Teacup lion has a chibi plush similar to fumos. Not perfect but close.
I'd love to see if you find anything closer, I want to make custom touhou fumos.
>>
>>9307991
I'm bumping my request here.
One anon already linked this one, if anyone else is interested: https://www.etsy.com/listing/487057310/planetplush-floppy-fox-sewing-pattern

I have this old pattern for a plush rocking horse called 'Ragtime' from like the 80's. Found it at a yard sale and it's in pretty dang good condition. Would anyone be interested if I have the time to scan it this weekend? It's not anime-like but it's cute and you can certainly modify it. I plan on making some Unicorns or using My Little Pony color schemes.
>>
>>9310423
If you have time, anon! It looks super cute.
>>
>>9310423
I would love that! The style actually looks like my old rocking horse I had as a kid
>>
>>9310423
Now that I think about it I have some old plush patterns myself too. A renaissance-ish lord and lady cat set, and a rabbit with a country frock coat. I don't know if they're right for this board either but I may go dig them up.
>>
>>9310481
I think vintage stuff is cute and I would appreciate the style of them I'm sure. I would love if you found them and shared! I wasn't confident anyone would be interested either since the look is different from Choly Knight and Teacuplion stuff but I'll see about getting my scanner working this weekend for the little rocking horse plush! There's only 2 pages to the pattern and one page of instructions and it's uncut so it's perfect and easy for sharing.

>>
>>9310557
very cute tutorial but I don't understand why they'd go through all the trouble to maked appliques for the nose, eyes, blush, etc. but then do the eye-sparkle with paint
it's kind of like they forgot and then quickly added it in the end.

I think it's because of copyright issues. Maybe some general "how to make a human-plushie" etc would be OK but not individual characters

I usually make my own patterns for dolls and plushies, but it's interesting to look at published patterns to see what other people do.

Here's the cats. I'll see if I can scan them later when I'm not so busy.

Does anyone have a pattern for bloomers? I've asked the same question on the handmade lolita thread, but it seems more appropriate to ask here(?).

I've read and watched MeLikesTea's tutorial, but I'm struggling on how to draft the pattern. I just can't figure out how to create the curved part of the pattern. She mentions using a pair of short, but I was wondering if there's a better method?
>>
>>9313550
Essentially, the back curve needs to be deeper than the front 'cause we have butts. They're really just a pair of shorts that are like, 3 sizes too large for you with elastic sewn into the waist and legs which are to your measurements. You know when you add a belt to an insanely baggy shirt? That's the effect you're going for. Took me a while to wrap my head around bloomers so I know how you feel!
>http://www.antipope.org/feorag/gosurori/bloomers-pattern.pdf this is great for explaining how to get the measurements.
>>
is there a mega or dropbox of patterns?
seems like it would be really useful
>>
>>9313949
Thank you, anon! This is exactly what I was looking for. I usually just make head accessories, so I'm a little bit out of my depth when it comes to sewing garments. But I figured bloomers are a good place to start.
>>
>>9314053
This is a good idea, we need a google doc or something like in the taobao threads so everyone can easily find resources and patterns.
>>
>>9310905
That's what plushmakers did before pattern sharing became commonplace. Take it apart, trace it, put it back together, then make the replica.
>>
>>9312920
Hidden stitch from the back of the mouth/throat to the back of the neck using embroidery floss and a hidden seam.
>>
Not sure if this is the right board, but I'm curious if there's any specific online communities for plushie makers, particularly original makers? A place to talk about ideas, share tips and finished products, network, etc. I feel like there were groups on deviantart but I haven't been on there in years.

Does anyone have a pattern for that bat plushie everyone and their grandmother makes and sells? It's normally got a different fabric than the body on its inner wings and ears. They're cute AF but I'm not paying $40 for something I can make at home.

I guess I'm just not a bat person. I think they're cute, but I'm pretty apathetic towards them. I just can't picture wanting one bad enough to pay $30-$40 for one even if it's custom. Of course, I think that about half of the crap I see listed on Etsy.
>>

No need to be so salty. I mean, if you can make something (original of course) and have the ability to sell it more power to you.
>>
>>9320591

Anon is mad because they're one of those people selling bats for $40.
>>
>>9320819
Do people actually sell them for that much? They're not even big. Or detailed. They're like the size of a beanie baby and they're so simplistic...

>>
>>9321034

Honestly, I can't really shit on salty anon too much.

If you had to buy the pattern, fabric, thread, and the various other fiddly parts, then the price of the bat is already sitting around $20. If you're a perfectionist, the price goes up because you'd need multiple attempts or practice bats to get that perfect bat plush.

I've never used this particular pattern so I have no idea the amount of time it takes to make. If I make the assumption that it takes 4 hours from start to finish (probably a low estimate), then the labor cost doesn't even meet minimum wage.

And that's not even including other materials/inputs such as electricity or the cost of a sewing/embroidery machine.
>>
>>9321064
I call the biggest of bullshit on that pricing. If the patern is $6, fleece on sale is 4.99 a yard at joanns and you don't need a whole yard for one. Tread is like $2 at walmart, and a BIG box of stuffing for a good 100 bats is only $10. It's more like $15 and that's if you don't shop around or already have some parts like thread or stuffing.
Also consider saving a lot different pictures of them and drafting a pattern out of it. There are already tutorials with bat wing patterns, it's belly is a circle and ears are super simple too. You'd just have to draft the face and feet. That's how I figure out a lot of plushies

Estimate 1.jpg
193KB, 718x368px
Assumption 1: Newbie sewer decides to make a bat. Newbie sewer decides to go buy supplies to make said bat. They plan to make galaxy bats which require black fleece and galaxy fleece.

Assumption 2: We're shopping at Joann's and Walmart; Joann's is having a 50% sale on fleece OR we have a 50% coupon for our fabric

Assumption 3: Newbie sewer is hand sewing everything. They do not own a sewing machine.
>>
>>9321064
>>9321098
>>9321505
I would assume the fabric cost would be much lower seeing as it takes less than a yard per bat. Same with stuffing.

Either way it's also not accounting for labor time. Assuming $8 an hour at the least (going higher for experience and skills) and it takes a few hours to make, the end price may be higher.
>>

Thaaank you, I honestly wish more people withheld comments like that around handmade sellers like what's the point of saying it out loud, it's just plain rude. I'd rather people think it than say it; anyone creative and willful enough can reproduce an item.
>>
>>9325925

Any suggestions for organizing patterns you print out? I usually keep them in ziploc bags, but I have so many now it's ridiculous. Do you keep them in a box and sort through them? Or use folders to organize them? A filing cabinet?

What about sewing projects? How do you organize those?
>>
>>9328570
I have a single plastic storage/filing box with hanging folders and labels.Just put the patterns in large ziploc bags. Works just fine and I'm not close to running out of room yet.

Anybody tried to print plushie's parts like faces or patterns via Spoonflower?
>>
>>9330941
I've printed plain solid colors of minky before since there wasn't a color available I wanted, and it's alright. The minky is 1mm and the fabric is very thin. You can also see the white minky underneath the printed color. So basically around seams where the minky fibers don't lay flat you are going to see white beneath the color.
>>
>>9328803
Yes, I'll be sharing it.
The world needs more fumos.
>>
Has anyone got any patterns for basic shapes? Or any advice for plush shape making, I'm finding it difficult to make things more 3D. For example I've been trying to make a star plush but it seems so flat by cutting out two star shapes and stitching it together.
>>
>>9331842
Sometimes a thin strip between the two pieces will give it more dimension, or at least make it thicker.
>>
Does anyone have any experience with turning 3D models into plush patterns. I've been playing with the idea of trying UVmapping models to make pattern making easier. I've had a look at available software but the only thing close to what I want is impossible to pirate and $4000 if I were to buy it.
