Friendly reminder that the North American release of this comes out next Friday on the 19th. It has Lolita and a lot of J-fashion in it. Anyone getting it?
>>
Fuck yeah I'm getting that shit. Those games are amazing
>>
>>9132655
I fucking love the Style Savvy games.
>>
I actually play this (the EU version) on a modded 3DS. Some really cute outfit in it. Shame they turned some characters black to be "progressive".
>>
>>9132663
There were black characters in the first Style Savvy/Boutique as well tho.
>>
>>9132664
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3O4WqI-4GQ
>>
>>9132666
Oh damn, I'd never seen this before.
>>
>>9132663
>putting people that exist in the real world in a game in order to better reflect the audiences who are going to be playing it is being progressive
>saying this like its a bad thing

uh alrighty anon.
>>
>>9132676
Of course its bad, I'm a weeaboo who only wants Japanese people in Japanese games of course /s
>>
>>9132666
What the hell is with removing guys stuff? I just want cute guys in yukata.
>>
Man, I love Nintendo but what's with NoA and NoE censoring the most random shit? I know that in EU's localization team there's at least one SJW working to get all the 'bigotry and racism' out though.
>>
Wait so can we still at least date some boys desu?
>>
>>9132663
>progressive
More like they're trying to appeal to an international demographic. Like on Pokemon when they replaced Brock with the more Anglo looking Tracey because they were afraid Brock's perpetual squinting would come off as an ethnic stereotype.
>>
>>9132785
I have Style Boutique: Fashion Forward and nope you can't date guys or dress them up. But you can still see them around buying makeup for their sisters/girlfriend.
>>
>>9132676
Destroying the integrity of an original work to pander to a specific group, taste or worldview is always bad, no matter which way it goes or which side of the fence you sit on.
>>
>>9132810
Whatever you say, anon. I'm only mad about the limits put on male characters. The race bending is pretty much harmless.
>>
>>9132810
> the integrity

it's a damn fashion game, anon.
>>
>>9132827
>>9132833
>The race bending is pretty much harmless.
>it's a damn fashion game, anon.
Fallacy, the post.
>>
>>9132851
racist, the anon
>>
>>9132796
You do get that's what every crossdresser says, right? ;)
>>
>>9132851
Cool your jets, anon. It's literally just a game. Get a stress ball and let out all that frustration.
>>
>>9132702
Yeah I really agree. Removing not the men's yukata selection pisses me off a lot more than adding some black characters
>>
>>9132909
>>9133247
>let's make an official western release of this legendary dress
>but let's replace all the lace trims with neon lime green respective strips
>surely this will make it more attractive and appealing to the western customers, they live being flashy in the West after all
>>
>>9132663
There were black characters in the last game anon. if it bothers you so much move to a majorly white country, make some /pol/ friends, and ask for advice on which TV shows/ games don't have any minorities because this triggers you
>>
>>9133385
Still failed to respond without using fallacies or the /pol/ bogeyman.
>>
this thread sucks
>>
>>9133468
then hole yourself up without any friends then and don't use the internet since you might see one of them darkies
>>
>>9133532
I'm making my point against any arbitrary change to the source material and spelled out that it's wrong whichever way or goes. Is be saying the same if they added KKK outfits to the game. It was you somehow made it about race. So tell me who's the racist here, little triggered blm-chan?
>>
>>9133478
Was hoping for actual discussion of the game, since I'm wondering if should play the previous ones.

I was pretty addicted to the 2nd game for a while, even after I finished the story. It was the demo on Nintendo e-shop that convinced me to get it in the first place. Give it a try if it's still there. You can own your own Angelic Pretty!
>>
>>9132666
I think the male clothing and character gender changes are kind of dumb, but honestly.. Japan is super well known for being overtly racist. You think America or EU is bad, go to Japan. I can completely understand why they would change some of the characters to be more inclusive.
>>
>>9133272
You are seriously comparing someone's race to changing the color of fabric? Fuck off.
>>
>>9133606
Nintendo agreed to it and they changed it. Problem? Clearly there isn't because they released it all the same since the company was on board with it. Any smart company would comply with a change as simple as that in their coding in order to gain more purchases overseas.
>>
honestly I'm afraid this could be the tip of an iceberg's worth of changes. I don't mind the idea of adding in more character model diversity, but what I do fear is if that counts as the most sublet change they plan to implement.
>>
>>9133761
>accuses the whole country and its people of being racist
>doesn't realise how racist it is to do so
The irony never tasted more ironic.

>>9133767
Go and educate yourself about Nintendo's "localization" division's track record in butchering games for the sake of arbitrary western muh feels.

>>9133764
Literally what.
>>
>>9133272
Not the same. They're adding more options for character customization in the form of expanded skin color options. They're not replacing anything. I wouldn't give a shit if the NoA did shove their own tacky neon lime green clothes in the game, as long as no other outfits were removed or altered in order to include said tacky clothes.

I was excited about a Style Savvy thread, but then people took the bait. Let's delete this thread and try to learn from our mistakes.
>>
Look how cute~
>>
>>9133801
Japan is extremely xenophobic, and you're a shitposter that ruined a good thread, what else is new.

>inb4 slinging more bait
I can just imagine it
"weh weh weh so you don't agree with me means i'm a shitposter, huh?"

hell, me responding to you counts at shitposting even, and thats what you wanted right anon? for everyone in this thread to throw shit at eachother because you were sad about the game being changed.
>>
>>9132666
Its shit about the guys but I don't really...mind...the different races. I just want to dress up some damn men and date them.
I mean, I'm still going to buy the shit out of this game but I will forever be salty if I can't at the very least have my male store clerks and hot flowershop boys.
>>
>>9136105
I would have played it even if everyone in the game was 100% Japanese and it was set there fully - is it? - but its also a plus that my player character can look like me. I want to be kawaii in psuedo Japan as well after all.

I imported girl's mode because I love cute clothes and dressing up cute girls and guys. I bought style savvy(?) because I could have a girl that looked like me while wearing those cute clothes.

If race was the only thing changed, I could care less but what is with games having men removed? What if I want my pc forcing her bf to come try on clothes?
>>
>>9132655
Please tell me the longer lolita coats don't still flatten the skirts. That was my biggest issue with the previous game besides the example coordinates for "princess taste" sometimes lacking a blouse and the lack of diverse men's fashion. I suppose this happens because they use the same texture for other tastes, but still, is there anything that can be done?!
>>
>>9136169
unfortunately the long coats do still flatten the skirts

also you can still dress up the men in the game, you just dont carry mens fashion in your store anymore

I've only played the first Girl's Mode/Style Savvy. My favorite part was that they included lolita pieces but they were pretty cringey at times. Do the designs get any better in the later games? I'm on the fence if I want the new one.
>>
>>9132796
I'm sure there's a male dress up option in the first menu? You might have to go into options but I'm sure 100% 'male fashion' as its titles in the game is in there!
>>
>>9136249
Didn't see this post before I replied to the one above, but I'd like to confirm that this is 100% true

Are there any other games where you can make your own character and dress them up?
>>
>>9137226
You're going to need to be more specific than that. I could direct you to a thousand shitty flash games.

Seconding for quality Android, DS and PC games.
>>
>>9136259
Yeah honestly the 2nd one was way better than the first one. They added some cute gyaru clothing too, even a Liz Lisa set you could download

I recommend pic related if you like the idea of running your own clothes store and competing against your rivals for the spotlight
The characters might seem a little meh, but my favorite thing about this game is that you can combine words you hear from passersby to make new clothes and gain new colors for them from flowers that bloom near your store. There's even fashion shows where they judge certain things like themes and color combinations amongst other things (on a basic level of course, the game is far from being the peak of ds graphics).
I played it a lot when I was younger and managing my store and seeing what clothes word combinations gave kept me hooked. It's worth looking into imo.
>>
>>9136259
The 'lolita' designs are sooo much better in the new game, really cute stuff that (some) is really clearly directly inspired by ap! the gothic stuff is pretty meh though
>>
>>9137226
Where is that image from?
>>
There is an event for this in Nintendo wold store this Friday where you can dress up in cos or outfit . Should I go? Anyone else going?
>>
>>9146070
You should definitely go! I'd go if I didn't live so far away. You should go all out and dress up. Maybe you could post some pics if you do end up going.
>>
>>9132785
>NoA will never let us have the dream boyfriend DLC for Trendsetters

I really don't understand this other than just pure laziness. It's definitely not a controversy issue since they have no problem with releasing other games with dating sim elements like Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons and FE minus the whole petting mini game censorship.

>>9133614
Seconding that Style Savvy Trendsetters is amazing, to the point that I'm not sure if Fashion Forward is going to be better or not. The lack of men's wear in the demo and promos is concerning. I liked styling for guys too, it's a lot more fufilling than playing with Ken dolls ever did for me as a child.

>>9132796
>>9136586
>I'm sure there's a male dress up option in the first menu? You might have to go into options but I'm sure 100% 'male fashion' as its titles in the game is in there!
I really hope it's there for the NA release.

>>9145944
It kind of looks like something from IMVU, which is a game like Second Life but has paywalls to keep the crazies out. Not sure if that's it though.

>>9146070
Holy shit yes, do it!! Have fun anon!
>>
How long until you unlock more brands in the exhibit hall? I've been playing for a bit and have the hair salon, make up salon, etc but only the 4 default brands still!
>>
Is anyone else not bothered by a lack of men in the game? I always found myself getting bored by the mens outfits, I just wanted to try out different styles and looks with womens clothing.
>>
>>9153027
Yeah I like not having to have men's clothes in my store
>>
>>9153027
>>9153035
#SmashThePatriarchy
>>
>>9153020
That's odd, maybe you should focus more on selling stuff in your shop. I'm not sure if there's a certain amount but after awhile of selling stuff Laurie will come into your shop and ask you which brand store to bring to the exhibit hall. Good luck!
>>
>>9132655
>get this game
>literally the only one the store had
>no good skintones for medium skin
>you can either be really light, kinda orange, or really dark

but the AMIIBO stuff is so fun!

So pretty much when you connect your amiibo to it, it takes whatever mii is registered as the amiibo's owner, and brings them into the game as a cute anime girl wearing an outfit related to the amiibo.
Which led to even boys being cute anime girls. its great.

I'll post pics from my 3ds in a second.

>>
>>9153282
Hng I got literally the only one my store had, the employee there said I should pre-order if they release another haha.
>>
>>9153358
I talked to the (cute) gamestop employee about it and he said it was probably because they didn't want to take any risks on anything that wasn't a FPS. Stores understocking is probably a reason for the decrease in sales too.
>>
>>9153278
Same anon here, 5 hours in and I haven't unlocked any of the other brands. Should I restart? Is it a glitch? I have 8,00 dollars in my shop.
>>
>>9153516
Sorry, meant 8,000!
>>
>>9153358
>>9153370
I ended up finding my copy at Toys R Us which come to think of it probably should have been the first place I looked.
>>
>>9153516
Restarting would be kind of a bummer. Maybe you could try posting something about it on the Style Savvy facebook page? They're really responsive so they might have an answer.
>>
>>9153535
What is their official facebook page called?
>>
>>9153545
It's called Style Savvy: Trendsetters. I'm pretty sure it's a page run by fans but it's is very active and up to date.
>>
Can we dress men in this game? Last localized game didn't even allow boyfriends. Fuck you, Nintendo.
>>
>>9153516
>>9153020
do other quests, go out, talk to people.
every time I was about to give up just going out and completing story seemed to get the trick done. and if going to different locations/talking to people with special music/sparkles next to them doesn't help always sell more stuff.
>>
Played trendsetters and pirated fashion forward last year, bought legit copy last week because I do think it's such a big improvement in content that it deserves my money. Also convinced a few friends to try it out who've never tried it before and now they are hooked. The translation seems to be just the eu British one, heads up.
>>
I love this game but one bad point is how hard it is to collect all the colors for makeup/hair.
>>
>>9153824
Agreed, the color collecting is complete and utter BS.

Anyone have tips for it?
>>
>>9154063
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1143149&page=3
A list of the locations of all colours is near the bottom of this page. I found it via a simple google search a while ago so maybe try that next time instead waiting for someone to spoon-feed it to you anon
>>
>>9153708
I played last night and I would like to add, I unlocked 3 brands in a row purely by buying a ton of stuff from the exibition hall. so I'm sure that anon's problem was hoarding the money and not using it
>>
I guess I'm just a complete mess of a boutique manager, because the girls who request outfits frequently bitch about my brand mixing. Is there some kind compatibility chart or something? Or do I literally just have use the same brand all the time while making outfits? The second one would be pretty boring.
>>
>>9154645
sort by image, not by brand
>>
>>9154650
That makes sense. Thanks!
>>
>>9154602
Do you remember approximately how much? Finally unlocked a brand today
>>
>>9153702
yes but you have to get the credits to appear first
>>
>>9154668
not exactly. but approximately at ever $1,000 I spent i unlocked new ones.
>>
>>9132810
>the integrity
I doubt a skin color change is going to destroy the "integrity" of a fucking fashion game you nut
>>
FYI if you have Callie or Evie in your shop where you have to give them outfit and they keep coming back. You have to hit "Try it On" instead of "take a look". I'm an idiot and couldn't figure it out.
>>
>>9154956
one of the piraters here: yes, basically any special event character that wants an outfit needs to end with "try it on", in fact if you want anyone to keep a permanent outfit you made for them you pretty much have to use "try it on".

On the flip side, if someone is asking you for an outfit or item of clothing you DON'T want to see them wear, simply pick "take a look". They still buy it but they will not wear it out of the store and you've preserved your nice looking outfit.
>>
Anyone feel like the plot was even easier than the last game? I got to the credits within 3 days of playing. Then again no one really plays this game for the storyline.
>>
>>9133614
I actually found out about the new one from the 2nd game demo back in May. Honestly I would have bought both of them if the 2nd one wasn't priced the same as the 3rd. I've noticed some features that don't appear to be in the new one though. Like, I can't change my rooms appearance which I enjoyed. Then again I only got the game yesterday and I haven't unlocked everything yet.
I still would buy the previous editions but I'll probably wait for their prices to drop first.
>>
>>9153020
>>9153516
That's odd, I've been playing for a day (I just started day 2 now) and I've unlocked two stores already. I have the hair salon, make up studio, upgraded chalet, cafe, night club, miniature store and I think I can travel to other cities (idk I haven't done it yet, might be real ppl stores). Try talking to the night club owner to get Laurie to stop by your shop for the first one. I've bought over 12000 in clothes to the point I had one item from every store... I did get extra freebies after the show too. I speak to a shit ton of people too, I prioritize the "???" people in my stores so I don't have to search for them too.

>>9154602
Hm, maybe thats it? I thought I was able to unlock the first one because the night club owner wanted a specific fashion. The second one appeared after the show.... now that I think about it I did have to restock my shop for the theme from the show because EVERYONE wanted an outfit with that theme.
You're probably right though, the first time around it was hard the get sales when everyone wants basic u socks.

>>9154956
>>9155058
Thanks, Evie has been standing in my store for a while now because I asked her to take a look at 4 outfits. Did it matter what type of fashion it was? My bio on her said she likes mature fashion and I don't have that store unlocked yet (unless I want her to look like Xiaoling or Callie).
>>
>>9156542
If she bought your "Take a look" outfits then she will have bought them if you said "try it on" :)
>>
>>9156790
She hadn't bought them, she kept complaining that it wasn't her style. I figured out that I did need to unlock the store that she specifically liked (she just sat in my shop until I did). Once I did that I just bounced between her and Callie "take a look" to get easy money. Once I was sick of it I made them try it on for real.
>>
>>9156857
technically you don't need the shop to match style, a lot of clothes have over lap. if she likes "mature" style, then you should just sort all your items by "feminine". you'd probably have enough to make an outfit from marzipan sky and basic u for example, if you wanted to anyway. there's really no rush to do anything.
>>
File: maxresdefault.jpg (175KB, 1679x945px) Image search: [Google]
maxresdefault.jpg
175KB, 1679x945px
For those terribly confused by people asking for certain things and not have them match by name exactly to themes:

> fun / cute = lively
> cool = bold
> mature / refined = feminine
> ethnic / free spirited = boho-chic
>plain / simple = basic in most cases
>edgy can refer to either bold or rock. pay close attention to their personal style
>sometimes people ask for gothic and they really want black goth loli, not western goth style. again, pay attention to their personal style.
>>
>>9156877
Cute can also be used for girly.
>>
>>9156877
>>9157068

Price range will also be a big give away. Sometimes it's hard to tell if someone is asking for bold or rock, but bold is always cheaper than rock. So if their budget is low, they mean bold.

Likewise, lively things are dirt cheap. Sometimes girly/lolita seem similar but lolita is way more expensive. Likewise with chic/feminine/girly, chic being much more expensive, feminine more than girly. There are some exceptions such as a person who's normally one style trying out another (a girly person asking to try rock won't have as high of a budget) or when they say they're on a budget specifically too.
>>
I keep having trouble with the haircutting game. occassionally I'll get a customer that tells me jack all and when I cut their hair they'll be like
"I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU I WANTED SHORT HAIR"
>cut their hair short
"I COULD HAVE SWORN I TOLD YOU I WANTED IT RED, THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM"
>dye it red
"I WANTED PURPLE HIGHLIGHTS, IM WALKING OUT"

and what the hell do they mean when they say "I want romantic hair"
>>
>>9157273
Romantic usually = long and wavy or curly
I agree though, trying to get info out of them is like pulling teeth.
>>
>>9157273
Romantic hair is hair styled with soft curls/ suitable for girly/feminine style. I usually give the customer who asks for romantic hair, ribbon curls or the bob that's curled at the ends. It's a bit trial and error at first. There is also the hint button if you want a definition of the style they are after.
>>
>>9157273
I never really figured this out despite playing for months. At some point, people will ask to see you at the salon specifically after you do their make up or clothes first, and they are much more helpful then so I literally ONLY help people at the salon when they have the asterick (meaning they asked to see me there) now.
>>
>>9141566
I second this! Its a very cute game!
>>
>>9157296
>>9157311
I was getting stuck on romantic and formal styles. Turns out that I had to make the fringe formal by making it side swept or plaited. I never noticed a hint button, I'll look for it the next time.

For anyone stuck on unlocking all the colors I found a guide. I suspected I would have to do some in different season but I was hoping to unlock specific things early like Sophie's lip color. https://www.gamefaqs.com/3ds/764719-nintendo-presents-new-style-boutique-2-fashion-forward/faqs/73004
fyi taking a picture of a face at the beautician and taking it to the color whiz doesn't unlock color...I was hoping.
>>
So...How do I buy items not in stock anymore?
I made the mistake of only buying one of each item, but when I went back to buy more stock, the items were gone from the stores.
Is there anywhere I can restock previously bought items in the boutique?

not as far as I know. the stock changes each day so you have to be keen to buying items you want to keep in stock.
>>
>>9158281
Thanks, your guide is much better than the outdated one I was using. I unlocked almost all of them. I just need the seasonal ones and the tricky ones like tiramisu. Science Lion is being tricky for me. Took the exact photo and the girl doesn't want to see the color. If you have it already, did you have any problems with it?
>>
>>9158271
as long as you're in the same season, the same items will reappear in a couple of days. Maybe a week or so at most. Just make sure to check every day.
>>
>>9153027
Not really, considering that they instead brought more girl's brands. I didn't like that I was so hyped for 4 floors in Trendsetters, only to find out that the top floor was just for guy's clothing. I do wish that they had the dreamy boyfriend mode though.

>>9157273
I noticed that I got this depending on how many hints you get through the questions. I think you get about 3 tries to ask, and if the client only tells you 1 thing from those 3 questions, then there's going to be missing info. However, if you ask the 3 right questions, then you'll see about 3-4 hints that make it much more specific to what they've asked for.

>>9158281
On the other hand, finding the colors has been a tough time for me. Thank you anon for linking to this guide!
>>
Do shops get unlocked over time or over what your shop earns? I have Sasha in my shop (one of the photographers) who is supposed to be modeling for a show. She wants "boho-chic" items, and I only have ONE DAMN SHIRT. you can't mix and match styles because she complains and the story doesn't move forward until you get her dressed..
>>
>>9159010

I fucked up and chose a different brand than boho and a model for one of the fashion shows refuses to wear anything BUT boho - despite saying "put me in whatever for your show!". What do I do?

I've spent even more money at the shops so Laurie will come and offer me another brand but no luck. Are there any things sold in other brands that are in the boho category or do I have to just keep pouring money into the other brands and hope I get a new brand?
>>
>>9165128
as mentioned earlier, there's a lot of overlap in brands. sort your inventory by image instead of brand
>>
>>9165153
I do and did. I mean that I literally only have 5 things, overlap included. Does anyone have a guide of the overlapping - my googlefu may be failing me but I can't find anything of the sort.
>>
>>9165184
Dang. Well FWIW if you are just trying to make the bare minimum outfit if you have kanokoi (The asian brand) they do a boho yukata and a zigzag pair of flats that's also boho, the two will complete a bare bones boho outfit.

Although it really doesn't take too long to unlock brands. I think i unlocked boho last because it's my absolute least favorite.
>>
>>9165202
I'll see if I can get it, thank you anon! I don't even care how good she looks at this point, I just want her to finally leave.

I'll pour more money in in the mean time and hope for another brand. I always leave boho to the last too since most of the stuff looks lame but I didn't think it'd come back and bite me in the butt...
>>

Do you spend a lot of money at the Exhibition Hall? I've unlocked several brands in a few hours of playing by literally burning money at the Exhibition Hall, and burning through said stock at my boutique. As someone who's been a fan of all three games I can tell you what I miss about each

Style savvy
>fashion no-nos

Style savvy trendsetters
>being able to buy new colors whenever

>being able to take pictures of whoever you wanted to copy that exact look
>cameos from the old game

I wish you could buy room for more stock, I have like nine caprice chalet rooms, surely one could be for storage.

I remember playing on my birthday 6 years ago and he gave me the wedding set. I was so happy

I just got the blue penlight for a makeup set. Why the hell do all my customers keep saying it's got orchids in it? It's really clearly based on moon and stars. I'm perplexed.
>>
>>9191256
...because it's midnight orchid themed
>>
>>9191289
There isn't any orchid or flower on the set itself though- so I don't see what would give that reaction. It's called 'orchid purple' when it's clearly based off the night sky. If it had included flowers or something in the design of the set, it'd make a lot more sense.
>>
>>9191312
Not to mention i re-made the pallet away from purple and changed the name of it, so it's a bit frustrating.

I get really passionate about this game because it's a really well made and polished game. There's tons of content, more than comprehend-able at first. The amount of clothing, the amount of NPCs, the fact that every npc has a little unique profile and set of characteristics. The sheer amount of content and writing (and later translation) kind of boggles my mind. It's in my eyes, a game aimed as girls done right and deserves $30 if not more.

What's your favourite aspect of this game, gulls? I was really hyped for the design and home design elements, but actually, those kind of suck- the textures/options are ass and the rooms are way too small to do anything elaborate with. But I was surprisingly hooked on putting outfits together and designing the perfect hair and makeup for them. Kinda wish you could make NPCs so you could play at dressing your friends up.

>>
>>9200454
I'm happy you can do other peoples hair and makeup
and you can go on frequent dates with multiple people..
the design portion was improved greatly, but overall I prefer style savvy trendsetters for more of a challenge, and better options

I don't know why the hell they took out the option where you could take photos of people and copy their exact outfit
Or the option where if you fulfilled enough customers requests you'd be given an item you dont already own by the end of every day

The fact that it makes you hunt for color palettes is the only thing remotely difficult about this game, but i still enjoy it
