What does /cgl/ think when obese people cosplay? I find it incredibly disgusting, but it's mitigated when they play a character accurate to their body, like Ursula.

Fat cosplay thread?

It's usually pretty bad.

My thought is as long as their cosplays are made properly for their body and they choose appropriate characters, than I have no issue with it.
The ivy in this pic did a nice job with that and harleys suit isnt too tight. These two are overweight but far from the obese monstrosities that lurk at every con.

A woman is considered obese when she is above 32% body fat. Both of those women look like they're about 40% body fat or more. Just because they're not homebound doesn't mean they're not obese.
>>
>>9118421
I agree. Their bodies fit well into those cosplays and it's obvious the Harley is wearing a shaper to keep her body smooth. This is what I prefer to see is people who know how to use their shape in cosplay. Not wear a body suit without shape wear and say I'll wear this cosplay and call fat shaming when I get posted to bad cosplay threads". Doesn't matter if your skinny or day, shape wear should always be worn with bodysuits.
>>
Agreeing with others here. As long as you are aware of your body type it's fine. Too often it's attempted countered with fake tits though. Like that Harley in the last Cringe thread. She's made no effort to actually make things within her range. Just mega tits with corsets.

The same way of what I think about non-asian anime cosplayers.

If people took that chart seriously most of the world's population would be classified as obese.

That's Penny Underbust and that's very literally her thing, being a fetish model and all. Not trying to whiteknight, but she knows what she's doing and I doubt she cares much about the cosplay aspect.

>>9118461
Why do you think obesity rates are up globally? People seem to think you have to be landwhale size to count as obese, but that's not the case at all.

Anyway, to actually be on /cgl/topic, pretty much what everyone says. If they're a bit self-aware in character choice and materials, I'm fine with it.
>>
>>9118461
Doctors and non-fatties do take that chart seriously, anon. And yes, the world is getting fatter.

I think everyone who wants to should cosplay. Fat, skinny, young, old. But be realistic about your body shape and use shape wear as needed. Fat cosplayers usually get some extra looks and reactions (sometimes negative comments or laughter) but so do old cosplayers, cross players and people cosplaying more obscure characters. They have learn to to expect it.

She's whatever the female version of a dick is. She's fame-hungry yet has no skills or talent. The worst kind of person on Patreon who think people should just pay to see them do nothing and finance their stupid shit like these custom corsets. She looks and acts like a real pig.
I also think she does cam porn, but I've thankfully not actually come across it yet.
>>
>>9118501
>it's a hamplanet cosplays as Rarity episode
Every fucking time. The character is a magnet for delusional landwhales.

This got an honorable mention at metrocon on sunday.
>>
>>9118584
At least this took some effort where >>9118501 just slapped on a corset and wig and called it cosplay.
>>
>>9118594
Because she's not a cosplayer. She's just trying to rake in some neckbeard cash to bounce her tits. She has no job or career. Fame-whoring on Patreon and YouTube (and now I guess visiting some cons) is all she actually does.

I think being fat is really gross, but I also think taking dressing up like fictional characters so seriously that you care if fat people do it is really retarded.
>>
>>9118640
It usually only becomes a thing if the HAES Tumblerites clash with the 'put down the fork fatty' crowd online with photos posted and call-outs or when there's a competition where weight might actually be a factor in accuracy due to the costume being distorted.

The rest of us really don't care either way. I've been guilty of doing a double-take or catching myself staring but I think that is to be expected.
>>
I'm thoroughly disgusted by very fat people. But I don't give a shit if they cosplay, as long as they don't whine when they don't get the same attention as other cosplayers.
>>
>>9118415
Let people do what they want. If it makes them happy, why the fuck should it effect you?
>>
>>9118584
I think the Rarity thing is so hilarious because so many neckbeard p0ny fags adore Rarity and they nerdrage so hard when fatties play her. It's a pretty amusing situation.
>>
>>9118659
But they often do, anon. That's part of the reason people roll their eyes over it. A lot of them get super-mad if they are overlooked and so do fat lolitas who manage to stuff themselves into a brand dress but I'm not sure what they expect really? If they have been drinking the fat-positivity Tumblr Kool-Aid it's especially cringe-worthy to be around them.
>>
>>9118584
Honestly I think the wig kills it. If she had a better one, I think this probably would have looked decent.

I guess I'm fine with them if the character they are cosplaying is a fat character. Otherwise it's pretty unpleasant to look at.

>>9118640
Eh it's not so much taking cosplaying seriously but rather the fact that so much cosplay that is done regularly is pretty revealing. I don't care if it's cosplay or not, I don't want to see any overweight person in revealing clothes.

It's not just revealing cosplay either but also just super cutesy cosplay or clothes (like fairy kei). I think it's pretty natural to find small things cute right? It's why we find so many animals and baby animals cute and it's something alluring about women for men I think. And overweight women are just not cute to me, even if they have cute faces; the body ruins it. It just comes off as cringey.
>>
>>9118415
When fat people do it, I don't care, as long as it's well done and they don't whine
When obese people do it, like >>9118584 , it kinda baffles me, because at that point, you should just put all your money and effort on loosing weight to avoid dying like 30 years prematurely
>>
>>9118460
that picture isnt really flattering.
>>
>>9121287 This.
It's amusing that fatties have the time and money to go to cons and cosplay but don't have the time and money to invest in finding a weight loss method that works for them. Usual excuse being "muh diabetes is beautiful."
>>
>>9118460
Holy shit im in love, who is she?
Also i have the same gudetama light!
>>
I never cosplayed due to my weight. I have a few things I would consider if I lost weight, but I feel like it's a waste of time/money to make something for myself that's not going to look great due to my body type. I understand being comfortable in your skin and all but you'll always just look like the "fat version" of a character unless you pick one that is already big.
>>
I dont care regardless, as long as theyre not actively bothering anyone. Like, how empty does your own life have to be in order to have the time and energy to legitimately get upset over something like this?
>>
>>9118415
i think it's fine. do you have the same reaction when an asian guy cosplays a white comic character? I don't have a lot of 'canon' options from Marvel/DC...

I think the problem a lot of people have is that they expect the sort of fawning praise that you always see on deviantart/tumblr etc and outside of that 'safe space' they aren't used to criticism (and to be fair, a lot of said criticism can be pretty mean-spirited). i will ask for a picture of pretty much anything that is well-made, personally.

that said, that sort of hugbox attitude isn't exclusive to fat cosplayers, but you do see it fairly often.

>>9118584
dammit Lina what the fuck did you think would happen if you kept eating ten-thousand calorie meals?
>>
>>9123050
>do you have the same reaction when an asian guy cosplays a white comic character?

The words to put this properly are too many for 4chan so tldr,

Being asian isnt the same as being a fucking disgusting health risk to yourself.
