Just look on Instagram and twitter.
I was only looking at the costumes with big foam and worbla pieces. Which were mostly pretty decent. Everyone had slight issues with surface finish or other final touches.
I can't judge a lot of the sewn costumes although judging by the males there were a lot of store bought costumes and props. In particular I saw Antmen and Arrows

Somehow her dad, and by extension her ended up hanging out with the group I was with. When it got late I could see she was obviously bored out of her skull, but it was too loud to talk, so I passed her my phone with a note saying she should tell her dad she wants to go home.
She angrily passed it back, and she shouted "I can't read!" in my ear. Took a few tries, way too fucking loud.
Frankly I was quite bored by that point, and I was drunk, so it must have been awful for her.

I have to say it was a bit of a disappointment. Last time I went it was 35 quid. Then 45 last year's october, but I had to sell my ticket as I couldn't go. Now it was 50 and I felt quite lonely most of the time. That said, Saturday was quite a blast and I couldn't move for a long time without being stopped for pictures. Quite a lot of people seemed to be happy with my cosplay.

Given that she was English, it would be quite impressive if she can read in different languages but not her own. Definite fail on behalf of the staff at the fox, she was clearly a kid (I judged her to be 12, she said she was 13) and not only were they not asked to leave at 8 like the signs said under 18's would, she was able to get served at the bar. Oh, where to begin?

They are, effectively, a collective who believe that they are the only authority when it comes to anything weeb-related. 'Collective' meaning their 5 cons, their smaller meet-ups, some poorly-organised pub crawls, even more poorly-organised park meetings, as well as their retard forum.

Their CEO/Chairman of the Board, Michael Towers, has a sordid history of pissing just about everyone off, be it badgering on about AL at other cons, to getting banned from all MCM events altogether (happened in 2010 when he somehow managed to get every MCM forum user's email address and advertise his own Scientology religion/AL). The man/little boy is constantly paranoid and takes any and every form of criticism personally.

I worked for them briefly in con registrations about 10 years ago when I was in my uni's anime and manga society, before I even realised what kind of fuck-stick Towers really was. He and his 'crew' were totally clueless on how a con is supposed to operate; when they weren't moving boxes around or whatever, they just went straight to the bar or on the DDR machines.

So yeah, despite how much they love to dress themselves up, the rest of the anime community actually look out for each other (or try to), while AL seem to think that only they can be the savior of the UK anime community (despite the fact that like 60-70% or their forum users aren't even British!). Avoid. Alcon is a waste, LAGC will be worse...their other shitty ones that I don't remember where are just as worse...

Mike Towers is a prime example of everything wrong in the UK community. He's sexist, money grabbing, deluded, lazy AF and thrives on petty drama.

Me and a bunch of others basically ran one of his fAiL cons due to the fact he wanted to hit on underage girls at the bar. They are always a cluster fuck too, he doesn't organise a thing, it turns into absolute shit in the build up and it's the helpers and other people that try and salvage his sprinkle covered shitstorm.

And sadly, it happens every year! Me and a bunch of others have left him to his shit, but more unsuspecting good willed people line up, because AL conventions can't be all that bad right?

Which con is the best for guests?
MCM constantly churns out awful guests, LAGC only seems to have one or two guests, same with the entire network they run.
I just want to meet VAs and people who work on anime in general. Seemed a few years ago almost every con had this shit as an almost requirement.

At the con I worked at (2006 at the Rocket Complex in July heatwave), I was solely responsible for con registrations.

Organising the kids outside into an orderly line so they don't disrupt the general public (who piss themselves laughing at the cardboard cosplays) is a task in of itself, and keeping check of the other staff on the front desk was my responsibility.

Because I was the front desk (and the one who gave off 'the first impression' of the con), I was especially given a great amount of pressure from douchebag. And we weren't blind in what mess was happening inside the Rocket Complex itself either. Untidiness, deafening music, overcrowding, and lots of underage drinking.

The 10 or so kids I was in charge of were all relatively okay people, and some of us were as experienced in events as I was (if not more so), and come 7 or 8 o'clock, we were prepared to do either one of two things:

1. Mutiny. Get the other department heads to step aside and let the more experienced of us handle things.
2. Down our tools and leave altogether. Tell douchebag that he can do one, and for us to find the nearest pub.

We did neither though. And to this day I still regret not doing it.

yes, there were fewer normies. there wwere fewer cosplayers overall, and a lot more interaction between the attendees. Nowadays people snap a picture with their iphone and move on, whereas before people would come up to cosplayers and talk about their shared interests and make friends. people would talk to the person next to them beside a booth and make friends that way. the masquerade was a little less good than it is now but not by much, and it was plenty more popular. people would cheer for their favourite characters regardless of costume quality and there was more of a party vibe in general. the halls werent quite as crowded and there were more things to interact with, like MTG tournaments and large amounts of tables with papers and pens for doodling and chilling out, where you could always find a seat and chat with some strangers.

its no lie that comic con was better back then, but cons generally were. not because of less manchildren and neckbeards, in fact it was quite the opposite. normies are just wastes of space, they dont want to interact just observe, and they attend the con like its a safari, scoffing at cosplayers and the "weird japanese cartoons".

theyre entitled to be ignorant and passive, but they certainly dont make the con better for it. These days theres really no reason to visit comic con because absolutely everything that used to be worth seeing or doing is gone. theres just a lot of stalls with cheap generic tat from china, shitty tumblr artists and overpriced snacks.I wish I knew before attending this year.

Check out the reviews of Tripadvisor, every time there's always angry reviews from people who had the misfortune of stopping during a con. Most of them say that the hotel should have warned them beforehand there was an event taking place, and when the hotel replies they always say "we're under no obligation to."

I own a long black one! The fibres are very smooth, it holds styling nicely, and while I do find it tangles quickly (perhaps due to the length), it's very quick and easy to detangle again. I'm pretty impressed by Coscraft's quality in general to be honest, I use them for all my wigs now since I prefer to do my own styling for most wigs.


I had a long curly Coscraft wig that I passed out in at a party, slept on, then threw in a box under my bed for two years. Absolutely could not have been any more fucked up. I decided to see if I could salvage it to avoid buying a new wig, so I straightened it with hot water and a hair dryer, cut some length off, did some styling, now I have a perfectly nice straight black wig and you would never know what a fucking mess it was last summer. I found that pretty damn convincing as to coscraft's quality.

I managed to find some proof from last year when a disabled con-goer asked him about wheel chair entry to the Manchester Halloween Minicon. When he or any of the other organisers didn't bother to answer her he went off saying that they shouldn't of asked on Facebook and should of rang and when the disabled girl explained being deaf and could only lip read he acted like they shouldn't of treated the Facebook event page as the place to get information even though he was CLEARLY treating the page as just that- the place to get all of the info. Telling people what times to meet etc etc.

Semifat here also. 254lbs, 6'3" Lost about 5 pounds in the last 2 weeks from eating at a calorie deficit and doing basic weights and crosstrainer meme machine for building stamina on my limbs.

As far as diet goes you want to cut out as much carbs as you can or at least stick to wholemeal and such because you'll feel full longer. Try to eat fruit n veg instead of having a sandwich. Also try to reduce any sugar-y foods or drinks drastically.

As far as doing weights goes you can just get some basic dumbbells to keep you active.
That should be a good start to get the ball rolling.

If at any time you're feeling unmotivated, check out /fit/'s fat hate threads, mostly the images over the discussion' it's really helped me be motivated to not end up like that.
