Would it be okay for someone with a stocky build to cosplay gremlin D.Va?
I love the hell out of D.Va, but i'm really short and wide (in the shoulders and the like, not like I'm overweight), and just generally un-D.Va like.
I was thinking of it being a way to get around not having the right body type, but still being able to make the full costume, and then being able to be like "haha it's ok guys it's just a joke". Will people still look down on it as being an alternative meme cosplay though if i still construct the whole bodysuit?

I wanna cosplay Junkrat, but I'm a girl..
I really don't feel like investing in one of those huge muscle suits, because they're really expensive, so I'm considering doing a gender bent version...

I've found these pics so far that I kinda like, I'm thinking of doing a mix of all of them

It feel like its going to be a serious construction project no matter how you do it, but here is what I would do...

You want your head to be about where D.va sits, so you have something to look out of. Your arms go into the cannon arms, and your legs go into the legs such that your legs are at the front and most of the robot 'leg' is begin you. If you really want to replicate the way the mech walks, you will have to get something like those fetish pony boots that force you to walk on your toes and basically turn your feet into hooves. I have absolute no idea how comfortable that would be, but I know they exist because I saw someone use them to cosplay a Tau Firewarrior once.

If you go with that sort of setup, what this means is that you will basically be walking around like a velociraptor, and the bulk of the mech will be behind you, and a fair amount of hit will be on your back. To make that not absolutely insane, that means most of the mech needs to be light as shit.

So your best bet is probably something like foam blocks covered in a thin sheet of plastic (like wonderflex or worbla) in order to give it that armor finish.

I have no idea how you would ever sit down or do other con things in such a costume, though. Its not very functional. You dont even have hands, unless you find a way to actually so the exposed arm-thing that Dva does, which I dont think you can do without making an actual robot suit.

The good news is that most of Zarya's outfit is fairly generic scifi armor. I feel like a lot of that can be replicated by finding other scifi costumes and modifying them to be closer to Zarya's.

The only part of her costume that is super unique is the gun. That you have no real choice but to make.

i'm going to cosplay widowmaker for Anime Weekend Atlanta and i want to make her rifle and goggles move like they do in-game, but i've never made anything with moving parts, and i don't even know where to start or what to even look up. does anyone know any good tutorials or could point me in the general direction?

Gremlin D.Va is the best thing that's happened to tubby cosplayers who want to do sexy/fit characters.

To make it work though, you have to put the orange makeup around your mouth and carry around a party size bag of Doritos. Otherwise the fact that you're in on the joke doesn't get communicated. There's no reason why you can't make the full costume like that.

Bonus points if you replace the pink triangles on her face with Doritos or MtnDew logos.

Started over on my McCree gun yesterday. Didn't like how it was going with the previous technique, so I'm redoing it with MDF instead of a balsa/ply sandwich. Also disregard the battery markings, I'm gonna have to skip lighting on this thing. There just isn't time to get it done right, and I'd rather have a durable and good looking prop than a shitty one that lights up.

AX anxiety is looming pretty hard now, but I think I should be able to get it done in time. I guess I need to go cowboy hat shopping in the next week or so. I think I'm gonna have to skip accurate shoes and just wear my normal brown boots as well, which probably won't be a big deal.

Also, I'm actually kind of glad McCree got nerfed - now I don't have to feel bad about cosplaying the OP scumbag character of the game.

Im going as Hanzo. Some anon in the last thread suggested mcree, which i wouldn't mind either.

His clothes and equipment arent that challenging, i already have some of the materials to recreate it.

The biggest concern is the tattoo, im thinking of getting it done in henna, but, wow its going to be expensive.

I already have a bun with a few bits of loose hair, and i could easily put some temporary dye to get the sides of my hair grey/silver.

I know another anon said that an actual wig would be better, but im just doing this with friends for fun, depending on how this turns out maybe ill invest in one.

You can get tattoo transfer paper to print on and there are services which will print it for you. Just get a high quality vector of it, although with the size and placement it might be pretty tricky to apply. Dust a little translucent powder of the top of the tattoo for it to look a little more realistic.

I'm really stuck on making Yeti Hunter Mei's hat. I'm planning on making it out of suede but I'm really stuck on the ingame colour. It seems like it's the same colour as the backpack, which when I colour-picked both it came out green. However my friend tells me it's grey ingame for them.

So I was gettin' real sick of filing and sanding, and found out that Harbor Freight has a $54.99 belt sander. Guess what I just bought.

Where has this thing been all my life? It would've taken like a solid 6 hours of work, even with my little electric hand sander, to do what I just did in 20 minutes with the belt sander. That's the frame pretty much done.

does anyone have any suggestions for a Junkrat wig?

Started work on a female roadhog, not changing much of the initial design though may add red lipstick to the gasmask.

Will add progress pictures when I finish bits and pieces. I'm 6'2 and built like a brick shit house but I got a huge belly. Like the Junkrat gender bend above I'll probably go for a sports bra, there's no way in hell I'm missing an opportunity to make people uncomfortable with my huge stomach and cosplay my favourite character at the same time!

Those are literally the easiest parts for me as I enjoy making props. The shoes on the other hand have to be a lot more comfortable than a normal prop, have to go through a lot more wear and tear than my props (being held and bumped into vs being walked on for 12 hours) and require sewing to match the rest of the outfit, which is my biggest weakness. Try Slipstream Tracer. She's a lot more forgiving if you're not that skinny because it's a bit looser in design (baggier pants, thin armor on shoulders, etc)
