Righteous. I am not sure if the person writing the reviews is in the SU fandom as well, but I do have a few recommended accounts:

Maphix (cosplays a WHOLE BUNCH of characters and is still adding more; I'm pretty sure her Peridot wig was on the good side of the wig spectrum that one anon made ages ago), Bakamonocosplay (she's the collage Rose from upthread), apple_strider (cosplays a lot with the other two)

Those are the only three I can think of off the top of my head, but I can go dig through the people I follow to suggest some more.

Altho, a pet peeve of mine is that a lot of people just seem to make flat coloured resin charms for gems that should be opaque.
Lapis Lazuli is technically a rock with lazulite in it, so Lapis' gem shouldn't be transparent, but have transparent elements in it. Same with Jasper.

I actually did some attempts a long time ago for opaque Lapis with flecks of gold, but sadly I had too many issues with the production process and decided to just go with regular transparent resin.

So my dad is a rockhound/miner by trade but is having a harder time selling now that everyone buys on the internet. There'd be a wider audience for thematic jewellery/accessories, though you could probably find a good base of niche buyers/collectors (I'm always seeing rock photos pop up on Tumblr and Instagram, usually tagged with the specific rock names, if you want to get the word out there).

CBC did a series of glass bubble pendants a while back that seemed pretty popular, and while exactly imitating the idea might not be advisable, if you or your dad can craft, you can make some fandom/aesthetic-oriented pieces, too.

There's a few reasons I'd be against cosplaying her now;
- not the biggest fan of white wigs, I've yet to see one in person that looks good
- I feel some facial structures don't look good with some hair styles and hair colours and she has one of them
- I was kind of excited to make myself a sari for cosplay purposes, but now she's wearing a very typical European style robe with hood and I'm bored of the aesthetic.

Nothing against her design, but it's just not something I'd invest time and money in recreating.

Iirc, her first visual iteration WAS The Answer, followed a few days later by It Could've Been Great, and that's where most people got the impression she was going to be Asian inspired. Kameez, lahenga, saree, palanquin, blah blah.
A lot of people picked up on them, but hey.
I might say she's just an old white haired indian woman, since asian's can go white rather than grey, but the Irish VA does throw that off a bit. Then again, Ruby is black coded but voiced by Charlene Yi. Who the fuck knows?

I wish the SU fandom would realize that the colors ARENT ever the same. Different artists color different episodes and colors change depending on the theme, how a character acts in that episode even. im thinking of using epic cosplay's fusion purple or whatever its called. her hair is slightly tinted purple/blue, just like how jasper's is white-blonde and amethyst's is white-purple. it's hard to get the color right but im thinking that might be my closest match, along with different wefts for the stripes in her hair

I'm going to cosplay Mystery Girl on Sunday at Katsucon and I'm really excited. She's going to be my comfy Sunday cosplay. I styled my wig and I'm really happy with it.

Face painter here. Go with TAG. Purple is a really tricky color to get right, but TAG lilac is super vivid because it's wax based. It may not be the exact right shade for amethyst but it is the nicest looking one. I love Mehron but their purples all suck ass. Wax based paints are also more shiny/opaque than water based.

Also I would suggest you get two shades so you can actually contour instead of having a big flat purple face which always looks awful.

i feel bad because i actually like her cosplay a lot, but the makeup is pretty heavy handed. the photo in >>9349010 does look like the contrast is up pretty high (it has the same 'dirty effect' on rose's face), or maybe it was a filter's fault. definitely could use some blending on the contour, though

I've been trying to place what seems "off" about this to me. It might be the heavy, dark lashes+brows that detract a lot from the overall smooth look of Pearl's face. Her contour looks alright in this photo imo, though I agree that the contrast seems to be bumped up too high in the first one.

Planning on being Holly Blue, but I've got no clue on how to do her hair buns. Should I get three different wigs and try to work them together somehow? I'm very much a novice with wigs, but I want to at least try.
