I'm gonna be making rei's black plugsuit from rebuild. Any advice on choosing materials?

I'd recommend the trap threads on /soc/, you are cute by their standards.
/cgl/ has a tendency to give their best to contain crossdressers in the two respective threads.

OP here, I'd like to cosplay Asuka's plugsuit too but in case I can't make my own from scratch, what's a good/reliable place to get one? (I might be able to do alterations, especially non-sewing ones)

I bought a plugsuit from zentai zentai. If you're willing to add some detailed parts in worbla or similar it's a good alternative to andromeda. For the price you get a good base suit imo (for the money I spent I couldnt have made a better suit all by myself).

You can have it made fit to your measurements. I myself bought a Kaworu plugsuit, so I used the measurements my body has when I bind my boobs, went for more waist circumference so I don't look too feminine etc.

I am currently waiting for my undergarments to arrive (so I can put on the suit easier, right now I am afraid of ripping anything when putting it on even though it fits well when it's all on and you take your time). I'm also in the process of moving houses, so I don't have the patience to do it right now. I can post a photo here on /cgl/ sometime when all of that is done, though.

Not so much the plugsuit, but I like Lyz Brickley's Asuka.
I wish more people did more natural looking colors for her as opposed to obnoxious bright orange.

oh god i saw you on the #asukacosplay instagram tag when i was looking for inspo on how to cut the bangs.

i dont think your body is much of a problem but the facial features are just way off of a petite feminine girl such as asuka. and your posing looks very masculine as well.

i know you probably don't notice much because you're a guy, but you look really stiff in the picture and your eye makeup looks like elmers glue on the lower lash line. Make your eyebrows match your wig and then I would say it's a fairly decent cosplay, although people would still know you're a guy.

on that note, im glad people seem to like a more natural hair colour for asuka as my wig is a mix of dark orange/brown and i was scared that it wasnt going to look as nice as the flashy orange like everyone else seems to have.

Thanks, I'll try that out :) Today I wore the costume again, I tried more subtle contouring and also acted in-character for a while and tried to feel "kawaii", and in the end someone took a (non-shopped) photo of me where I don't look horrifyingly masculine. In the end, I feel that one of the problems was that I just acted and felt like my regular, masculine self and didn't really get into the Asuka "feel".

As for the lower lash line, I used white eyeliner there - should I not?

I tried the Eowyn in Pumpkin from Arda. It's decent, but tangles easily and the bangs look a bit funny (these seem to be problems with most of their long wigs).

Currently I'm planning to add lowlights to a copper red Nyx from EpicCosplay with a vermillion Copic marker, so we'll see how that goes <3
