Thread for finished cosplays, works in progress, whatever.

Can we try a compliment-criticism sandwich? So for the person(s) above, post a compliment, then a constructive criticism, then a compliment.
Don't be too bitchy, gulls
>>
ok you first
>>
Why the fuck would you selfpost here unless you were seriously looking for feedback? If you can't handle crit to the point of needing a compliment sandwich maybe you shouldn't be posting.
>>

>Don't be too bitchy, gulls
>>
>>9379704

calm your party tit, anon. compliment sandwich has always been SOP for selfpost threads, where have you been?
>>
>>9379641
I think it's sad as fuck that we can't do anything like this anymore.

though, cosplay self post threads usually go over okay.

I'd be brave but I've been posted before and my comm hates cgl so I don't want to risk it.
>>
>>9379704
Spergs like you are why OP wants compliment sandwiches.
>>
>>9379618
Is this cosplay only? I wish waywt threads were still a thing as the feedback was always useful for me.

We could make this a cosplay/lolita/idol discussion thread? Or is that against the rules to be cordial? I mean it wouldn't be about one particular person.

it took me an entire day to figure out how to make patterns and another day to hem everything and stick some pieces together lol

Hey I'm always up for a selfpost thread. Let's do this.

Finished my Bakugou cosplay for Katsu recently. I'm happy with how it came out but I feel like I can make a better collarpiece. I made it in a rush in 3 hours two days before the convention so I might fix it, but I also like the look it gives so I'm torn.

Yea its lazy and last minute but its better than nothing. My biggest question is: Spike Spiegel, do I stick with the well fitting but less accurate suit, or do I attempt to find/tailor a more accurate jacket that may come out bad? And if the latter, ideas/help would be appreciated.

your cosplay seems accurate but your makeup is kind of off. it's not your fault though. it's a common mistake. sometimes translating the character design line by line onto actual people just doesnt work.
the character you're cosplaying has wide youthful eyes but the wing you added (i know that he has a weird wing too) makes your eyes look very tiny. i think the wing he has is supposed to represent eyelashes? have you tired circle lenses? basically your eye makeup needs to be something that opens up and makes your eyes look a little wider.
your brows arent covered up properly so it leaves a really bad texture. i dont think copying his brows exactly would look right in real life either way. you could just pluck your normal brows a little bit thinner than usual and color them with a black brow pencil.
the lips just need to be plain. i would not recommend covering them with concealer and foundation. that dries them out and makes them look bad.
anyway cosplay makeup skills are little a hard to get the hang of at first but i know you can do it anon. good luck i believe in you!

>>9386089
You look like you have hooded eyes? Unless thats just the angle talking, but I have hooded eyes too and found that less make-up = much better eye shaping. When I do ANY cosplay at all I just stick with liner and false lashes (if it calls for lashes) because you either can't see the eyeshadow, and it just makes your eyes feel heavy, or it makes your eyes look smaller. I agree with >>9386329 about circle lenses, it does wonders making your eyes look larger

>>9392027
Thank you! I'm going to be refining it over the next few months, im missing some details like her shoulder belt and biotics. I had a week to finish like the idiot i am and I totally forgot to press the seams in my trousers and miss details on the coat
>>
>>9386713
they're pretty bland on their own but the color and bead type you chose is really cute and has great potential.
you could sell them in bunches of three and have them united with a cute ribbon or some kind of "kawaii" charm.
i dont think the little dangly bits you attached on the bracelet on the top right add anything to bracelet or is a good design choice for a bracelet overall. i'd recommend buying some strung glass beads with cutesy designs to to dangle off the bracelets instead.
oh if youre good with polymer clay you could make your own charms. they're a bunch of tutorials for simple designs on youtube.

the simple design you made does work for the earrings though.
well good luck anon and hopefully you succeed in finding what you need.

I have two pics, one has a dirty mirror which I'm sorry about! Usually my bathroom is clean, midterms were that week and everything was awful.

So when I got the costume, it was in questionable condition. The straps were too long and the buttons were falling off. So my friend tried to help me. The buttons are a little uneven, I see a ton of flaws in this. But I can't fix it anymore before the con. Is it wearable?

I'm also sorry for the quality of this pic. I'm going to put my cat down so it was a quick put on put off. (I also cropped my face out because I am red and puffy from crying)
>>
>>9395282

>>
>>9379934
I'm not much of a construction person, so honestly I don't think any of it is that bad. To be perfectly honest it looks pretty amazing to me, especially done in such a short period of time. For my area of specialty, though, I think that you could give your wig a bit more shape. Bakugou still has very readable bangs and a solid hairstyle, and your wig's kind of just fluff all over the place, you know what I mean? I also think you could work on the makeup a bit more, because you can see the pink around your eyes and it's super distracting. I dunno if that's just a degradation over the course of the day thing or a you thing, but I'd imagine superhero cosplayers would be all over that.

>>9380104
First of all, I'm glad that you're cosplaying Donnel cause he's underappreciated. Thank you for being best boy. Aside from the wig issue you already mentioned, I think that you could get some of the missing details like other anon said to help bring Donnel to life even more. Also, I really like your material choice. It's pretty authentic, my dude.

>>9380233
...You kind of just look like a regular dude. No offense, you're not a bad looking regular dude, but I wouldn't know that you were cosplaying unless you said so.

>>9395282
It's fine. I wouldn't notice any issues with the cosplay unless you specifically pointed them out to me -- (even then I don't think I would) -- so just go with it. Make sure your wig and makeup is good and nobody will see any flaws.

>youth

you look nearly 30, don't kid yourself
>>
>>9408304
Not even that anon but in what world does she look nearly 30?? She's obviously in her early twenties if anything.
You gulls have weird standards about what's "old looking". Hell, I'm an old hag (28) and I wish I looked like that
>>
>>9408406
>You gulls have weird standards about what's "old looking"
>I'm an old hag (28)
>You gulls have weird standards about what's "old.. "
>I'm an old hag (28)
>old hag (28)
>old
>(28)

Do you children realize that you haven't lived even HALF of your life span yet?
Between this and /soc/ thinking 30 years old is "old", I think a lot of people on 4chan have lost sight of reality.
Especially with gulls calling themselves old at 30. Just because you are slightly older than people who frequent cons doesn't make you old.
And anyways, the stigmas of getting old are being pushed back further in age every year; retired (standard age) people are looking younger and have more energy with each passing year.

I don't get people. I really don't. Decide what you consider a sign that you're "old" and I'll explain why you're full of shit.
>>
>>9408482
For me at least the general age range of people I talk to IRL (casually, not professionally) are 20-30. When I'm on 4chan I just assume everyone is around my age (23), so it's a bit of a shock when I realize I've been having a good conversation about a common interest with a 42 year old because I wouldn't expect to do that IRL. Also, society claims by 30 you should have a career, be married with kids, etc (that seems to be changing though) so, again, when I see someone older on here I get that feeling of "What are they doing here? Shouldn't they be adulting or something?"

All the "older" people I've talked to have been lovely and they tend to poke fun at themselves for their age so I have no problem with them. It's the 45 year old men cosplaying as 14 year old magical girls that creep me out.
>>
>>9408497
BTW I'm not one of the people that are claiming they're old. Most of my friends are 20-22 so that's somewhat of an age gap but not enough for me to feel too out of touch with them.
>>
>>9408497
>so it's a bit of a shock when I realize I've been having a good conversation about a common interest with a 42 year old

It really depends on your interest. I would feel weird talking with a middle-aged person about something more mundane, but for things like goth music, glam metal and shoujo manga? I've had a blast.

People don't stop having hobbies because they age, and for many of them they're in a position where they can finally spend stupid amounts of money in them.

The ruff has fairly heavy duty wire at the rim, but with the cord and trim it's just too much for the wire to support. I'll have to build in some kind of extra support.
>>
>>9409034

Multiple layers of buckram in addition to the wire maybe?

You're doing great so far. I love how many people have been dressing as bandora the witch in recent years because of the whole ~nostalgia~ power rangers thing
>>
>>
>>9409138
>>
>>9398966
The scarf looks really out of place on Halo armor to me, unless you're cosplaying Jun. All in all looks great though, just get some feet armor to cover your boots.
>>
>>9409138
You have really awkward wig styling. I'd look into feathering the side bits to make them shorter and less blunt because it will just look better than the big chunks you have. And decide if you want to go realistic or 'anime' with the fringe, a blunt fringe would have looked fine with this but the way you've attempted the choppy anime look makes it look like you just don't know how to cut straight lines and botched the wig.
The overall costume looks great though, maybe tailor the jacket a little more for a tighter fit, and add her gloves?
>>
>>9409185
The shemagh doesn't go well with the armor? Huh only got positive reactions of it. Ill have to reevaluate it.
And yeah I wasn't able to do boot armor in time for the con. Working on it now though.
Thanks for taking the time to respond mate. Means a lot to me.
>>
>>9409138

Try to make colours that match popular co-ords.
These would have more potential with a charm or something attached. At the moment they're pretty basic.
