I think it's fine if the characters are similar. Like a Link/Finn the Human crossover would make a lot of sense, because their roles in their stories are pretty much the same. People might disagree, but I think Princess Peach or Zelda crossed over with slave Leia or A New Hope Leia would also make sense, being damsels in distress and all.

But something like a Bilbo Baggins/Sailor Moon crossover wouldn't make any sense, therefore stupid.

As someone from Europe I really don't get the craze about mixing sources. Feels more American. I guess it's the creative freedom or interpreting a great fanart? Most of the time it just feels tacky and over-designed.

In Europe most cosplayers focus on being as close to the original source as possible and it's not as common to see crossovers.

It's the Wicked Witch in Elsa styled garb.
It makes sense because they had the same VA for the singing voice. Not to mention Frozen kinda grabbed the misunderstood witch genre lock, stock, and barrel from Wicked.

The better crossovers IMO are ones that are a specific pun or joke (like >>8715967 or >>8720190), or ones where the characters are dropped into another universe, like ___ dressed in Harry Potter robes. The infinite parade of Disney characters dressed in another character's outfit makes no sense.
