Post your favourite cosplays derived from western comic books or graphic novels.
Bonus points if it's not Marvels/DC's main cast of super heroes or their respective cinematic universes (though those are obviously welcome too).
Some questions to kick us off:
>Any comic book cosplans?
>What's a comic book/graphic novel with some cosplayworthy designs?
>Your latest comic book cosplay?
I'm pretty new to move from anime to western, and most cons in my country are eastern focused, so I mostly see MCU or Batman stuff. Will try to dump some, but I'm seriously lacking in content so help would be appreciated.
>>9192024
That guy just nailed it!
>>9192034
It is a good photo, but I think I'd like it a bit rougher. Less anime, I guess. Personal preference, though.
>>9192040
Honestly, this girl is just spot on.
As it turns out, Russians are just all over W.I.T.C.H.
Ran into Tintin/Haddock slah for this. Go me.
>>9192031
holy shit i love w.i.t.c.h. that series is so under cosplayed because the designs dont translate well in 3d
>>9192040
I really dig the wig, it reminds me of the dolls people made of Morpheus.
>>9192080
>what is this, a picture for ants?
I'm planning to make a cosplay of The Brand from Saga. I'm not really into western comics for the most part, but I like Saga and Sandman, and I'm getting into other Brian K Vaughn works.
For mainstream comic stuff, I'd like to do Captain Marvel after I build some more muscle.
>>9192034
couldn't have done it without Photoshop
>>9192123
marvel captain marvel or dc captain marvel?
>>9192034
considering that's a woman who shoops herself to look like a man, of course she nails it, because she's good at photoshop.
>>9192017
>Any comic book cosplans?
It's funny you started the thread with Sandman. I'm planning to go as Death to my local comic shop's Halloween party.
>What's a comic book/graphic novel with some cosplayworthy designs?
Although I live in an European country, I barley see cosplays from European comics. I would love to see a good Ekhö cosplay.
>Your latest comic book cosplay?
Catbug gijinka (if it counts, considering it started as a webshow)
>>9192157
Marvel, Carol Danvers with the cool hair.
I want to do Darkman very bad since I have nearly everything now, but I can never find a good con to show him at. Thinking maybe Comikaze this year.
>>9192715
You should dirty up those bandages, also you should carry around some silly putty as you fake skin.
>>9192071
I'm not sure I agree with them not translating all that well, I think a lot of it has to do with the comic not being big in the US. Kinda want to do Phoebus.
>>9192123
I was thinking of doing Marco, but I'm so pale it might just look stupid.
>>9192715
Seconding what other anon said, but you should also try and tighten the bandages up. Maybe make it like a balaclava so you know everything will stay in place? It looks pretty frumpy right now.
>>9192173
I mean part of me is like "cool I love carol," but the other part of me just wants some shazamfam love.
good luck anon!
>Any comic book cosplans?
I've got a bunch of sparkly stretch knit sitting around with donna troy's name on it
>What's a comic book/graphic novel with some cosplayworthy designs?
I'd love to see some zodiac starforce cosplay & more idw jem that doesn't look like trash (I'll probably wind up doing both myself)
>Your latest comic book cosplay?
surprisingly the only comic cosplay I've done was Supergirl a few years ago...huh
>>9194266
pic dropped
>mfw favorite comic is somewhat obscure
>mfw have cosplay from it, but everyone just assumes I'm some random military lady
Pic related. The cosplayer on the left is from the comic, with the creator in the middle.
>>9192022
Omg so good
>>9192017
she is hot, his wig is really sad.
>>9192017
pretty good, but the make up could be better on both and dream's wig need help
>>9194266
Donna Troy is love
Pic is old and quality is shit, but I like the lighting in this shot. I've only worn this a few times recently, but I guess I'll find a newer pic soon
>>9192071
>w.i.t.c.h.
holy shit I thought the design looked familiar but I couldnt put my finger on it. I used to read these like crazy when I was younger
>>9194438
there's such a sad lack of cosplay of her at all the cons I go to. you'd think with the #spaceaesthetic shit all over the place more people would be all over that... but sadly nothing.
>new 52 ruining everything
>>9194401
give the OP the wig of the second Dream that was posted!
>>9194447
Honestly, they were really, really good comics. Kept quality for a while before jumping the shark, too.
>>9194388
>>9194513
Second Dream is far too neat. Morpheus hair in- comic is a 80's punk looking mess.
>>9194514
the top pic has the mess down, but sadly not the punk.
I do a lot of comic cosplays. Mostly because the cons I have ended up going to have been veering away from anime and video games, so I try to keep my cosplays more relevant to the con atmosphere.
Also self posting my Red Robin. I need to update the shitty belt.
>>9194788
I love seeing good rat queens groups
>>9194798
don't worry about the belt, get a better cowl
>>9194798
Iron your cape.
anyone seen any monstress cosplay yet? too soon?
>>9192017
Kind of unrelated but I always like the look of Sandman cosplays and wonder if there's anywhere online to read Sandman without buying 343719y57297359 books?
>>9192017
No pun intended, but it's been a dream of mine to cosplay as Dream. While essentially simple, makes it easier to mess up. Soon enough, it'll be a reality.
>>9195874
Borrow them from a library.
>>9192017
Lesbians always end up looking alike?!
I winged a Hellblazer outfit for comic book day at work a while back.
>>9196632
Where are your fags, fag
>>9195673
I like

>Any comic book cosplans?
I want to do one of the female GLs in the future, but spandex is hard to deal with and I'm still trying to figure out how I could make a nice looking construct prop.
>>9196221
i keep forgetting libraries exist
I've been wanting to cosplay empowered forever, but I'm always too insecure in my body and not sure how I would do it so that it looks accurate since her suit is supposed to be tighter than spandex
>>9194343
YES! My friend and I talked about cosplaying as these two years ago, but he's passed away.
>>9195874
You can buy an omnibus, it's expensive, but worth it in the end.
>>9198745
I did that. Now I am the proud owner of 5 enormous black leather books full of wonder. Best ÂŁ200 I ever spent.
>>9192040
Holy shit I was so obsessed with W.I.T.C.H as a kid thanks for the nostalgia kick anon!
Never really expected to see someone cosplay from Johnny the Homicidal Maniac
>>9198894
Isn't that the comic made by the guy who made Zim? Is it worth a read?
>>9198894
I'm impressed with how accurate this is.
>>9199195
It's less LOLRANDUMB (it's still there, but not as predominant) and edgelord to the max, but does still have some poignancy and depth. At the end of the day, you do feel genuinely sorry for Nny and he's a pretty sympathetic character.
If you loathed Zim and absolutely couldn't handle the random humor, you probably won't like it but otherwise, it's worth going through. It also doesn't take a huge commitment since there aren't a ton of volumes.
>>9197639
My pocket, you utter nonce. Think some company's gonna take a photo of one of their employees puffing on a fag for a promotional photo?
>>9192024
If this wasn't Fahr I would have probably liked it. But because it is... it is just cringe.
>>9199307
Drama?
Anyone seen any good WicDiv (the Wicked + the Divine) cosplays?
>oh a western indie comic thread
>nothing but saga and comics so old there are children with licenses younger than them
I don't know what I expected
>>9204577
I enjoy both those series but yeah, let's get some more variety up in here anons.
Sorry pic is for ants. I'm having a hard time finding many satisfying Nimona cosplays.
>>9204577
>>9204768
sorry to complain and ditch. I was on lunch break and had less time than I thought
>>9204850
don't know why it was namefagging
>>9194266 for you anon
>>9204858
and an oldie because I can't help myself
everything else I could think of was either too obscure to have anything or too big and casual to have search filled with anything other than closet cosplay
Any other stuff from Image books? They're really putting out some good stuff lately.
>>9204833
What's this from?
>>9207877
rat queens (image comics). good book, I would recommend it.
>>9207494
not from any of their new stuff, unfortunately. I tried to find descender and some others, but most of their stuff is either a shitshow of bad cosplay (wicdiv) or too obscure/unrecognizable to have picked up much attention yet
>>9207889
Oooh, I recognize that! I believe I was glancing at it earlier, so I'll definitely give it a second look then.
>>9197696
I get that. I've been wanting to cosplay Paradax for the longest time but every time I just bail cuz I'm a perfectionist, plus things come up.
