I'm working on my McCree right now. Just patterned out the gun, and I'm about to go shopping for materials.

What do you guys think about using a nice canvas type material for the chaps and stuff instead of the leather that it's officially supposed to be? I don't have the budget or skill for real leather, and I think vinyl will look a lot tackier than fabric, even if it's technically inaccurate.

This is my little shop. It's in dire need of an update, because it's looking empty. But yeah, I'm addicted to overwatch so I'll start crafting some stuff for it. Just went and bought some little trucks from a thrift store for the RIPtire accessory today. I would have modeled them, but I wanted them to have that genuine rubbery feel of a tire. Nope. I just insert them as-is, and scrape away any resulting bubbles. I tried sealing them, but it honestly resulted in ugly edges that were too much work to cut and correct. My stickers are generally submerged face-down into a mold, rather than what a lot of other projects seem to do.

Sorry, I'm a retard and had another project on my mind. Yes, I stick them with their own sticky side to some cardstock or posterboard, seal the edges with modpodge, and then dome the tops. I used to dome the backs with an opaque resin afterward, but sometimes spills would happen, and it seems like a waste of resin, so I'm forgoing that step. I'm now colouring them with a solid acrylic paint and then adding a layer of modpodge and glitter over the nacks to finalise the seal of the whole thing. (After E6000 gluing the pins)

Definitely will do. I'm working on his gun right now, building it from scratch with wood and plastic so it's a pretty labor-intensive process. I'm using hobby plywood for the inner layer and then will "sandwich" it with balsa for sculpting, and I've barely gotten the plywood part shaped out after a few hours because the stuff is so damn hard and takes forever to cut and sand. Just gotta cut out and bevel the trigger guard and then the rest should go pretty quickly though.

I'm changing tactics and decided to scrap the plywood/balsa sandwich in favor of MDF, which I think will be stronger and easier to work with. I'm currently trying to decide if I should put LEDs in this thing or not - the lighting itself would be easy and cool as hell, but it probably won't show well in photos and it'll make the prop way more of a pain in the ass.

I kinda want to do casual Mei as my sunday fuck it cosplay for my local con (my entire group is usually super done on the last day and only stays for a few hours after packing stuff)

I for sure am going to paint all the swirl details onto the pants to add a little more work to it, and will have a Snowball with me as well. Was debating icecream prop or making a bag that looks like her ice pack on her back. Only reason I'm picking the fuck it lazy version is because it's going to be summer with probably 100+ weather. If time allows from other costumes I may make her jacket and tie it around my waist. Any other suggestions though?

Aegyo sal makeup looks fucking weird if you have big eyes already. It's make up and surgery to make small eyes like... normal sized.

I've seen cosplayers with big eyes do aegyo make up and it just make their eyes look buggy and gross. Not to mention most of them don't even cover up their under bags right-there's a difference between highlighting aegyosal/make up to draw on aegyosal versus highlighting your swollen eyes from party con last night or getting only a handful of hours of sleep. Just do a make up test first and see if it works with your face.

Yeah, there was a huge sweep. They removed anything that had the Overwatch name or logo like, right after release. I do cosplay patches, so I got hit hard. Emailed the lawyer about it and they explained I could get around it as long as I removed the name Overwatch because it infringes upon the "good will of the trademark" (the name and logo are protected), but all the leggings got removed and I haven't seen them since.

Anyway, Im tempted to cosplay Mccree, I can grow a beard but its mostly bright brown and red-ish in color, if I dyed it then the color wouldnt match my regular hair which makes the whole thing a one time procedure (grow beard for weeks, trim beard, dye beard, cosplay with beard, shave off beard).

Your hair is irrelevant for most cosplay, because 90% of the time, you're going to want to use a wig. Even if your natural hair is pretty similar, a good wig (read: not from Party City) will look much better than natural hair, it will stay styled for longer, won't get greasy, tends to photograph better, and is easier to more closely match things like hair shade, length, and style without fucking up your hair's shit with dye, cutting, and excessive product.

You Can use your natural hair, but you are better served with getting a wig, so what your actual hair looks like needn't factor in to your cosplay choice.
