Not actually sure it's anything more that vague nitpick in a westernized design. The length frills and cut are bigger issues than the folding direction if you want to criticize over it not conforming to the tendencies of traditional wear. Most tables are around 60cm deep and that "waistband" laid flat is taking up almost the entire table, so I think it's fair to say she's at least got a 100cm waist.
