I haven't been in six years.

What's the tolerance for musical instruments these days? When I went in '07 and again in '09 and '10 I brought my electric guitar to play vidya music outside and made my entire weekend's spending back in a single day. By the end of the con though there'd be 12-20 people with their guitars brought from home and the staff would be breaking up jam-circles.

This still happen since I stopped going?

Is it too early to start posting cosplays?

I'm going as an EXALT soldier from XCOM: Enemy Within. I;m not really happy with how it turned out, but for a scraped together closet cosplay, I'm content. I did do a decent make up mock up (dark eyes, green scales, etc) but I didnt take a picture because I'm an idiot. I'm going to add a few last minute add ons, like filling the syringes with yellow jello to simulate the Meld substance, adding a small earpiece, maybe a small gold/brass pocket watch to spruce up the vest, and a water bottle with "XCOM Rookie Tears: Extra Salty" hung on my waist as well.

I live outside of Toronto, not too far away but enough that I don't need to go into the city more than a dozen times a year. I had a few buddies there growing up but they've moved on and gone elsewhere and I've lost contact.

Last year there was a full jazz/rock band on the grass between hotel and TCC. I also saw at least one person playing guitar and another playing music through an amp on the front driveway of the TCC. I think it's fine as long as you're not doing it near lineups or traffic bottlenecks.

All of the events are indoors but there are long walks between the buildings. The cosplay photoshoots do not have any alternate locations for rain, no spaces inside.

I'm pretty excited for this weekend, last year my friends dipped on me last minute so I was alone at the con. Ended up going to the /cgl/ meetup. Little tip for anyone driving in: The TCC has a rear entrance on the other street that's always empty of pedestrians crossing and no long car lineups. It just doesn't look like it's connected from the outside.
