I've been wanting to dress like this (and traditional mori) for ages, especially since the weather is finally starting to cool down in my area.

I've been planning on doing a thrift store spree before school starts up again, especially since I want to build up a better black/gothic wardrobe as well.

Although I am not sure why a separate thread was made for this (If you consider it mori just post it in the mori thread), but I don't know there is so much hate all of sudden for it. it is not sudden. strega has never been okay on /cgl/. it is not jfash. you can't search for the stuff OP wants to see using Japanese keywords on Japanese coord sharing sites, it does not have a presence in Japanese fashion publications or in actual Japanese street fashion. it is a western trend.

whether or not it looks good doesn't matter. it has as little to do with Japan as emo, scene, or faun makeup does. not every alternative fashion is related to Japan.

I can understand your points, but I do feel that overlap can exist. Although you did not explicitly state that this isn't the case, I am sure we both know that mori girl does not have to be the traditional light and airy colors for it to work. It can shift to a darker palette, but I guess how the coord is made (designs, texture, style, weight) regardless of the color, differentiates it from mori and strega. However, making it distinctly separate, may not be as easy as you are making it out to be.

I'm obsessed with GRAMM, anon,their stuff is beautiful. It doesn't pop up too often, but when it does it's usually pretty cheap. I've gotten a few pieces from closet child, and yahoo auctions. One trick I've learned shopping is too also search for GRIMM, the precursor line that the GRAMM designer used to collaborate with Naoto on. The stuff has the same feel, but because it's older it tends to be a bit cheaper.
The h.Naoto online shop is having a sale right now, too.

Another non-lolita here, mori is all I wear. Choco is very clear about what constitutes mori girl fashion in her book and on the original mixi community and honestly, your attempts to imply that only boring, uncreative lolitas would be so hung up on "rules" shows how little you know about the style. I've never seen anyone on this board try to excessively categorize mori fashion, only people who demand that a space be made for "dark mori" when it doesn't fit and actual dark-toned mori girl isn't different enough to need to be its own style.
