ITT: Cosplay and cons from 2005 and earlier. The nerdier and chringier the better.

Oh boy, I was about to say this cosplay reminds me of Tunamelt-chan but I honestly don't remember what year that was. Most likely after 2005.
>>9411452
Fuck, this video was from my first year of cons.
I can't say it shows all that much of my experience, but it's an OK window into what cosplay was like in those days.
It's a trip to see them talking about the "good old days" of the early '90s and think that I'm now that guy saying the same thing about the early '00s though.
>>9411705
Tunamelt was 2010.

Holy fuck, tunamelt aside, I totally forgot about that guy who always wore that stupid Brain Age thing. I saw him at every con for years.
A friend of mine actually knew tunamelt (apparently from the old arcade in Little Tokyo) and said she was intolerable. I hate to admit it but I thought her sluttiness was kinda hot though.
I can't believe that was 2010 and that we're about to have the tenth AX in DTLA. I don't care if they've been there longer than anywhere else, I'll always associate AX with Long Beach ('01-02 because '07 didn't happen, as any AX staffer can confirm) and Anaheim. Shame AC went under, it was nice being back down in Anaheim for that.
>>9411721
that is the most pathetic thing I'v ever seen
>>9411731
>I hate to admit it but I thought her sluttiness was kinda hot though.
Lord men just want to fuck anything that'll be naked for them, disgusting. You know why her nickname is Tuna Melt, right?
>>9413036
I dont wanna be anywhere near her, please don't speak for me! That video was abusive enough.
>>9413036
>Men just want to fuck anything that will get naked for them
>...E-except for me :'(
>*spends all day looking for skimpy cosplayers to post in a frothy, bitter rage to CGL*

cool vid OP, thanks for sharing. I was only 10 in 2001 so this is really neat to see.
Things haven't changed much haha..
>>9411721
Ah thanks friendo, and also, barf.
>>9413036
It was only the costume that was hot, not the girl in it. I don't think anybody in their right mind actually wanted to fuck her, it was more of a "I wish my girlfriend would dress up like that for me" kind of thing, if that makes sense.
>>9411721
I was about to say, I remember that Fanime. Lol.
>>9411452
So, whatever happened to Johnny Otaku anyways?

holy fuck I haven't cringed so hard in a long time
At least I now have a good idea of what kind of people participate in the famed convention orgies, and know that I'm not really missing anything.
>>9414775
>tfw I actually bought the figure of Ringo in that costume and read Air Gear because I saw Tunamelt
For the last 5+ years I've been wanting to pay somebody, anybody decent to wear Ringo's Hentai Kamen outfit just so Tunamelt's not the only person to have ever cosplayed it.
>>9415592
Wow, sure enough she is the only one who has done it. It's kinda hard to believe though, with all the girls that are willing to be half naked, not one has gotten the idea to charge big bucks for a photoshoot of this one.
I'll dump some of my old A-Kon pictures circa 2004. Babby's first digital camera was awful, so only a few of them are usable.

>>9418266
Yeah, was at the Adam's Mark before it became the Sheraton.
Oh wow, thanks for the photos Anon.
Bump for interest. I'm writing a story right now set at various points in time from the cosplay scene in the early/mid 2000's until today and these threads are great, but rare.
Anything else people have documented from then? I've forgotten a lot of little immersive details through the years

Uhhh, well, I found some old LJ entries I made about going to the cons back in the day but the cringe was too strong for me to finish it.
>too many dumbass emojis XXDDDDDDDD;;;;;;;;;; :333333333
>*GLOMP!* and other rp emotes
>WAAIIIIIII~~~! and other broken random nonsensical Japanese
>I GOT THIS AND THIS AND THIS (before discovering the wonderful world of internet shopping)
>crying over lines and missing things
>OMG I GOT TO MEET THIS GUY AND THESE COSPLAYERS
...Christ, I'm glad I grew out of that.
On the upside, I guess there were more weeby bonding moments in lines, a better but more awkward way of showing our appreciation to others, elevator stuffing stories, and happiness gained from having your picture taken so many times, even if you weren't really in cosplay and just wearing quirky clothes.
>>9418167
This guy looks better than most Clouds do today
>>9420962
Honestly go into the cosplay.com archives, you will find PLENTY of fodder.
My favorite remembrance is the year of the yaoi paddles. I remember them every where for only one year, because after that all the cons wised up and banned them.
