So we're bashing photographers again.

Cosplayers have a shit fit when people tell them what to cosplay. But, photographers have to shoot every single cosplayer, regardless of interest.

Discuss this bullshit.
>>
From a photographer's perspective, I sort of get not wanting to shoot something/someone. Photographers are free to photograph whatever or whoever they want. If you want to take pictures exclusively of assholes, you can do that.

Personally, I really don't want to spend hours of my life shooting and editing someone that put zero effort into their cosplay. I really don't care if my models are gorgeous, just as long as they're trying. As long there's some effort put in, I can go from there.
>>
>>8887363
Man, fuck Misa on Wheels. If I want to shoot only the most gorgeous, nude cosplay girls 24 hours a day, then I'm "awesome" too.

Photogs really need to come together and stick up for ourselves like the cosplayers do.
>>
>>8887363
We already have "specialty" photographers pooping up who choose to photograph cosplayers of dark skin only and even they have standards of what to shoot
>>
she's getting on my nerves. she's already getting enough attention from just using her disability, yet she goes on these crusades to elevate herself and acts like it's for others.
>>
>>8887363
I only photograph characters and cosplays I like, and things there would make for an interesting photo. I can however appreciate all cosplayers anyway. Like good for you getting out dressing up, just because you don't catch my eye doesn't mean I don't appreciate what you do. whatever race, size etc.
>>
I photograph anyone who catches my eye.

Bad cosplays are less likely to catch my eye, unless it's a rare character.

I'll happily shoot anyone who asks.
>>
>>8887395
>Photogs really need to come together and stick up for ourselves like the cosplayers do.

I wonder why we don't? When I meet photographers IRL, in non-convention settings, I've found most are pretty boring once we get past shop talk.

But at conventions, you'd think we'd have a lot more in common, but most still act like petty bitches who are nice to your face, then talk shit about you to cosplayers.
>>
>>8887405
>pooping
>>
>>8889997
Where the hell do you live? In California, most of the photographers are friends and we actually hang out in and out of conventions. Most of the cosplay photographers are nerds who like Videogames, Anime, Manga, TV shows, movies and other stuff. So we get along really well.

A bunch of us had a Oscar hangout party yesterday.

I wonder if her name was inspired by a certain infamous wiki troll?

East Coast. I keep hearing on here that the West Coast is more chill and no one charges for anything, but out here everyone's always hustling.

Except for me, I have another job. If I had to hustle, photography wouldn't be fun, it would be work.
>>
>>8890099
As far as I know, it was just because she was cosplaying as Misa and one of her friends gave her the nickname.
>>
OP here.

>>8889997
OMFG THIS.

>>8890030
Maybe because you guys don't charge, you don't have to fight to the death over bookings like we East Coast-ers do.
>>
From a cosplayers POV I hate to say it but she's got a point here.

Between cosplayers and photogs there seems to be an endless argument about whom the bigger victim is but I don't think there's a final answer?

Personally, though, I've seen and been given some pretty dick behavior from photographers in my comm. Not even isolated incidents either, it's happened with relatively big names. I've been invited to shoots and had the photographer ignore me and literally shoot everyone else there including randos who showed up and was told it's because the others were prettier. Some photogs I've worked with won't even think about using you in their ads if you're under 1000 likes (even though their own pages are less than that.). Advertising with photos that are just ok and have a big name or half naked chick just makes you look beta and unprofessional but people keep doing it because getting your tits and ass out keeps being valued over talent.

Both cosplayers and photographers SEEM to want this to change but don't want to risk losing the internet popularity contest over it.
>>
Really seagulls. Every other cosplay thread on this board is spent bitching about how cosplay is turning into softcore porn or how the cosfamous are whores of Babylon but then you get salty when someone else points this out?

Make up your goddamn minds.
>>
>>8890334
it's probably the photographers this time bitching
I, however, will not lie. If I'm going to take photos, I want it to be of something that looks good. Cosplay photography is shallow as fuck and I wouldn't have it any other way.
>>
>>8887363
I already unfollowed her after she tried to shame cosplayers with large breasts.
>>
>>8890510
omg did she really?? I have to see this shit
>>
>>8890510
proofs anon, proofs!
>>
I agree with the first comment, I really don't care how pretty you are. If you're passionate about what you're doing and you put effort into your Cosplay then im happy to shoot you.
>>
>>8889997
>wonder why we don't?
Because you get labled a creep and then nobody will shoot with you.
>>
>>8890358
Sure but let's be honest, where in OP's image does it say that you have to photograph an equal amount of black, fat, lazy, etc cosplayers in order to not be an asshole? As far as I can tell it's just giving props to photographers who shoot people who aren't Jnig and other ultra attractive cosplayers (skimpy cosplays optional). Heck the image isn't even shitting on photographers who do this - just praising ones who have more well rounded portfolios.

You guys are up in arms over a whole lot of nothing.
>>
Tbh I'm really sick of this mentality among cosplayers that we owe them photos of themselves? If it's a tog hired by the con, that's one thing, but the rest of us aren't obligated to spend time on a photo we don't feel will turn out well. Regardless if it's because of how the costume/cosplayer looks, the character, the AU, the cosplayer's experience with working with togs...
This was brought up by someone in a cosgroup on fb I'm part of and while I agree that singling out people you don't want to shoot one on one with from a group is a dick move, photographers still don't owe you shit.
>>
>"Photographers who do x are awesome"
>"I do y so fuck you you little bitch, all you want is attention, how dare you praise something I don't do"

It's almost like some photogs get really defensive when cosplayers aren't actively kissing their asses....
>>
>>8892129
A whipped dog expects more of the lash, even when he's being petted.
>>
Wow. I didn't notice I deserved a whole thread. Nice.
>>
>>8895195
Calm down, girl.

Just chill out on the photographer bashing. Some of us like to shoot hot girls in various states of undress, and that's cool. It doesn't make us bad people, just... heterosexual.

And there's no need to shame the "hot girl" cosplayers either. Cuz if your legs worked, and you had a hot body, you'd be doing the same thing.

OP out.
>>
>>8895192
Do you require any nails for your cross, kind sir?
>>
Fuck all of you guys. I called this bitch out years ago and you called me a faggot for calling out a cripple for attention whoring using her disability. Now all of a sudden she is shit list number 1 because she posted another one of her usual stupid equality posts? Fuck all of you, now you have to reap what you sown. Enjoy the monster you created that is misa on wheels.
>>
To all the photogs here that say they do shoot anyone who looks like they put the effort in, I also praise you.

I am not saying fuck you to the photogs that want to shoot sexy cosplays only at all. You do you, really you do not owe anyone anything. Just as someone who rarely cosplays sexy characters I appreciate the photogs that care about craftsmanship or even just a well made school uniform, good makeup and good wig. I'm always impressed when people can shoot plainer outfits but still make the pictures interesting.
>>
>>8895315
You're missing the point of the OP.

The point is, cosplayers expect to be able to cosplay anyone they want without anyone telling them what to cosplay or how to cosplay it. They don't want any overt or implied negativity on what they choose to do as their hobby (or profession, if they decide to "go pro").

Same with photographers. If you say, "Photographers who shoot everyone are awesome," you imply that photographers who have specific preferences, or standards, are elitist, racist, creeps, or whatever. We want to shoot what we want to shoot, period, and your opinion on our preferences is not wanted, warranted, or relevant. It's really crazy how you say you hate shaming so much, but all your posts are about shaming people.
>>
>>8895345
...Anon, I am pretty sure the person you're replying to is the one who wrote the OP image.

>you imply that photographers who have specific preferences, or standards, are elitist, racist, creeps
No it doesn't? It means that photogs who only shoot the popular hottie are doing what everyone else does and are unremarkable. If I say "people who like chocolate are awesome" it doesn't imply that people who like vanilla have taste for shit, it just means that I'm not praising you at this very second.
>>
>>8895345
You can praise people for whatever you want. I don't get why if you praise one type of person/one style of the hobby that means you're shaming others. That is not what it means, you are too easily offended. If someone says they love sexy cosplayers, does that mean they dislike non-sexy cosplay? Maybe not. I am not implying anything, just stating an opinion.
>>
>>8895192
Yeah you poor poor photographers... those big meanie cosplayers are just so abusive to you guys all the time. My friend has PTSD now because a curvy girl asked him for a photoshoot.
>>
>>8895349
I meant the OP of this thread, not the original image.

>If I say "people who like chocolate are awesome" it doesn't imply that people who like vanilla have taste for shit, it just means that I'm not praising you at this very second.
I would be inclined to agree with you if the current culture wasn't suggesting that people who like vanilla are creeps, perverts and bad people. I mean, look at this board; every photographer thread devolves into "who's a creep, who's terrible, who has drama with whom". I haven't seen one that didn't turn negative almost immediately. So your analogy isn't completely accurate.

>>8895355
See above explanation

>>8895368
If a fat bish asked me for a shoot, I'd have PTSD too. I had to take some personal time after having to spend days retouching a bigger cosplayer's stretch marks, cutting scars, and bad skin. I don't have time for that. I want to shoot with people who make my job easier, not harder, and fuck you for implying I'm a bad person because of that.
>>
>>8895398
>every photographer thread devolves into "who's a creep, who's terrible, who has drama with whom". I haven't seen one that didn't turn negative almost immediately.

As someone who lurks most of those threads, the photographer threads on here are vicious as hell, usually because of fellow photographers throwing each other under the bus, shitting on each others' work, and labeling each other as shallow or creepers. Sure you have your bitchy cosplayers but the majority of shit talking is from your own community.
>>
>>8895405
You know that's not true.

While I don't discount AT ALL the backstabbing from photographers, I would say AT MOST the split is 50/50. Most of the cattiness is from disgruntled cosplayers.
>>
>>8895277
>>8895368
>Abuse photographers endlessly
>mock them for objecting to the abuse
>wonder why they don't want to photograph you any more

It's time for PGTOW. From now on, my only model is me.
>>
>>8895433
Might be different for different threads. Most of the vitriol in the most recent one (the Katsu photography thread) seems to be from photogs. But I agree that cosplayers do bitch.
>>
>>8895484
I am dying to hear some of these "abuse" stories.
>>
>>8895405
>>8895607

OP here. I've partaken in the bashing of photographers, but I reserve it for "photogs" who do really stupid shit, or post terrible work.
>>
>>8895607
That crotch shot idiot deserved the vitriol he got.
>>
>>8895368
>>8895277
>act all nice and sweet to your face when you're talking their pictures
>talk shit about you as soon as they're back behind the safety of their monitors

Every single time I'm on here I see people I know like and respect get shit talked about em. I live in fear that one day the internet hive mind will notice me.
>>
To all fucking cosplayers.
Take a cam an take your own damn pictures.
Things you need to understand:
I shoot what i want.
I have standards, if you don't meet them so be it. It's not like I want to look at ugly shit all day while I'm editing.

>>
>No one wants to take pictures of me!!! you should have to!!

literally the solution to this is just git gud. if you want people to take a photo of you, git gud. good god. when will misa on wheels get over her entitlement. the only reason shes even popular is because shes a cripple.
>>
Part of the reality of cosplaying is that if you're not hot, whether or not anybody wants to take your picture is a crapshoot. That's just how it is, and whining about it is a waste of time. I've spent hours and hours on insanely complex, detailed cosplay only to have nobody even recognize it but spent 30 minutes on a joke cosplay before a con and be constantly stopped for pictures.

Effort =/= results. So just do whatever the fuck you want to cosplay and go in doing it because you love it and it's what you wanna do, not because you expect everybody to praise you, shower you with attention, and take your picture.
