What do you guys think about this?
dash con 2: the electric boogaloo
This can only end in disaster.

I know I'm excited.
I call bullshit. A con doesn't costs $7000. It costs way more. Sounds scammy.
If its at a beach then then it seems more like a gathering which in that case just have to file for a permit to gather within the town. That doesn't cost much. Not $7000.

HAHAHAHAHAHA

Well apparently it's going to be a hotel and conference center.

wait, a steven universe convention? Oh god. 1st off, a single fandom conventions is always bad. 2nd Steven Universe has possible the worst fan base there is.
I love the pledge tiers "Limited Edition Beach City Con Themed Gift". Can't wait to see what that ends up being.
This is going to be great.

The Fire and Ice [Game of Thrones] convention is very popular, going 4 years now. Same with the Harry Potter, Penny Arcade, Disney, Star Trek, Star Wars, My Little Pony...
I mean. You have a huge fandom to buy tickets.
>>9176955
I think it's more the type of fans that will go this one in particular.
>I actually think it's going to be fine
The people running this are the same people who've been holding Ice and Fire Con for the last four years. They're actual adults (versus randos on Tumblr who thought it'd be fun to throw a party in the middle of Fuckit, IL) with experience in organizing conventions. And they mention that they're capping attendance at 500 people, when most first-year conventions without attendance caps can hit 800-1k people, so they won't be short on registration.
I'd go if it was west coast. Like >>9177017 said, staff knows what they're doing.
Woooo! I hope it's real.
That's not too far from TN and I could wear Stevonnie again *0*

I think it's great. The more fandom focused conventions that pop up means smaller but more dedicated attendance and more intimate experiences, akin to the close-knit feeling of old timey scifi and anime cons. A nice break from the mega cons. Plus, it draws away non-anime content that has tended to settle in anime cons like a layer of fine ash coating the surroundings of a newborn volcano of fan fervor.
