Mystic and Valor are full of autists and shitlords. Mystic (I chose this and regret it, kek is for the nerds who were made fun of for playing pokemon and are now elitists over the fact that a pokemon game is socially acceptable now. And Valor is for casuals/normies who are either first time or playing their first pokemon game since like 15 years.

I'm laughing at the intense rivalries that have come up though, shit is idiotic. We don't even know what our leaders look like yet.

I'm sorely tempted to make an outfit based on my avatar for a cosplay meet in a few weeks, but I'm already working on something (and don't want to throw it to the wayside along with my other abandoned projects).

For the shorts, though, I want to use a similar fabric as track jackets. Anyone know if it has a particular name? The fibre content on my own jacket (which has the type of fabric I want) is 94% polyester, 6% spandex. I can only find polyester spandex (like I would use for a bodysuit) or nylon outdoors fabric (like for tents and sporting gear bags).

I'm tempted to make a Magma cosplay since I'm Valor and OG magma girl is the best uniform of all time. But I second >>9099465 most of the mystics I've seen are super neckbeardy, and I'm super into Go for the fact that it gets my walking in for the day and I can have fun getting moderately riled up about gyms. Instinct varies around here though, several parents and several very shy people that kind of deer-in-headlights at me when I start talking to them at pokestops.

Picked Mystic since I liked Articuno, didn't really read the team descriptions too thoroughly. It's interesting that it's drawn out a lot of the teens/young adults to the neighborhood parks and community centers, you usually only see older folks or really young kids. I like that now I have motivation to go jogging more often.

I'm trying to get together a quick / easy cosplay for when I go out playing with my friends. One of them said he'd wear the kigu cosplay i made for him if i was a trainer. Still not sure if he's hitting on me or not.

Thinking about Misty and Hilda since they're the most basic / easiest to do + I won't need to buy anything extra, I can find a yellow tank at a thrift store somewhere.

I rollerblade around campus when I play so I've also been considering getting my Cardcaptor Sakura cosplay together (finally).

I don't really think they correlate either. Houses are usually grouped by problem-solving routes. Do you face the problem head-on, or do you research it first? Do you think about how it affects others, or do you manipulate the possibilities instead? I know the sorting hat's song is based in temperament, but for a school, it makes sense to sort kids based on how they learn/solve problems.

Where as pokemon, I think, is straight image. You go with the team that you think suits your personality. Are you chill, or perky, or hot-headed, or a "smart guy"? People would pick the team that they think best represents the way they present themselves.

So, you know, there are people with persistent personalities, but still like to solve skills based on research. There're people that are a bit more brash, but still like using a support system to solve their problems. It mostly correlates, but I think you're right when it comes to differences.

Of course, now the teams are being grouped with the houses, so people are more inclined to pick teams based on what houses they'd be in, so it becomes less and less of a difference...

As someone who joined a team then switched, here's my two cents.

>Team Red:
Seems to be less spergy than Team Blue.
Is a popular team.
Controls a lot of gyms.

But on the bad sign if you're in Murica you can't really go out flashing your team colors without being mistaken for a famous gang. Also there's constant pissing matches with Team Blue online that gets really obnoxious. Players on this team are infamous for getting too into it and too serious.

Seems to be the bigger team out of the three.
Is basically tied with Red for most popular team.
Controls a lot of gyms.

On the bad side, like Red, you can't really wear team colors out without being mistaken for a famous gang. Also they fight with Red constantly and I wouldn't be surprised if a brawl in real life started out by die hards of the two teams getting too drunk and going at it. This team is also known, like Red, for having players that take it too seriously.

Pretty chill team, never heard anything bad about them.
They seem to be holding their own and slowly controlling gyms.
Seems to be more about having fun than about being the champions out of the teams.
You can wear team colors as much as you want without being confused for a gang for it, which is a major plus if you live in the city.

On the bad side, they're the smallest team so you have to really struggle to get hold of gyms.
They also get mocked the most but eh, it's not that big of a deal. It just gets tiring depending on how obnoxious the person is.
So yeah, I love Team Yellow and actually quit my high level game with a bunch of rares just to restart and join my friend on Team Yellow and I haven't regretted it a bit.

If you live near a hospital with a large campus where it wouldn't be weird for someone to be taking a stroll check it out. There's usually a lot of historical and art related pokestops and a lot of modules being used by bored patients, visitors and the children's wing

Valor is the only team that makes sense. Team Instinct is about hoping to be the main character, and Team Mystic is about using science to reign supreme. Nice idea, but poke-scientists have failed to do things like evolve Magnazone and even Mewtwo is just a creature exactly as powerful as the thing you cloned it from, and its an asshole.

Valor is about working hard.

IT BEGINS

I feel like I'm the only one who really disdains the concept of gyms and the gameplay for them.

Picking teams? Fine. But in my area literally NO gyms are stable. Ever. I've only seen a gym go up to level 7 and then within a night is was gone and replaced with low cp mons from another team. Which basically means despite placing high cp mons in them I never last to make monies ever. I think the one time I managed to make anything was during some weird transition hour, but it got taken a few hours after. It's obnoxious.

I'd rather have AI gyms with badges, and having the level ups affect how many rare pokemon are seen and how high of a cp level a trainer with badges can use to fight. It also sucks how they couldn't even get NPCs to challenge for stardust or exp.

Not only that, but the gyms fucking freeze on me all the damn time so I'm out there looking like a twat having to restart the game twice to even have a shitty battle, which is so boring.

That's cause Go is a skin on top of Ingress. They used the Ingress "energy" to map out where Pokemon appear. The energy is where people use their phones cause google tracks usage.

I'm considering doing a low-key trainer cosplay for the next con. Not dressing up as my avatar, but rather just doing a regular more cutesy outfit and adding appropriate touches like a pokeball belt, badges etc.

In regular games you'd always meet a variety of people who just happen to train pokemon on the side - kids, schoolgirls, teachers, workers - and I think it fits the concept behind GO much better than that full fitness gear.

I'll probably get accused of closet cosplay or laziness though, heh.

I live in a middle of nowhere, my closest pokestop is a kilometer away and all that spawns (rarely) is weedles, rattatas or pidgeys. I expected rare-ish grass pokemons instead, since it's the most logical. Maybe they'll pop up once I'm level 20.

But I can easily see how upset would people be if they actually had to travel to catch a rare pokemon instead of just circling central park a few times. I'd fucking love it, I'd be a great incentive and reward to go around the country especially since I actually prefer slow-paced long-term play instead of maxing out in a matter of weeks and then getting bored. But I guess there's also the question of servers, service coverage etc.

I've found that the most rare pokemon do actually have specific spawn points. There's an out of the way hill in my area that's a good place to go sledding in the winter that is well known to GO players as the only place for miles around to catch Dratinis. The next city over (about 40min drive time) is the closest place to get Snorlax. The most reliable way to find cool Pokemon has just been to talk to other trainers and ask them what they know and where they've found things, which I think is an incredibly neat aspect of social play.

Ambiguous, same as the other two. Anime faces are so stylized they don't actually look like anything. Blanche could be any ethnicity that could reasonably have that skin color, and Niantic probably did not design these characters to be specific ethnicities. They're color-diverse and otherwise not ethnicity-specific.

My brother and I are both mixed White and Southeast Asian. I took the Yellow undertone, but my brother the Brown/Tanned one, and it both looks similar to our real skin color. Just want to point out that the 3rd skin tone can be used for Asian too. Pretty sure that if this game hits SEA, there's gonna be a lot of people picking that one, except the ones with a lighter skin tone or the desire of wanting to have a lighter skin tone.

Several of my white friends picked the brown/tanned skin tone because they tan so easily that this is the colour they are at least nine months out of the year. My Indonesian friend picked the "black" skin tone because that's exactly what her skin looks like. I think it's pretty silly to ascribe specific races to these skin tones since there's a wide range of skin tones for practically every race anyway.
Personally I'm white with a very yellow undertone but I picked the one with the pinkish undertone because I like the look of that one better, especially since there are so few flattering outfit colours to choose from at this point in the game.
