It's not too bad if you get in early. Amecon pretty different to things like MCM and other expo events.

While MCM is more a glorified dealers room Amecon has a greater range of entertainment and evening events. It's alot smaller but the con is 18+.

Depends on what you're looking for in a con really. Guess try it once and see if you think you get your moneys worth.

To be fair, running MAD in the smallest room in the convention was stupid as fuck. Especially when that train wreck blind dating sim had the theater. Blind date was awful cringe until the abfab girls saved it. I mean an attempt was made but that kind of panel is totally dependent on your audience being good ad-lib while in character. If he lost all his panel stuff like he said he should have pulled the panel rather than parade a corpse. I mean i suppose it wasn't the worst panel I've seen concerning the circumstances but pretty cringe still.

Now its over, was it any good? I couldn't get a ticket. I went to one of the Ayacon at Warwick and that was good. Did they do well at the new venue? I didnt like keele as a venue with all the walking and I didn't go to Chibi. (If only Pokemon go was out then!). Just worried that it seems all cons are going to end up at Warwick and blend into the sameness.

Yeah I actually liked Hilton because I liked being in a nice hotel at the end of the night and to get ready in. Having the hotel facilities was really good too. Also much easier to then go eat at the NEC where I'm worried Warwick will have nothing from what I've heard.

I was actually impressed by how spoilt for choice I was when it came to eating places here. Bar Fusion, Le Gusto and the Dirty Duck all have excellent food, the Varsity Bar that's a bit further out is also fantastic, and they're all very reasonably priced. Far preferable to the NEC, I think.

I'm assuming that the spring con will take place in a hotel when they find somewhere to replace the Hilton (or maybe Amecon was trying to secure it for chibi and couldn't get the price/deal they wanted so when Kita's in the spring it will still be there). I'm glad Kita will be moving though maybe they'll finally add much needed spaces. The main hall was no where near full for any of the main events this time so they could still add 500 or so places comfortably.

I summoned the testicles to go to an Owari no Seraph meetup at the last MCM on both days and it was an utter cringefest. On top of that nobody wanted to talk, everyone had their own friends they brought along and wanted to stick to their little groups. On both days I ended up making small talk with crossdressing fat guys before they walked off with their friends.

While the con badges at Amecon were a massive improvement from the Kitacon rape clown it was a fairly unorignal Xenoblade copy paste of Riki and Melia.

I used to go to cons with 2 friends, they stopped going to them anymore so i just went to mcm by myself in 2012. never been happier that i did. Met people online in fb cos groups, ended up spending entire weekend with them as attended same meets everyday. its 100% possibly to start out going alone, but get the pre work in chatting online, just dont be a creeper.

I tried attending a few random meets and 80% of people can be cringy tbf. will always recommend getting to know online first if you shy af like me.

I really liked the tote bag this year, the design is pretty cute. Amecon's art looks so much better than Kitacon's. I agree with the art contest thing, they could easily set one up for everyone to enter a badge design and offer a decent prize.

A competition really? Surely the event pays for it's art, I doubt any artists will do it for free. I have artist friends and they won't do you a sketch unless you pay £20, so I imagine the badges cost more than that.

With a competition you're just going to get chancers trying to win the cash prize. I don't want "my first convention badge" hanging round my neck. I think the art at amecon is top notch, they always get great artists.

A better idea would be if mr art critic would get off his lazy ass and suggest alternative artists.

The con was saved by the steps and socials. Negs was there was hardly anything to do. Crammed popular events at same time or early in the day. So many industry events were empty and dull. Biggest lol was the Amecon feedback event had like 20 people max.

In b4 committee lurkers saying nobody volunteered. You run the event know whats been volunteered in advance. Call in favors to add more stuff!! Cosplay desk was good.
