What the hell happened to the last thread? Also discuss Metrocon because it's in two days.

And then AFO a week later. Rip wallets.
>>
>>9107938

Apparently it was deleted due to too much vendetta going on in that thread.
>>
>>9107964
I wondered why I couldn't post there. I'm gonna be at Metro all four days. Bringing Shirou and hopefully Yang if she arrives on time.

Other than that, checking out the new shows and playing Pathfinder there.
>>
Can you vendetta against shitty mascot art?
>>
Did someone answer before that shit got nuked, did omni seam check their ppl this year?
>>
>>9108429

They did this year!
>>
>>9108445
Ah so the chick now running it is bringin it over from her Mega days then. I'll have to actually check it out then next year.
>>
So we have one judge who is making a questionable costume choice.
Who are the others for Metro?
>>
Badge pick up today and apparently a pool party?
>>
>>9108511
>the infamous pool party
When did wearing a watermelon while getting your dick sucked become the thing to do?
>>
>>9108459
Part of me hopes PikabellaChu because it's the topping to the Metro poor choice train this year
>>
>>9108595
It prolly is. She's running the Pokemon GO event at Metrocon.

>>9108359
No, it's not. Athel Artistry's girlfriend/lover did that atrocity. She needs to know how cancerous they are and to never fucking do that again.
>>
Random question, did anyone go to that Love Live pajama party at supercon? It was on Saturday night I believe. How was it?
>>
Lol at people asking for printable versions of these.

Nice hard plastic, holo gears and hard to copy background details on the back.

Unfortunately shitty ass art. Why.
>>
>>9109059
When I was picking up my badge, I saw the other mascots that aren't these guys but are still mascots taking photos. It was awful. Unfortunately my phone was dying so I couldn't grab pics.
>>
>>9108888
it was canceled
>>
Anyone having hotel issues?
>>
>>9109063
Any reason why?
>>

Fucking degenerate scum.

>>
>>9109252
Was* planning hurr
>>
>>9109252
if its set up like TBCC basically they route traffic up to the second floor towards the elevators and have you go directly to the registration area ( or past if you have your pass) they have people manning the different doorways and checking off badges and bands.

>rip hall con
>>
>>9109265
Well, hopefully a printable version of that pass turns up soon
>>
>>9109290
or wrist bands
>>
Really wish they would of warned us before beefing up the security this year.

There's your problem senpai

They never showed up
>>
>>9109380

I just want to get wasted with my friends from out west like our annual ritual, act like pirates, crash the pool party we're often invited to, and play the fuck out of some pokemon go.

Anyone got a photo of the Stop layout? they say they'll keep the mods runnin 24/7. Doesn't mean shit if I can't stock on BALLS.

Also, anyone know how the grocery store run goes? How much would an Uber be from tcc if it's pouring too much to walk? Are there vending machines, or do people sell energy drinks for us fiends?

>>
If you want to get in with fakes you have to be with a huge group of people near morning/afternoon hours. The security will let you pass but the volunteers will fuck you up if the gears arent holo/3m/reflective.

The late night shifts past 10pm its gonna be hard getting in with fakes even with big groups because they make sure the gears are holo.

your best bet is to fake the wristbands since we rarely bother inspecting those unless its an obvious fake (fonts off, wrong color etc)

Dealers room seems the same as usual this year, garbage prices or "custom" "creations" but there's a booth selling a ton of Love Live shit if anyone here hasn't seen it. Picked up a Final Live blade yesterday, wanted a poster too but the good shit is just sold out. Got a few μ's CDs for $12 each too. Big booth straight from the entrance playing love live music, pretty hard to miss. Bunch of art books there too, nothing LL I didn't already have but grabbed some Utena and Inio Asano books. Aside from a few keychains this is the only place I've spent money...

Also, the booth that's on the next island down from it has a bunch of Love Live cosplayers working it, and their costumes are pretty great.

I'll be wearing a nozomi cape tomorrow, if you see me around (tall Asian guy, that should be rare enough) give me a shout.

As long as someone doesn't go full retard and make an event page with +2k attendees and freak the hotel staff out your fine.

Oh and DON'T GIVE ALCOHOL TO MINORS. Seriously the people that did that last year and that are crying foul at the cops and hotel for cracking down on that need to be hit in the face with a shovel and have some sense knocked into them.

>>9112789
Ive been to alot of shows in Orlando and south Florida, and as far as small-midsize shows go AFO seems to have the most consistent quality as far as panels, shows and events are concerned. If you just want to hang they only badge check at the entrance to the dealers hall and panel rooms/workshops. Your pretty much free to cruise the halls, look at AA/Cosplayers without having to buy a badge.
>>
>>9112851
first we just tried to run away and one of the volunteers put her hands on me so i was like fuck u im leaving and then another guy kept threatening us with trespassing and calling the cops but we convinced him we bought the passes from a vagrant and he believed us. ill be upping my scamming game for next year just out of spite
>>
Make friends. Convince them you left your badge away at a far off hotel. They walk in, one person comes back out with all the badges, you get in and give them back. Been doing it all weekend with all my friends
>>
There is nothing going on, I've already seen all the shows sans Costume Contest. The panels don't really sound interesting.

I'm gonna volunteer next year and run some panels, no way I'm paying for this again. And I'm not going to complain about nothing of interest going on when I don't even try myself

>>9113210
The law works both ways. Unless they were officials or security they legally can't put their hands on you or make you stay and wait for the cops

Fucking hell i forgot how much this board hates cosplay and conventions. I assume that the lolita half hates their shit as well.

I had fun, security didnt give me any shit, hung out with some of them at tabletop gaming.

>>9111149
picked this up in artist alley and got the voice actors to sign it later that day.
>>
>>9113615

I never got hassle from security either, only one majorly minor one was I was just stopped because my badge was a bit scratched so they took a bit of a closer look, that's it.

and personally i picked up a lot of artist art prints, OC, drawing, or watercolor whatever, least they're trying in my opinion best of luck I say.
>>
I had a great con. Borrowed badges to get in and out so paid for nothing, drank for free at the Embassy even though I had no key card, found a few cheap but cool items in the dealer's room, cosplays were comfy and well received. Had a great weekend without breaking the bank.
>>
>>9113567
Careful not to hurt yourself with all that edge
>>
>>9113573
I feel so bad for AA this year. They got seriously screwed by metros new arrangement. I know in past years I've enjoyed buying things from them even when I didn't pay to get into the actual con events
>>
Anyone know who won the cosplay contest? Any pics?
>>
>>9113876
the davy jones/calypso pair iirc

>>
>>9113882
They prolly made that for gasparilla and figured it'd work at metro too
>>
>>9113867
I saw some artsts complaining about it on Friday, but some of them were optimistic for Saturday because that's the day most of the 1-day guys get passes for. Did things improve significantly on Saturday?
>>
self posts?

what was your favorite cosplay? i was glad to see a calne ca.

>>
>>9113919
Oh wow, that Midna's hair in the background is insane. Looks really cool.
>>
>>9113972
Saw her in person, she was very good and well put together.

As far as other costumes, I saw a couple good Borderlands, Dragon Age and Tales of running around, but nothing that really sticks in my mind unfortunately. Shit tons of Pokemon/Undertale and other baby's first cosplay. I was busy most of the weekend helping my friends with panels and running a booth, so maybe I just wasnt looking hard enough, but I didn't see much that was impressive. I didnt go to the costume contest however.
>>
>>9113391
I hate Volunteers at Metrocon. They act so damn high and mighty. They barred me from a panel one day because they claimed no one could get in when they were only half full. A lot of them are also cringeworthy fucks who generally creep others out.

Oddest thing I saw all weekend was this poor dog. There were many service dogs at the con and a greyhound rescue society had a booth in the vendor room, but every dog that I saw looked happy, hydrated and not at all stressed. This dog was very well behaved, but I couldnt help but think that he looked a little pathetic and was probably not very comfortable. I saw him twice on Saturday, so I think he was unfortunately in the costume for several hours, which is just plain shitty. Shame on the owner for putting a trained service dog through this.

Literally went to go replace my boyfriends badge after being told to by check point peeps. He wasnt feeling too well, so I went and took the badge for him. I was wearing my pass and had his in my hand.
They gave me shit for it, (both badges had our cosplay name so I eventually won) but I'm so glad I wasn't persecuted for something so stupid. Poor kid.

Literally half the thread in here is talking about making fakes. Yeah, I paid too and this board made everyone else(Including me and my gf) have to deal with hassles because cheep-ass edgy morons wanted to go, but didn't want to spend money. Liars all of em. If they really thought it was such shit, they wouldn't have wasted their TIME on it either.
So, thanks hypocrites for making life harder for the rest of us poor weebs. Yeah, I'm bitter. Fuck off.
>>
>>9114100
I've always paid for Metro, but there have been cons where I've gotten fake passes for.

Megacon being one of them. I literally go to that con to party/drink and hang out with friends. The con itself is pretty ass and I'm glad I didn't waste money there. (like they didn't even have a fucking game room this year)

I enjoy what Metro(as it's my favorite con) has to offer in terms of being a con, so I'm always happy to pay for my badge.
>>
>>9114109
Sorry, I'm just pissed that the con is going to get tons of negative publicity because the dumbasses in here wanted to be chaotic-evil little fuck heads.
Don't like it: don't go. Don't fuck it up for the rest of us, dick heads.
>>
I think my biggest complaint about the price is that AX was just as expensive and had way more to offer. Cons like this deserve to have people fake passes for trying to charge so much for subpar events and guests.
>>
I just dont get it with these shows. They have had the same guests and events year after year with only minor gians in attendance yet the ticket price just keeps shooting up. Where the heck does all the money go? Its not like they ever bring anyone bigger than a couple of c or d listers.
>>
>>9114156
The price was the same as last year. I don't know why people keep saying that it went up. Fact check a little.
>>
>>9114156
>where does the money go
It lines the owners pockets and they laugh at everyone for attending their shitty con
>>
>>9114163
Not the same person, but the price jump wasn't justified last year either. Either way, it's ridiculously overpriced for a convention of its caliber.
>>
>>9114121
A lot of people go for social interaction amongst people with similar interests. Most people bumming passes are doing so because the rest isn't worth it to them but is still fun for meeting people and partying. Metro used to be one of those cons with free spaces where people could just hang out and enjoy the sites
>>
>>9114167
Yeah, here's the problem: when 5,000 extra people are milling around, things get crowded and the people who didn't pay
1 have no incentive to not be dicks because, hey, they didn't pay anything anyway.
2 can't be kicked out when they DO start causing problems, like stealing.
3 take up resources like air conditioning and seating that other people paid for.
If people wanna hang out for free, they can go hang in their friend's hotel room. Or host a meet up.
I hate to bring the Tumblr speak into this, but it's the definition of privilege to complain about having an unusually generous perk being withheld for once, when they never had to offer it in the first place.

tl;dr: this is why we can't have nice things! People are idiots when in large numbers.
>>
Ive been told I should hit up metro pretty much since I moved to Florida years ago. Never been though. Seems like it always falls between other shows, or the cost is high, or work gets in the way etc. Any more standouts as far as cosplay goes? Did anyone catch the Hotline Miami guys? I helped out with some of the costumes and props.

Metro cast performer person here.

>"Metro is gonna lose so much money and business by disallowing hallconning!"
>"Geez what a shit con lol Nick/Alex meme lol we're so cool!"
>"lol pool party! lol watermelon!"

We kinda all laugh at shit like this because we still come out on top. Sold badges were up to near-12k this year and hallconners weren't clogging the convention center and being dickbags.

It was especially funny to see fake badge people get caught because they were timid looking late teens / early 20s that seriously looked scared or ready to cry when security pulled them aside.

Then they come to threads like this one and keyboard warrior it up about how badass they are and how Metro isn't "worth their time".

We don't want your negativity.

We don't want your dishonesty and thievery.

>>
>>9114167
If a con sucks then don't go back. It's pretty simple. If you go and you buy a badge then you are supporting a suck event and they'll keep delivering the same suck because why should they change anything when you keep coming back and paying more and more every year?

I cruised the whole weekend on a fake badge and had no problems avoiding the very obvious assholes in skirts. Metro hasn't been worth buying a badge for years now but it's better than ever to cruise for parties and pussy.

>>
>>9114343
Four day passes count as four sales. Masquerade and Dance passes count as ticket sales too. Add them all together then add some more. If it's not big enough just round up till it sounds impressive. Post that number and make up a Facebook story to justify how the lack of people in many pics is just because they're all in watching the "awesome" shows and the con is really super busy but you just can't tell.
>>
>>9113454
Not sure of the exact dates, but I understand it's a week AFTER TBCC next year, so...they're kinda fucked.
>>
>>9114469
Like I get the badge thing, if yu don't have a badge you don't get in. Fine.

But putting it in August? They've screwed their con over. I've gone to metro for 10 years now, I won't be able to go next year and I know a lot of people who won't be able to as well. Let's hope they get it sorted out before then.
>>
I didn't go to meet for the the first time in years, thinking about going to tbcc since I have that day off. Worth it? I've never been to tbcc
>>
Metro's (many) faults aside... any pictures of cosplays? Who won the costume contest? Also, any photos from the FE meetup? It was kind of a clusterfuck, but that's how they usually go.
>>
>>9114619
They are kinda limited to what the TCC will give them and by what other major cons are going on around the country. They had to pit themselves against SDCC this year, and it can't have helped them.
>>
>>9114635
Oops, I meant TCC is killing the con with all of their rules. I mean Metro is kinda too, but my main issues (food and dates) can be chalked up to TCC
>>
>>9114620
*metro not meet sorry auto correct
>>

>>
>>9114100
So? It could be the same 5 people over and over and you wouldn't know- that's how 4chan works, it's all anonymous.

And it was metro staff that decided listening to a group of people that amounted to less than 1% of their attendance to hassel everyone. I'd rather let in a few fakers if it meant not putting up with shit all weekend

Vendor here, just throwing in my two cents: attendance was definitely up this year by a decent amount. 12k (or even 13.5k) unique, in the way that every con counts unique*, would not be surprising. Thursday was way, way busier than last year.

* For comparison I trust Otakon, AWA, Momocon etc to be giving us accurate numbers when they claim an attendance figure. When we look at numbers after a con we can give a good guess at the attendance (dollars sold to attendee ratio is usually pretty consistent) and Metrocon doesn't seem to be fluffing it more than anyone else. Certain other cons in Florida definitely are.

I worked at the booth you see in this pic (I don't run it, just working for them). we did well and there were certainly more people in the booth than last year, especially Thursday as I mentioned. To give one example, I also helped at Supercon earlier this month; they claimed 60k attendance last year (lmao not even close) and our Thursday+Friday sales beat all 4 of Super combined. Obviously Supercon isn't anime centric and the room there is giant so we won't do as well, but there just wasn't the crowd that we had in the aisles at Metro.

came here hoping to see pictures but i really shouldn't be surprised i only found drama like usual

metrocon wasn't nearly as good as its been in the past but i still had a good time. my camera was broken so i didn't get any good pictures, which was a shame because i saw a bunch of really cute cosplayers. One girl in particular was really cute and had the sweetest voice but I didn't know what she was cosplaying (something from an idol series she said).

Saw some really unexpected group cosplays too like Tokyo Mew Mew and the varia from katekyo hitman reborn, which was nice.

Spent a lot of time in the game room and at tabletop gaming, both of which were pretty decent this year.

I do think Metro needs to undergo some pricing changes, but I don't think they're open to suggestions for improvement. And the badge fakes here certainly didn't help sway their opinion on those who wanted to attend for free... Now they're just going to double down on badge security for next year. Metro counting person here. The attendance count we announce (just under 12k this year) is unique attendance. Each person who buys a pass of any form is counted once. 4 day pass = 1 person. 3 day pass = one person. Single day pass = 1 person. Rave only pass = 1 person. The only glitch to that system is if a person buys a single day pass, and then comes back and buys another one the next day.

The 3 day pass = 3 people math you are using is a different attendance number called "turnstile attendance", which is also listed on the conventions website, and is a larger number.

I mean, i'm pretty bad at math, but he's explaining this pretty well for us. This does make sense as to why the 12k 'attendance' felt more like 6-8k with a lot buying single day passes for multiple days.

We certainly did thanks to everyone who loved our stuff enough to purchase from us! I just feel bad for a lot of artists who didn't... There were so many this year.

yeah, I'm not overly fond of the idea either, maybe just make a hall pass? Like super cheap (20$/4 days) that get's into Vendor/AA.

I saw someone complaining in the metro group that because there were artist mixed in with the vendors (people who couldn't get AA tables) by the time they got to the AA they didn't want to buy anything else. I just don't get where Metro was going with this one. I'm never really fond of when cons mix their vendor with AA.

>>
>>9115532
And yet they aren't posting anything that can back up that figure, so... How do we know it isn't bullshit?
>>
>>9115637
not anyone youre replying too, but how would they do that???? receipts? like legit asking here, because idk how someone would prove that
>>
>>9115642
Doesn't matter how they do it, that's up to them to figure out, but they can't go claiming those numbers without proving it and they can't prove it because it's BS. I know when I worked for Metro we fudged the numbers because I handled the earnings statements and it was waaaaaay off for the attendance numbers they made public. At first I thought Roy was cooking the books but he was just an idiot who fetishized having the biggest convention so he lied about numbers. Dude was practically living on the poverty line. What an idiot. Anyway that tactic was passed on to Alex and Nick.

I hope someone here knows this.

There was this one booth I walked past and was only able to glance at it. I swear it was the art of MW-Magister being sold but wasn't able to get up close enough to see (I was walking with family, didn't want to be weird). The artwork featured big boobed Chinese cartoon women in provocative outfits. It was located between (I think) rows H and M of the Vendor's Area.

>>
>>9115637
It's total bullshit and the photos prove it. The Metro counting anon (hi Erin!) gives a good explanation of how the counting is supposed to be done but we have nothing but their word that it's actual.

So you say you had "just under 12k this year" and you're telling us you grew? The Metrocon wiki says you had 11,776 TWO YEARS ago (as reported to a news publication by the convention organizers) and 2015 is left questionably blank. Even if the con is fudging the numbers (which it's pretty obvious they are) that's still pretty lame growth and isn't backed up at all by the photos we're seeing.

Everything about Metrocon is bullshit anymore. Can't wait to see next year's price hikes!
>>
>>9115578
>yeah, I'm not overly fond of the idea either, maybe just make a hall pass? Like super cheap (20$/4 days) that get's into Vendor/AA.
I was thinking the same thing. Sure, $40 for a wristband isn't bad if you factor in the stage shows, the costume contest, the rave, etc. But a lot of people just want the traditional convention stuff like panels and shopping, and that's a terrible price if you only want those things.

IMO they should make the base ticket price cheaper and make some of the shows cost extra like how the Masquerade is. Show attendance would really suffer though.
>>
>>9115703
If you're talking about the Mascots I'm in full agreement. Blue-hair rainbow catboy faggot is the main staple by being /b/-levels of lolsorandom and no one was impressed by it. The mascots thing is completely separate from the show casts that actually have to work on shows instead of shilling the con everywhere they go and getting their pictures taken with cancer kids.

If you mean stuff like the shows that carry the theme like Chess Match I have to respectfully disagree because the show was badass this year.
>>
>>9116024
>If you mean stuff like the shows that carry the theme like Chess Match I have to respectfully disagree because the show was badass this year.

>Showing Joker getting punched out by someone but never showing who punched him
>Haruko from FLCL being one of the only interesting characters there and never even did anything (unless she did something from the first 50 minutes which I missed)
>Yuna summoning fucking Saitama, which is stupid in of itself because Saitama isn't even a MONSTER, he's a HUMAN and you can't summon FUCKING HUMANS IN FINAL FANTASY
>The Kefka's mic constantly sounding like it was broken from how much he was screeching
>The (I think?) gay shit that happened when the white haired faggot fell down during his fight and that black haired faggot rushing out to kiss him. Possibly, I don't know, but the amount of female screaming seemed to constitute it as such.

Literally the only good thing about that shit was they played a song from Flogging Molly that I'd never heard before and actually really liked. That's it.
>>
>>9116068
>batman
>she had 2 fights
> hey for all we know he could be a monster, but I get your point
> I still don't know how they're having problems with mics in their 14th year of this shit
>Hella gay, Seraph of the End, Blondie was drinking black hair boys blood b/c he's a vamp

I've finally put my finger on what I don't like about metro, it's still being run like a brand new con. Shows aside, the panels are meh and it seems like no one is really paying attention to what they are which means tons of shitty q&a panels.

But if they got rid of those then their would be practically no panels at all. With the dates being the first weekend in August next year, I'll probably won't be attending, which sucks because I live so close to the con. But regardless, I can go to Dragoncon which is like 10 dollars more and constantly be wishing for a Time Turner because there is so much to do. I'd rather spend money on a con that knows what it's doing.
>>
>>9115605
mizu seems to get tinier every year. not gonna bother going this year.
Guess I'll be seeing you at AFO though
>>
>>Empty hallways prove lower attendance

Those hallways used to be filled with people hall-conning. Like, 5,000 just ghosting. They where never counted in the attendance anyway. Just sayin, you guys have a hard on for making this sound like a bad thing. But I could walk, pose for photos, and find places to sit down without being swallowed by a cloud of human funk. I'm cool with the badge-checking.
I wish there had been more artists selling functional things instead of just prints. Prints are nice, but I wanted more variety of buttons and a phone case not covered in crap. But those I can find online, so I never bought anything in AA.
>>
>>9116164
what is the attendance at AFO like? I've never gone since the guest list/vendors room looks really small, but I've heard good things about the quality of the event.

You really think 5,000 people showed up to ghost in the past? I'd estimate it at more like a thousand. Hell even when Metrocon lied about getting 6,000 attendees if there were 5,000 people ghosting that 11,000 people felt like about 8,000 more people than were there this past weekend. FOOD. FOR. The artist access is free, as well as the pool party and halls. Other than that, if you love panels, that's your con to go to. AFO is generally really packed for a medium sized hotel space. And a lot of good food within walking distance.

>>
>>9116611
If they put the AA in the hallways I would gladly pay more for a table. I just dont think they are interested in changing a single thing for 2017.

On a side note.

>One person came to my table this weekend
>She had this large paper bag obviously purchased from said bag lady
>She tells me "I bought this bag but I didn't like the stuff in it.... Could I trade it for some your stuff?"
>I am stunned speechless
>Words are not coming out of my mouth
>Look at partner
>Tells her gently no

The blind bag was bought in the AA a few booths away from me. A literal bag of unidentifiable garbage, not even guaranteed to be artwork.
>>
>>9116728
What was with so many blindbags there not even having stuff in them from the booths theyre being sold at? I make sure to ask what kind of stuff you might get beforehand because half of them admit its all misc stationary and junk.
>>
Finally got settled back in from the weekend. Despite a couple of things I didn't do and not really able to get a lot for myself, I had a lot of fun. Jesus H. Christ though, the badge checks were fucking crazy this year. It was nowhere near this bad last year. I don't know what >>9111099 >>9111534 were talking about, but the Metrocon staff and the Sentry folks were fucking determined. I didn't even see these Sentry guys last year, I can't believe they got so paranoid that they asked for help from the people that officially work for that building. I mean, the 2nd artist alley entrace was completely unguarded, you just had to pass through a checkpoint to get to it first. And oh man, if you wanted to get to the gameroom, which was one of the few places to actually have fun at, you had to pass by three (3) fucking checkpoints.

I, at one point, when I was walking out of the hallway from it, saw Sentry checking badges with a flashpoint. If any of you were wondering why they were cracking down so hard on it, I actually asked the gameroom guy who got told what was happening. Apparently, some genius decided to print out these weekend passes at a reduced price. That is the STUPIDEST thing you could have done. If you sell something like this for cheaper, you're eventually going to get a lot of people buying it. You don't do that kind of shit unless your fake is 1:1 to the actual product; where it looks so real, not even the person who made the fucking badge could tell a difference. He got caught and was told to leave, but then he came back and did it again on Friday/Saturday. So if you want someone to blame for the staff being extra anal, blame the fagola who didn't put enough effort into making perfect dupes.

I asked one of my pals who was volunteering why they were acting like this and he said because he thinks they're trying to corner the market, that they don't want anyone in there unless they got a pass, which is fucking stupid, since most people would just want

1/2
>>
2/2

to come to these things to walk around and take pictures. If you be that anal and paranoid because you don't think you're going to make or the like, you're just going to push people away, and it showed, since I heard a lot of artists/vendors dropped the con this year. I'm probably not even going to go next year, since my friends suggested we go to AX instead, and I think that may be more enjoyable than Metrocon, ESPECIALLY if they try to do this shit again next year. I mean, the guests weren't even that good this year, they got a lot of B-tier VA's, Scott McNeil cancelled at the literal last minute and you couldn't even get Stuart to sign anything for free with the free pass since he distanced himself away from the autograph signings and set up shop in the vendor's room.

And good lord, the artist alley was terrible this year! I saw like 5 artists I knew that were good and they were all artists I had already seen before. The fucking amount of gay shit I saw being sold left me absolutely disgusted. Good god man, it took up around a good half to 3/4 of the AA. If they were trying to market Metrocon to women this year, then they fucking succeeded, since most of the shit being sold was for women. Not to mention I kept seeing fanart or merch for sale from either Undertale, Steven Universe, or some gay fanart of a sports anime, or all three being sold at the same booth. If these were the only kinds of artists they could get on short notice to make up for the ones that dropped, then I am so disappointed and I seriously hope they try and get better ones next year. Fuck, man.

Besides all that shit, I managed to have fun. Saw tons of cute girls, played a lot of games with fun people, got to have a casual convo while waiting for valet parking with the Genos dub VA, bought a bunch of gifts for my friends and got to see my b-boy friend school everyone at the rave on friday. All in all, a fun weekend.

I fucking know this booth, I bought keychains from here. Friendly advice mate, tell your artist partner or whoever draws those prints to keep trying to improve. The WoW art looks fine, but the Berserk/KLK/Morrigan/DBZ/& Ezio art looks like complete deviantart-tier ass. There's room for improvement though, so don't feel like I'm purposely insulting you. I didn't say this to you at the con because I didn't want to be rude, but keep working on that art so you can set yourself away from the huge amount of other DA-tier rejects I saw at that AA.

Yeah, I gathered it was Batman, but then Batman doesn't even show up in the final fight to try and do anything of importance, even when Joker was "killing" the cast. It's retarded. And having Haruko do two fights in the first 50 minutes, and then nothing for the rest of the match is even more retarded.

>>9116301
I expected nothing and was still disappointed. Until I heard that Flogging Molly song during that fight, then I was only slightly disappointed. You can't expect something to be quality when they reuse the John Cena meme two fucking times in a 30 minute timespan.

>>
>>9116852
>I didn't even see these Sentry guys last year
then you didnt use your eyes, they've been there every year i've gone.

and depending on which entrance you use the video game room can be reached with only one badge check.
>>
>>9116978
Then they must have blended in with the crowd, because I sure as hell didn't notice them. Maybe they made themselves more noticeable with their bright blue uniforms and intrusive behavior this year compared to previous ones. And fuck man, I wish I knew about that; getting to the game room would have been so much easier. Did you walk in from the outside near where the doors were near the restrooms?
>>
>>9116983
they wore the same uniforms this year as last, as for the game room the bayshore entrance is right next to the only badge check that was needed to get into that side hall. its not like the checks were more invasive this year over previous years, nobody gave me or anyone i saw any shit about them.
>>
>>9116991
>riverwalk entrance
i should say.

Personally this year for me was only meh because only two people i know could make it. and bow that i've gone 4 years running it feels like i've done everything.

I might do dragoncon instead next year.
>>
>>9116991
Then you got lucky mate. I saw people constantly getting their badge checked or having people looking really hard at mine like they were trying to see if it was a fake just so they could bust me. I didn't have nearly this much headache from the checkpoints as last year.
>>
>>9116996
It's a game to the asshole security guys in the kilts. They compete to see who can cut the most badges and have the most people thrown out during the con. They used to carry the clipped badges hanging off their belts to show off how many people they'd busted. They'll use any excuse to add to their count and it doesn't matter to them or the con owners since they already have your money.
>>
>>9115631
From the last couple of years it had gotten tinier because the show had been worse but I can say it does feel like it was slightly better last year and somehow they have been promoting it seems like they care more now. I'm going to give it one last chance seeing that they brought more than just two guests and the prize for the costume contest doesn't seem so bad
>>
>>9116996
I walked through badge checks constantly while running around all four days. As long as you didn't try to hide it and showed it to then they left you alone. Even when a mass group of people sent though they weren't messing with people unless they tried to do something shifty.

Badge checks are not that complicated and literally every convention you go to has them. They at least didn't require them to be visible at all times like I've seen at other conventions, as long as they were visible during the check you were fine.
>>
>>9117606
Then you must have missed the part during Friday or Saturday when they started checking peoples badges with flashlights.
>>
>>9117631
Welcome to the Metrocon Police State. Please have your paperwork and bribes in order at all times. Unescorted girls will be subject to random underwear checks. Anything we feel like will be used as grounds to have you removed from the con. Thanks for your money.

suck ass, they raised prices, and that pushed many people away from going. There was 20 to 25% of the original attendance just by gaging the pool party in 2015 to 2016.

I walked around looking at panels, and they were lame af. better close off the hallways next year, and watch your con die completely shitfucks.
