Jfash meaning big recognizable names/styles like gyaru, lolita, decora, etc.
The dress here looks just like that really popular VM dress with tons of replicas.
What do you guys think of wearing lolita/jfash for a character cosplay?
Apparently this is a Boz dress
>>9154449
If you want lolita's to hate you you should wear lolita for a cosplay
It's quite old, but there was a gyaru girl in a Teen Titans movie
>>9154457
Well that is the typical response. But would you rather see a horrible tacky ita mess "cosplay lolita" or one that, while is cosplay, features legitimate lolita clothing?
GLB also has small manga segments whose characters are obviously supposed to be lolita/aristo/ouji.
>>9154453
So it is! It doesn't look exactly the same but close enough to be recognizable.
When I was a young weeb and into lolita, Anju Maaka was who I would've cosplay lolita-d as.
There's a gothic lolita in a manga I once read called Sugar Soldier, She often gets mistaken as a princess by younger children which is cute
There are some characters in Shiki that wear j-fash. I can't find the picture but Sunako wore the AP Marionette Doll set.
did everyone just forget paradise kiss or
>>9154647
Well Ai Yazawa kinda dropped off the face of the earth
>>9154652
that's not relevant at all?
>>9154643
This one?
>>9154664
>artist stops illustrating and publishing manga for seven+ years
>geez why does nobody bring up her series anymore?
Anon.
>>9154670
At least Paradise Kiss was finished. It's Nana that got stuck in hiatus.
>>9154643
>>9154667
>>9154467
Speaking of GLB manga segments, let's never forget this (chicken) fucker.
>>9154670
anon ppl are bringing up old glb manga bits are you retarded
>>9154710
They were talking about Ai Yazawa's manga, not manga from the GLB.
>>9154667
Yep!
>>9154777
Same manga, just a different character
Don't know if this counts but Honey and Clover made the mori style rather famous?
>>9154652
To be fair I heard she has some major health issues.
>>9154786
What series is this? The art style is great
One of my fav manga has a pretty accurate lolita characer
>>9154803
Would this be considered decent old school?
This was the first jfash/lolita image I ever saw actually (back in middle school).
>>9154647
RIP Yazawa-sama
>>9154808
The first thing I notice is that the skirt is too short, it's like mid-thigh on her.
That said, half the lolita posted on here are plagued with skirts that are too short, so.
I remember reading Doors of Chaos a long time ago
>>9154803
aww man, +Anima gives me such nostalgia feels. Nana had some super cute outfits (that would look terrible on anyone who wasn't actually a child)
Please don't forget CLAMP and the xxxholic character that created the famous ita dress.
>>9154664
Pretty sure there was some news where Yazawa announced she'd be finishing Nana recently. Can't find the article though.
There's one Detective Conan case where ganguro are getting beaten up, if that counts.
>>9154809
Is she wearing VW?
>>9154963
They're not very well dressed, though. But their fashion choices are directly related to the case.
>inb4 pic for ants
Under the Glass Moon.
It may be Korean, but I can't ignore hot guys with long hair. They all look like members of Malice Mizer after a rough night. XD;; Bonus points for someone who totally isn't Mana with tits, riding a broom.
>>9155019
>XD;;
anon no
>>9154803
It's Kanojo o Mamoru 51 no Houhou by Furuya Usamaru.
The Goth-Loli Sisters from The Wallflower (still a dream group for me) even though what they wear isnt the most attractive. But a lot of the stuff the main characters wear are VK because the aithor's a massive vi fan.
There is always Peach Girl.
>>9154963
Yep. A couple of characters in Nana wear VW. Honestlu everyone is super fashionable in the series if you've never read it. One of the main characters is punk, the other one is just a generally fashionable young lady with some bintage onspire stuff, otome-kei, and others, there is a gyaru (though she's npt in it much), someome in what I'd say is early natural kei, and all around some good vhoices in clothing. But Ai Yazawa always has such stylish characters.
>>9155036
Tripfriend pls, are you drunk or typing with your elbows?
I feel like Gyaru mangas are slightly on the rise right now.
Fairly new examples are Hajimete no Gal and Hoshino, Me o Tsubutte.
Both are fairly new and have a gyaru as the female MCs. Also /a/ is shitting themself on a regular basis over Galko-chan.
>>9154465
Is the pic you posted supposed to be an example of tacky ita mess or cosplay with legitimate lolita clothing?
>>9155159
It's the actress who played the main character in the adaptation of Deka Wanko, she wears quite a bit of AP and Putumayo on the show and her coords are unconventional.
Okay but how many "lolitas" in anime/manga have had an accurate outfit?
>>9154803
+Anima was such a cute series, it's a shame it didn't get more popular.
Dramacon doesn't really count as far as legitimate fashion choices go, but it does feature a highly believable "first runinto lolita" type scene. Also a very accurate depiction of a first time cosplayer. I actually find it a pretty entertaining read, haha.
Putumayo had a Show By Rock collab with some clothing based off the Shingancrimsonz. I think they were supposed to be a parody of old vk bands but meme magic happened.
>>9155177
Hardly any as you can see from this thread. You can see a difference between mangaka who love alt fashion and mangaka who wants to please their male fans,at least I think that's why nearly all of them have too short skirts.
Dokuhime has some pretty examples.
>>9155740
Uryuu Minene from Mirai Nikki wears a lolita dress.
Also Kuroneko from OreImo is a lolita, plus her outfits were pretty legitimate.
Panty from Panty & Stocking too.
>no Shirobako
Cmon guys, every time we have a thread about this I have to be the one who posts it
>>9154699
OH MY GOD I WILL NEVER FORGET.
Their love is true I am sure...
One of the first things that really made me want to wear lolita is Dolls by Yumiko Kawahara. It's very much OTT, but I always found the level of detail in it stunningly beautiful and I'm a sucker for melancholic oldschool shoujo. I was lucky enough to find the books but it can be read online as well. Here's a small dump.

Mihara Mitsukazu illustrated for the first vew volumes of GLB so she's pretty knowledgeable about lolita, old-school in particular.
>>9154449
test
Momiji Noda from Cat Street. She got bullied for wearing lolita to school instead of her school uniform and dropped out of that school to sew clothes all day.
Don't know if Rozen Maiden counts but Innocent World did a collaboration a few years ago.
>>9155801
>Goth-loli-sama
I liked how she would actually change outfits
>>9156097
My favorite part was when she talked about creating a lolita baseball anime
I think Nacchi and Macchi from Yankee-kun to Megane-chan were supposed to be gyaru-style guys.
>>9156102
>all that dirt and sand staining the dresses
>>9156097
>Doesn't know if the quintessential lolita inspiration from back in the day counts as lolita in manga
You're just a bad person, newfag
>>9156167
In my defense, I've seen lolitas call it ita and the manga approached the topic more as doll clothes rather than j-fashion. Wasn't sure if the context fit what OP wanted (whether they wanted dolls dressed in doll clothes or modern Japanese teenage girls sticking out next to peers)
>>9156111
It's okay, the dresses are bodyline
>>9156167
I feel really old now. Most girls I talked to when it was new-ish thought the clothes were ita and didn't count as lolita because they're actual dolls and not a fashion for humans.
>>9154916
Ame-warashi.
She's my favorite flavor of 'salty bitch'
>>9155817
>doki doki
Plant Dolls will always have a special place in my heart.
>>9156177
ok anon. Sure thing.
One of my favorites from a more recent season.
>>9156221
Yup, ita as fuck. No wonder IW had to make significant changes to all the collabs they made.
>>9156229
one: those are chibis
two: you are not a lolita, gimme that top hat you little cunt.
Clamp did more than just xxxHolic, and I can see the influences they took in Cardcaptor Sakura for example.
Good shit.

>>9156257
Or Ludwig Revolution?
>>9156257
Yes, it was one of my favorites. I was so disappointed when it was officially distributed in English and the Count Cain scanlations were taken down. I really liked the alliteration of Count Cain and was disappointed by Earl Cain. Oh well.
I really enjoyed Kaori Yuki's works once upon a time. I should revisit them one day.
Bad Girl from No More Heroes probably doesn't count but I don't really care.
There was a Ganguro somewhere in Serial Experiments Lain too but I doubt anyone remembers that.
>>9154785
Thank you for this, I love mori and this manga's art style is great!
>>9155841
Sad how it never ended.... and on such a huge cliffhanger
>>9157718
The end is that Kurt Cobain dies. Ta daaaa
There was a gyaru in Re-Kan
>>9156240
What happened to this collab?
X-Day had one lolita character
Did anyone read Othello? It was about a girl who was bullied for dressing in the Visual Kei style, ends up having a severe split personality disorder in which one side of her is timid and the other side takes on the bullies.
Kinda surprised no one posted for ganguro
>>9155177
The only two I know off the top of my head are Stocking in PSG (although with stylized short skirt) and Celes in DR (accurate oldschool in her case)
Some of the ones posted here have been pretty accurate though, I'm glad to find out there's more.
>>9155177
manga anju maaka was pretty on point with lolita, in the anime it was stylised as a bit ita though
Are we including h-manga too?
>>9162901
I almost forgot about this abomination fuck you anon
I guess Yuuki and the dress BTSSB made for the second season would count.
>>9156257
Yes. My main gothic inspiration. Kaori Yuki is the best
>no Spooky Boogie
Sure her hikki ass wasn't shown offline for more than a few minutes, but her death was pretty great.
It's technically a maid dress. But I thought it was a gothic lolita dress at first.
