Moitie but IMO a more complicated cut would have taken away from the print.
>>
>>9445679
How sought after is it really? I know it sold for a lot, but was it just a few people who really wanted it, or a bunch of different bidders? I never understood the attraction to that dress, it seems like a tacky child's first communion dress. I don't mind OTT baby releases, but that one looks cheap
>>
Baby, why do you hurt me so...

>all these people saying this is boring

This is the reason gothic will never have a big wave the way sweet and classic have. Gothic just doesn't lend itself to extravagant prints and cuts the way the other two do. And you can really only style a gothic dress in a gothic style. I don't mean the sweet 'gothic' stuff AP puts out sometimes, I mean stuff like this. Taobao brands try sometimes, but imo, they miss the mark and it still ends up looking too classic. Gothic is just too subdued to have mass appeal. And, like you said, a lot of it is too small for fatty-chans. All my Moitie is from around 2006, and it only came in a size 2.

>lucky for me, it tends to sell cheap on the secondhand market because no one fits a JP 2
>>
>>9446482
No need to be snobby. Moitie isn't even that small as even a US size 6 can fit into it just fine.
>>
>>9446511
No one's been snobby, sensitive-chan. It's pretty common knowledge that Moitie is one of the smaller brands, that's why it often sells for less than a hundred dollars secondhand.
>>
>>9444100
Iron Gate W x B JSK is up on LM for 1k right now.
>>
Posting another Moitie jsk with a different neckline as well. There's corset lacing on this, but no shirring, so you can at least go smaller.

>>9446263

which is why I asked what definition you're using.

Moitie's not AP. This is the original EGL, not the overdesigned whatever-I-can-throw-on-a-jsk approach that taobao gothic or Atelier Pierrot likes. Cornerstone of Elegant in EGL is the simplicity in the silhoutte, emphasising the female form instead of hiding it under layers of fabric.

Sorry you came into this too late, the hot topic and skater dresses appeared maybe a decade after Moitie already established this as their signature style, so it probably looks wrong to you as you have the association ass backwards. Rest of us are looking at hot topic/skater dresses and thinking it looks similar, but still not as good as original Moitie, not the other way around.

>>9446221

It’s the Fall Cross print jsk. It’s gone from their japanese webshop, cdjapan might still have it though.

>>9446217

The dress is tea length (102/125cm, bringing it close to IW’s tea length jsks), it’s the mannequin that’s on a shorter stand, plus there is a normal length jsk as well. I just happen to like the longer length better.

I’ll point out, though, if you can’t tell this from the width-to-length proportions alone you may want to rethink how well you think you can judge the lolita silhoutte.
>>
>>9445892

>who u?
>I'm sorry you don't have the means to buy all your dream dresses when they pop out anon. No need to be snooty about it.

>>
>>9446852
Sorry I miss quoted. I meant to refer to >>9445505
Why is that gross behavior? Because I just happened to find all my favorite dresses when I had the money to spend on them? I don't shame people for owning dresses I don't, so I don't know why someone would be salty and jaded for finding my own happiness by my own means. I make a lot of money, maybe more then the average lolita, but I also have a lot less time to wear them out, which is why I don't bother with comms or meetups. Besides judging from this jealous fucking attitude, I am not disappointed I'm not apart of a comm.
>>
>>9446898

>>
>>9446511
Moitie's sizing varies very greatly. Some of their OPs are huge but some of their JSKs fit up to a 30" bust.

>>9446706
Not sure why you're bothering, they are obviously a pleb. And Moitie's signature style is by no means a normie skater dress, lol.
>>
>>9445675

This is fairly new, but the hype over this is just nuts. Heck, I didn't even see it being released, and the only time I saw it on some jp market it was like 60k yen. Welp, maybe I'll get a hold of jsk, though it does have a little different print...

>>
>>9447637
This, to me, exemplifies how Chinese Lolita's tastes have ruined the Lolita aesthetic.
>>
>>9448507
I don't know about this dress specifically, but at times Moitie releases way more of 1 colourway than the other. This is why the ivory version of Ritual is so rare (I've seen only 1 picture of it worn).

I really want Promise of Eternal by Haenuli in grey or yellow, but I do not like the real lace they put on this dress. (It's different from the stock picture)
Which means there exists only one dress (or maybe two) with the right lace that I like.

Not sure if the girl who owns the yellow dress with the right lace is ever going to sell that dress, fml xD
>>
>>9453383
The shit that happened with this dress and the lace not being the same is why I have trust issues with the company. For that reason I won't be buying direct from their site simply because this dress is not what you received AND it was hard to resell.
>>
>>9449854
Terrible music duo? Are there music fans buying these pieces? I'd like to know more, anon.
>>
>>9453383
>>9453395
Did she state ANYWHERE before the release of this that the product would be changed from stock photos? It's not a minor lace change on the bottom with a print as the focus. The lace she changed alters the entire look because it's the theme.
>>
>>9453408
She didn't state it anywhere.
>>
>>9453383
Does anyone have any idea for how much the dress with the right lace would go for though?
>>
>>9453408
No she never did. Which is why many people who bought the dress where upset because it's not the same dress they ordered since the lace overlay greatly altered the look of the dress.
>>
>>9449173
Blue is their signature colour, so it would make sense for them to release more of it assuming it'd be more popular. Good for me because the blue's my preferred colourway.
>>
>>9453430
That's a pretty hard question to answer. There's only one that anyone owns outside of Haenuli and she claimed it was her dream dress or something.

Haenuli probably has just a few stock pieces of the dress the way it's supposed to look.
>>
>>9445699
Would a 85cm bust and 65cm waist fit a Moitie size 2?
I can also wear a corset underneath (22 inch) if necessary.
Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm kinda new to Moitie.
>>
>>9453474
It really depends on the cut, most of their OPs have full shirring but their old skirts run really small. Don't trust the measurements on their website and look for measurements from someone who owns it or ask in the Moitie group.
>>

>>
>>9453508
Probebly cause her review went very public, and it was a little scathing.
A bad review like that is harmful for her business (though, I'd say that is entirely her own fault).
They only altered her dress to save face imo, they wanted her to do a positive follow up.
You are right, everyone should have complained, they all got a very different dress and not what they paid for.
