Giant zippers do exist, actually. A google search brings up this result, for example: http://gear.orgxiii.org/product-category/zippers/30-giant-zippers/
I imagine that these were colored to match, and the pulls are obviously handmade.

im feeling a burning need to cosplay someone from part 5 now probably abbacchio
So my sewing machine doesn't exist anymore. Ideas for making the gloves and belt?
>>9235652
I really want to, my biggest problems are I don't know what to do about his weird egg hat and what fabric to use for his suit because I don't really want to sew a pleather suit. I also have pretty big hips that might make me look stumpy but I still want to try
>tfw no feminine enough for a Bruno cosplay
>>9235633
Start stitching it by hand, or an adhesive if you're super lazy.
I did this for halloween its not good.
>>9235709
Do you mean how to make the hat or how to keep it on? I'm afraid I can't help you much with the former but with the latter, try hair combs like pic related. One or two should be enough.
As for fabric, I've seen one cosplayer that used some sort of satin for their suit but I'm not convinced it's a good alternative. Even if you use high quality satin, it doesn't drape the same way PVC or vinyl does.
>>9235941
This guy >>9235584 >>9235589 isn't as androgynous or feminine looking compared to the others and he still makes a good Buccellati imo.

as a short skinny dude, i've never thought about cosplaying any jojo characters.. but having picked up the manga, the new art for all the characters on the covers are much more realistically proportioned. i'm probably going to do young jonathan on the left, and take pictures with my friends dalmatian
i probably won't be recognized, but it'll be fun to make with
>no canon colours
>>9236937
Do it! I've been purchasing the new editions as they get released and it's interesting to see Araki's current art style featured in parts where everyone's a big muscular dude.

My partner and I are planning to do a Jotaro/Star Platinum or Josuke/Crazy Diamond duo. Would others find it odd for the stand to be female while the JoJo is male? Or do y'all think it'd be better to do it the other way around?
Asking here because the help thread wasn't too helpful. Thoughts on this colors for the hand? I'm torn between doing it in the same color as the uniform, or making it in a contrasting color like say, purple.
>>9237574
Because this is jojo, you could basically do anything, but really it depends on what kind of feel youd like to have. If you want to go with something brighter you could have hot pink accents on the hand, or make him different shades of brown or silver etc. for a more earthy feel. If youre really stumped you can mess around with a color wheel for a while until you find something to match the green that youre satisfied with.
>>9237536
I don't see why not.

Possibly. There's plenty of time until summer so you can lose the extra weight, the question is whether you can learn to sew and style a wig by then but I suppose anything is possible if you're dedicated. Stay motivated, anon!

where do I even begin with kakyoin's wig? I've never really done any wig styling except for some basic trimming and bang styling. Should I get a shorter wig and do the weird bang with wefts or should I cut a long? should I worry about the weird hairline and try to get a lace front, do some sort of glued hairline, or not worry about it? should I just say fuck it and try to commission it? I don't know any advice would be good at this point
>>9242011
Fellow kakyoin cosplayer here! They way I did his wig was by getting a shorter wig (specifically a Jett from arda wigs) and sewing in the wefts for his hair noodle. It's easiest way to go about it porbably. If you are really worried about his hairline you could always do a glued hairline, though I personally didn't bother going that extra mile.

Did anyone here really struggle to get into Jojo?? I've really been trying but getting nowhere. I love the style, look and designs used in Jojo and I love Joseph, young and old. One draw back to this entire series though, the creator seems to hate animals.
I really want to love this show and cosplay the amazin females but I cant get past this.
>>9252972
Eh, fictional animal death doesn't really faze me; I mean it's awful but it hasn't made me stop reading. The only part I struggled with was VA, for different reasons entirely.
Who do you want to cosplay, anon?
>>9252972
> being this new
Araki loves animals, that's why villains (except for Kars for some reason) tend to be awful towards them.
>>9252972
That's great if he does! I just think find the constant brutality against them distracting. I asked a friend to fill me in on if its a regular thing and was answered with a yes. I didn't know anything about it though when watching the first episode and caught me really off guard, its a good method to make your characters instantly evil but...leave the dogs alone man.
>>9252972
Yukako and Lisa Lisa I love. Would love to cosplay Yukako
>>9253054
He doesn't hate all animals. Just mostly dogs. He loves horses and turtles.
>>9253070
>turtles
>>9252849
i gasped, good one
>>9252972
>Man that dude just got his head pushed in, haha rip
>That dog died, this is UN-FUCKING-ACCEPTABLE HOW IS ARAKI NOT IN JAIL
I mean, yeah dogs are cute and stuff, but the ratio of human to animal deaths in JoJo is a pretty big one.
>>9253473
I've been into Jojo for nearly 10 years now and I totally get what >>9252972 means. Animals are innocent and act on instinct, so to some people (myself included), animal violence and death hurts a lot more than human violence and death.
This is a Jojo thread though, so let's not get too off topic with this subject.
My advice to anon is to just stick to the manga and not the anime, as it's easier to deal with when it isn't animated. It's a brilliant story, and animal violence really shouldn't stop you from loving it. It's just a way to make the villains unlikable, and it works.
>>9253473
To be fair, some of the animal deaths are pretty brutal. Remember the dog from Aqua Necklace?
>>9253487
Yeah that one was pretty bad. Oddly enough though, I can't think of any animal deaths past Part 4.
For some reason I have the feeling that there's at least one brutal death in 5 or 7 though.
>>9253486
Manga is quicker to skip over the animal deaths too. It took me a long time to pick it back up. Now it's a personal meme that Araki just hates dogs.
>>9253486
Thanks for this! I'm glad it's not just me, the creator does seem like a genuinely cool guy and I love Shoko Nakagawa's interview with him. It is the animals are innocent, they dont know. Some dude though,eh.
I'm going to give the manga a go though in future, the designs in each part Ive seen are so rad.
This Black Sabbath is probably the best Jojo cosplay I've ever seen. Almost looks like it would fit in a Vento Aureo movie.
Does anyone have more photos? Especially full body shots - I want to see how they handled his weird chicken feet.
>>9255441
Oh, found a (tiny) full body shot. The rest of the cosplay is a little lacking compared to the head. Especially the feet there. Not really the weird, grubby, chicken feet he has in the manga.
>>9250718
I am definitely with >>9251182 on the idea of using Gappy color schemes as base for a Kira. If you're planning on adding splashes of Purple I think that the way the Ultra Jump Shorts design did it is my favorite accented purple Gappy. It has a lot going on while still bein' pretty conservative. I think it would fit Kira pretty well
>>9261026
It's a shame that such an amazing KQ is wasted on a meh Kira.

What do you guys think about gijinka cosplays of stands?
>>9268703
Do you have any examples or are you asking hypothetically?
Can someone explain to me why the hell 95% of jojo cosplayers are woman? Ive seen a couple guys in this thread with jojo cosplays but other than that its like non existant?
>>9268725
Does it really matter? If the cosplay is well made and the person wearing it does the character justice, then gender is irrelevant.
>>9268703
I've seen some cool looking gijinka Stand designs but I think they probably won't be very recognizable (if at all) as cosplays.
>>9268734
No yeah youre right. Its just a little suprising to me i guess
>>9268725
Because Araki's style after Part 4 is more androgynous/feminine than the ultra masculine style of early Part 4 and before; especially so in parts 5, 7, and 8.
>>9269019
So if i go to a con my chance of seeing a part 4 and up jojo character is far better than seeing a part 1-3? Guess its time to get fucking ripped so i can be johnathan.
>>9269038
I generally see more Jotaros and Part 5 characters than anything, but the fact that the Part 4 anime is almost done means we'll probably see more Josukes and shitty Kiras.
>>9268725
It probably helps that more female cosplayers know contouring than male ones.
>>9269038
>Guess it's time to get fucking ripped so I can be Jonathan
You betcha it's time. The only good Jonathan I've seen is pic related and I was severely upset when I found his arms are shooped.
>>9269111
>tfw my arms are bigger than this
>tfw I still feel too small to cosplay a jojo
>Tfw I have no face.
>>9269502
Youll always feel too small for Johnathan bc fuck hes huge in the show/book
My JoJo panel got approved for ALA! I hope some of you can make it. We'll have prizes.
I can't decide what to cosplay for it though. Help me decide. Should I do Norisuke from Jojolion, Joshu, or
Part 8 Johnny Joestar with a paper mache rock crushing my head
>>9269590
Norisuke would be great, or Josefumi.
>>9269502
The series is being re-released with Araki's currently art style on the covers. Pic related is a much slimmer Jonathan. Really, as long as you have some muscle you'll be good but take solace in the fact that Araki doesn't draw everyone as big muscle heads anymore.
So I'm planning on crossplaying DIO a nd as such was going to pack for that authentic bulge look or do y'all think that's too creepy?
>>9269590

>>9269937

>>9269937
I cosplayed as weather report and was going to do a bulge as well, and I had to scrap it in the end because it was just obscene and unnesecary
>>9269951
>obscene and unnecessary
To be fair, that's pretty much what Dio is.

I hope I'm not in over my head, though I have about 4 months until the next convention I would even be able to wear this at.
My google-fu as pointed me to McCall's Civil War uniform costume pattern (pic related), but how would I go about modifying it to have the open chest? Would this even be an easy enough pattern to follow being a complete noob?
>>9298723
Just how I feel, but I think Bukakke's suit jacket is too weird to just make from a regular one. Look up some Bruno cosplayers and maybe see if they are willing to either let you use their patterns or buy them for a small fee.

>>9298723
Self posting my Bruno jacket, I have used the McCall's Civil War pattern before for that exact jacket for Koichi, it's an older pattern and a pain to follow for experienced seamstresses even. I wouldn't recommend it for beginners or for a Bruno jacket.
For my Jacket I modified a womens jacket pattern from Kwik Sew I believe it was, it didn't include a lining pattern but that's easy enough to make up yourself if you know what you're doing.
While we're on the subject of Bruno, how would one go about doing the chest bind and decorative piece on his open chest?
My friend who is planning to do this cosplay is planning to skirt the whole issue by doing a genderbend (which grinds my gears because the rest of us in this group are not), but it got me wondering this question nonetheless.
>>9301183
The most obvious route would be a cut out that it's then attached to the jacket.

I'd rather see a George Joestar
Finished Joubin tonight, sans makeup! I'm going to be wearing him all day Friday of Katsucon, are any other Jojolion cosplayers going??
(Also, Im a bit torn on whether to wear these shoes or some plain loafers I have that are more accurate to his design. Any input?)

I'll be going as Aishou. Those shoes look surprisingly good, but I would probably go for accuracy

Man you look wicked, I wish i was going to Katsu. I cosplay Daiya but I'd rather cosplay Karera or Love Love Deluxe one day

I haven't decided what day I want to do everything yet, but I'll probably do Aishou whatever day the jojo photo shoot is

I think I'm gonna have the loafers for my proper shoot and then switch into the flashy ones later just for fun lol. It's awesome you're doing Aishou!! I was hoping someone would eventually do him. I'd love to take some pictures with you if you decide to do him Friday!

Thank you! Ah you should, I never see any Kareras, which is a shame considering the good number of Josefumis and Kiras out there.

I drop in from time to time when I have noteworthy progress to share, or want some feedback. Or if I'm stumped with some weird thing and check if others have found a solution lol. And thanks!!

I've been doing my Aishou cosplay pretty much since he first appeared, you can actually see me in the background of a picture from earlier in the thread

If you look anything at all like him, then the absolute #1 choice would be going as Araki and telling everyone the mask is the reason you're still so young etc.
meanwhile, in america...

>Complaining about high fashion shoots in a Jojo thread.
>Where Araki gets inspiration from
>Where it goes full circle & this is from a high fashion shoot based on Araki designs
