You'd benefit a lot from an actually well-made top (it's really not hard, ask a friend maybe if you don't think you can do it yourself), a wig (NEVER USE YOUR OWN HAIR PLEASE) and maybe some shading on your abs.

Honestly, put just a tiny smidgen of more effort in and you could be a stellar Joseph.

it looks bad and is inaccurate to the 'anime' style. Wigs give the right colour, volume and shape.

Also, makeup- You need to smoothen out your face and also learn eyeliner/eye makeup etc.. JoJo's is a highly stylized anime/manga and you need to reflect that in your cosplay and makeup.

I agree. >>9034311 obviously has muscles but Joseph's abs are so defined you'd probably have to be <10% body fat to match it. Something like pic related (one of my favorite Joseph cosplays) is a good example of ab shading and a well-made top.

I get your point, yeah. It's probably because the Pillarmen are some of the easiest to cosplay? (And fairly early on into the series if you were just getting into Jojo) It's really basically just modified underwear with foam bits and such.

When I think of female pillar people I imagine them to have a figure like in >>9048814. I don't think Araki would draw them equally as buff because his females tend to look slim and lean.

A genderbent Kars or Wamuu done by a thin female would look weird because yeah those characters are extremely built. If that same female did some random pillar person though that doesn't seem to be too off.

You could do that. I personally used spandex for mine, and with that all I had to was use a little frey check and everything stayed in place just fine. When you wash it, all you do is just carefully hand wash and air dry, and everything stays fine.

I'm gonna be doing Joseph Joestar in several months. Gonna be a while because I'm gonna be in tip top condition, with as close to his body type and muscle definition even though I'm not 6'4.

Like the second anon said, a Malinda from Arda would be your best bet. I know they also offer a few lacefronts in blue if you want a more natural hairline. You could also check out Wigisfashion's lacefronts and see if they have any nice blue ones. Either way, get ready to do a lot of wefting.

Thanks, I definitely need to look into how make up works in the first place yes. Also, I was kinda extra lazy because I hadn't planned to wear this cosplay in the first place, so any actual planning for it was zero sadly enough.

What is a good amount of makeup for this?
I've seen people complaining that stylizing it like in the manga is too much but not enough makeup is also bad so....I'm pretty clueless.

Most complaints I've seen about Jojo makeup were about people drawing lines on their faces which honestly rarely looks good. Other than that, it depends a lot on who you're cosplaying imo: With some characters you could get away with basic, natural looking makeup (like >>9095057 or >>9095047), others only need some definition of the eyes and eyebrows, and some characters call for a much more dramatic look, like Kars for example.
I'd say that foundation, setting powder, and mascara at the bare minimum are necessary regardless of the character, if only to even out your skin tone and define your eyes but again it really depends.

How shitty is it to cosplay genderbends? Okuyasu is my favorite character in Jojo + the only character left in an otherwise full part 4 group but I am way too feminine to pull him off normally. I really like emlan's genderbend of him too and would love to cosplay it haha.

Humble selfpost to ask for any and all advice on makeup-- what I'm wearing in pic related is pretty heavy handed for my usual cosplay looks, but I feel like for Rohan it kind of works. Any critiques? I'm conflicted as I enjoy the colored manga's palette choices plus the one merch she has(pic related). The random dark pink panelling threw me off as that was never a thing in her design and the eye color choice was jarring. Plus the greenish-yellow for the accent bits instead of just another pink or a normal yellow...
I don't know, it's not like Jojo has canonical colors but hopefully I can grow to like this one.
