For everyone asking, these are parody swimsuit competitions. I went to the one at Fanime and the host is funny as hell [the guy in Hard Gay]. The audience has participation as well. Not to mention the one I attended had the awesome Armstrong cosplayer from Full Metal Alchemist in all his body building speedo glory. It was AWESOME. I don't know anything about this video posted, but my experience was top notch and the whole event was so much fun. I highly recommend.

The people participating know its all in fun and games and that this isn't a serious contest. Its a whole parody on contests like these. Its more of an after dark, mature panel event which added to the raunchy fun without nudity or anything like shitty Cosplay Deviant crap.

It is funny. The whole dancing, kissing part looks like to be a part of the talent portion which, from the one I attended, involved jugglers, dancers, singers, strip teases, gymnastics. Hell, some didn't even make sense to the characters they were trying to portray which is the whole point. Its a whole satire show about the scantily clad cosplayers who wear bikinis and still call themselves the characters. Let me explain my brother a little more. Never has to pay for anything, dropped out of college twice when he had a full run scholarship, decided that he doesn't want a job, so said he will go back to school for grandparents will keep paying for his personal apartment which he has had them pay for, for the past 10 years. Goes back to school at age 30, scholarship gone at this point, now has to do student loans, diagnosing everyone about everything without a degree yet. I had a panic attack at work, had to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance. Never had a panic attack before. It ended up being severe. Had no idea what my body was doing, started freaking out from chest pains. Assumed I was having a stroke or some shit, body starts going numb.. Blah blah blah. Tell my brother about my experience. He said, and I quote after 2 doctors [the ER and private doctor said yes, it was a panic attack], "Doesn't sound like you had a panic attack because you don't have any prior experience with them, so your doctors are probably wrong." Yeah. Sure thing, bro. Not like people with anxiety disorders or sudden stress attacks realize they have them until some of them have a severe attack.

Comes back about another semester in school. "So, what you told me before. It sounds like you did actually have a panic attack." No shit Sherlock. I'm so glad your unfinished degree put that together 4 months later after it happened and my doctors already said so.

My brother is a load of crock. He's a spoiled fucker, only went back to school because my grandparents were tired of him mooching and said he needed a job. What kind of bothers about these situations is that people assume that both artist alley and vendors get free admission for tables given to them of the goodness of the conventions heart or something. No, no they don't; it can be pretty expensive, and the cost of doing so comes from somewhere, but people act like the people running the booths just materialize there. I've talked to people that literally think that the tables are free. I've certainly had my share of people that go "I can make/draw this cheaper!" Well no shit, so can I. People have to make back their costs somewhere and make it worth for them to cough up the money for tables for a show they are behind the table most of the time, food, travel, perhaps days off work etc.

Even cgl has this assumption sometimes, though thankfully they are at least self aware enough to not bitch about artists. But instead go, "Why isn't the figure the same price as so-and-so online?" There are different expenses than just slapping it online and having someone else deal with the shipping costs and not having to deal with entitled weebs, or booth location and transportation costs, etc.
