I know we have this thread from time to time, but i need some suggestions for my friend to help her avoid looking like pic related
she has every intent to lose weight, but in the mean time she wants to cosplay someone. she was suggesting pyro or fem heavy- and those are fine, but i don't know if i should encourage it because she hasn't cosplayed before and i doubt she can make something as elaborate as pyro.
suggestions? big gulls, what have you cosplayed in the past?
"Curvy" Hilda from Shadow Hearts 3.
Hell you could even go as "Slim" Hilda with her.
I have this one. I thought she did it pretty nicely - the prop is well-made.
Tamako from Silver Spoon
No, "slim" and "curvy" are literally what they are denoted as in-game.
Her gimmick is "calorie counting" of all things--too many and you become a physical damage fatty, too few and you become the skinny caster. Sometimes you are a bat. It's cute.
it's so tiny, here's the big version
yeah i thought the minigun was pretty well made
must of been a pain to lug around
i guess if you don't wanna make one you can make the sandvich (please do not carry around a real sandwich with you all day, that would be gross) instead and still be recognizable
that female version is really slimmed down, heavy isn't that thin
Telma from Twilight Princess
She's next on my cosplay list.
ill post a few- overwatch hasnt come out yet but it's a great resource to find girls with different body types. i'll post a few suggestions
mercy from overwatch as well. not sure what her exact size and weight distribution is, but one of these should be suitable
and zarya from overwatch
also pretty cliche large girl cosplay, but rose quartz or amethyst from steven universe
She's an hourglass under that outfit, which is a shame because outside of Zarya all of the women of Overwatch have pretty much the same silhouette.
Honestly surprised they haven't been badgered by the SJW crowd yet.
true, but with all the padding she wears, she gives a larger silhouette and someone larger could easily cosplay her. and she does have larger hips, boobs, and arms than someone like widowmaker, for example. and honestly i feel the same- i like seeing diversity in female designs from a design standpoint (plus girls like mei are definitely my type) but a lot of SJW types go overboard by adding unnecessary lumps, stretch marks, etc. it's stylized, they dont need to have photorealistic bodies. overwatch has great diversity, but i feel like people are still going to complain/make random characters fat/black/etc (sorry for OT rant)
This bothers me so much. I hate when people do this 'realistic' bullshit. Its a fucking fictional character for christ sake. Nothing realistic needs to be a part of it. Its shit like this that makes animators and artists want to kill themselves.
yeah, it kind of defeats the purpose of it being stylized- in reality, a girl like mei would probably not have perfect smooth skin, but since she's a cartoon, there's no reason to add cellulite, stretch marks, etc. its the same reason she doesnt have two clearly defined lips like an actual human- she's stylized, and some features are left out for ease of drawing and cohesion of style
This also grates me when I hear tumblr bitch about Disney characters or Miyazaki characters. This is art. Nothing is supposed to look hyper realistic unless you are looking at video games that specifically do this shit or even - mostly - indie animated videos and movies. I would LOVE for tumblr to magically shut down out of nowhere.
With all the stereotypes in the game (US guy is a cowboy, korea is a girl that professionally played video games) you'd think the climatologist would have been Canadian or from Greenland.
>tall bulk girl that is neither super manly, inappropriately moe, or fetish-fat
thank you anon
squirrel girl isn't huge but she has a pear shaped body in the new interation
i find squirrel girl's new design adorable and i love her pear shape, but there's something about the faces that seems off. her face suits her since it seems very squirrel-like, but everyone seems to have the same face, almost
>a lot of SJW types go overboard by adding unnecessary lumps, stretch marks, etc. it's stylized, they dont need to have photorealistic bodies. overwatch has great diversity, but i feel like people are still going to complain/make random characters fat/black/etc (sorry for OT rant)
While I absolutely agree with you on this point and am not wishing for a classic twitter witch hunt on the devs, would it really kill them to make an old, grizzled, or otherwise unattractive woman? Or have made one of the robots or non-humans female-leaning? Zarya is JACKED, but she is by no means ugly.
I don't necessarily disagree, you make some good points and they do add too much, but it would be nice to see a character that's supposed to be fat but doesn't magically have an hourglass figure.
but that's just tf2's art style
literally all the mercenaries except spy have enormous hands. spy is the only one with hands proportionate to his body size
nah i was referring to the female skin, not the cosplayer. it would be dickish if i was talking about the cosplayer, that's honestly one of my favorite female tf2 cosplays (excluding already female characters like the admin and miss pauling)
I just don't like when people make the genderbent models look nothing like their male counterparts
Sage for OT
Pokemon has a lot of options for bigger women.
There's also literally hundreds of possibilities for gijinkas, and almost every pokemon could be designed into a costume for a bigger woman.
I don't know if this counts but Super Taruko isn't as hourglass-y, and is supposed to be cute I guess
>What. She's thin, just wears baggy clothes
Easier for someone who isn't super skinny to pass themselves off as a character.
>Wow, fatties really are delusional, aren't they.
Large oversized clothes. Also, her shape as a yordle is more pear shaped than either Poppy or Tristana, so she would work great for someone who carries more weight since large skirts make it easy to hide the extra weight.
This is such an underrated big female cosplay. I guess the game isn't that popular though. I'm just kinda chubby so I find it hard to decide who to cosplay if I want to go off body type.
I actually really liked how even though she was capable of losing weight at any time (and did back and forth throughout the show) she made it clear she was more comfortable being heavier and didn't give a shit. Also that series was way comfy. Like, Harvest Moon university.
the juxtaposition of that minimally detailed, childlike face against that over-rendered adult-woman's body is so, so jarring. If she had a thicker neck it would look better, there is a point where some double chins wold actually be an improvement.
HEALTHY AT EVERY SIZE
Sandy's more on the muscular side of big, but it could work depending on your situation.
Gouda Takeo's badass mom.
Starla from Regular Show might be quite interesting to cosplay. It looks like it'd be fairly simple to do, but at the same time recognisable enough for other con-goers to recognise her. Plus I don't think I've seen any other cosplays of her before.
