Been considering getting AC:NL, but I've been putting it off since I'm an adult that can't handle that kind of responsibility.

But I keep getting inspired by threads like this and pictures of people's ADORABLE towns. I would never be able to put into the amount of work needed for it but I'm getting serious cravings for it.

All my favorite villagers are probably gone. I really hope the next Animal Crossing is more lenient on punishing you for not playing.

I don't want to feel like taking a break from my game will make me lose my cute friends. Make it so they need to at least talk to you before moving. So, say you haven't played for 30 days, and 15 days into that break Lucky wants to move. The move countdown will still tick, but the move won't initiate until Lucky informs you. If you say "Yes" then they pack up next day.

Sounds fair to me. Sometimes I lose villagers even when I check on my game just because nobody brings up the "omg did you hear, they're moving!!" dialogue.

I feel like it would be fun to play with some gulls though.

I'm pretty sure you can only lose one villager when you're gone for that long. I stopped playing for a year and only lost one. You should boot it up and check on them anyway.

Also with the update, you have more time for moving villagers to convince them not to leave.

If a villager was planning on moving when you stopped playing then only that villager will have moved. They also increased the days it takes for villagers to move out with this update, 10 days instead of 7.

I just recommend waiting until gamstop does deals on the card packs though. It's worth it.

Don't forget to make cute paths.
Villagers seem to avoid moving onto spaces with patterns on them so use that to you benefit and make a residential area away from the rest of your stuff
Just be careful of dropping anything on them or it will be swallowed by the void.

The new Amiibo update lets you choose who you want to move into your town with cards and who will move out in your place. Creating a new character on the day they move in allows you to view, quit and redo to get perfect house placement. Perfect town easily now.

You just time travel.
Move forward and backwards at least one day, go in to check if someone wants to leave, intervene if necessary, go out change the day, repeat until you're tired.
Eventually you'll get rid of your hated ones in no time.
Just make sure to have the "Make my town beautiful" ordinance active or else your town will succumb to the weeds.

Yo, I do plot reset, also now you can make your villager move only on certain areas by using qr paths, but anon was talking about how you never know which villager is going to move in next and sometimes it just makes the effort of moving an ugly piece of shit rather useless when the next move in could be uglier, even if the placement of their house is ideal.
In the end you end playing with the clock more than playing the game as it is.

I'm strongly considering resetting (have been playing sporadically over the last year and bleeding favorites every time). My only favorites left are Muffy and Naomi and all of the other garbage has made it their goal to be as close to either a building or my house as possible. Damage controlling 8 shitty villagers seems like too much work.

Carmen just moved into my town on the DAY I was going to reset. I've been waiting for her for ages and now I don't know what to do.

I've got her, Vesta, Blanche, Hamphery, and Zell out of my favorites. Actively trying to get rid of Benedict and Broffina, just got rid of Beardo yesterday, Cousteau is leaving on the 19th, and I feel indifferent about Phoebe but she's not awful.+Grizzly, who I've had since day 1, and he's cranky so he'll never leave no matter what I do so I've learned to live with him.

I had Julian when i started out, but I accidentally fucked up and he moved out... he's one of my all-time faves, but it'll take me literal years to get him back at this rate.
