Gulls, what items have you picked up at normalfag stores that work with J-fash? Do you have any tips for finding compatible items?

I think its possible to find cardigans and blouses at non-lolita stores, but you have to have a good idea for what details make an item "loliable" or be craft-y enough to add things yourself. I think its probably something that beginners shouldn't try.

That being said H&M and Forever 21 have some suitable blouses and H&M has some sweaters that are decent.

OP here. Inspired to make this thread because I found a bunch of frilly socks at walmart this weekend on clearance. Would love to see how other gulls supplement their wardrobes! I dress in mostly casual cute and himekaji.

basics like camis, socks, and the like are cheaper to buy in a normalfag store than to import. like >>9248540 said, you can find nice cardigans, sweaters, and sometimes accessories (mostly hats and jewelry) from normalfag places.

I have several of Kate Spade's novelty purses that I use for jfash as well. They've got a really cute pastel cross body this month that looks like a makeup palette.

My big tip for thrift stores is that if I'm trying to find another decently loliable cardigan I will often bring one of my Baby JSKs with me. That way once I'm in the changing room I can try it with the dress and see if the cardi hits at the right spot on the waist (or could be altered that way). I wear a lot of cardigans with my daily coords so I do this quite often.

To be honest though it can be hard to find something loliable. I tend to be picky with the finer details so if it doesn't feel right I reject it. Sometimes I wonder if the girls I've seen with thrifted cardigans do this or not because they either look normie or frumpy.

The things I usually find are tights, blouses, and shoes.

Myself and others have found actual lolita brand items. I found the Love! Heart Frill Bolero in white with the front bow missing.

I think some of Betsey Johnson's purses are cute with lolita, depending on which one you get. I see them for sale at Ross/DD's.
>>
I frequent Ross, and I've found really cute stuff there! Mostly blouses and shirts that work for casual cute jfash. Nice purses and shoes on occasion too

I've had a lot of luck at goodwill with skirts, and it's always worth taking a look for the hell of it

And for some reason I've had a lot of luck at Target? Maybe not so recently but some of my favorite sweaters and cardis are from there. I've cropped some cardis from the children's section to work well with lolita

sorry for samefag but agree 100%, some of Betsey's less gaudy stuff can work really nicely. recently picked up a few adorable loli-able bags and wallets of hers from Ross, and some of her jewelry can be really cute too!

I think generally the simpler palette ones(usually I see the ones with the heart pattern sew into the material) that I think look cute with lolita. One of my favorite purses is a Betsey Johnson one.

I actually find a bunch of Liz Lisa items at my nearest Value Village, must be all of the international students that come through here.
>>
Go search goodwills around campuses and such. You'll find actual jfash brands instead of just stuff that fits with it. Just remember with thrifting you sometimes have to go ten times before you hit gold so don't be dissapointed if you can't find anything.

Some of my favorite personal finds were bodyline creepers, Liz Lisa heels, nanchatte cardigans, some white oxfords with pastel blue accents and hearts, etc.
>>
For things like cardigans it really depends on what's in style at the time. A few years ago cropped cardigans were in fashion so it was easy to find some basic pieces to wear with lolita jsks. Same goes for blouses - lace blouses were common a few years ago. It's pretty hard to find stuff lately so I don't look any more. I'm hoping the styles shift back soon.

I agree Betsey Johnson has some cute stuff. I miss her boutiques. I found so much cute stuff in there that worked well with lolita. Now most of what she churns out is all either really gaudy or normalfag. That bag is nice though.
>>
Any recommendations for European stores that can have loliable items? We have an H&M but no F21 and I don't even know what Ross is.
>>
>>9248788
I've only been in there once, I'll have to visit again. Sometimes I get sick of wading throughnall the normalfag stuff though.

>Target
The kids section can be really great for Pop-kei

Target is great for boots, especially when it's off season clearance

Speaking of Kate Spade and Betsey Johnson, do they do replicas now?

Both designs are fairly common though, especially the Kate Spade one.
>>
Dangerfield has some great blouses and cardis although their current stuff is kinda lacking... also recently found their clearance store has gone online... bye money~
>>
Forever21 is having an 11:11 sale.

Sauce for that beaded carousel bag?
>>
>>9252115
It's Judith Leiber. Her bags are super tiny (like lipstick and keys only) and like $4k USD.
