Lolita has stricter rules on things like silhouettes and coordination (balance of color and volume for example) Creepy cute is more diverse and free. With >>8686279 it doesn't really work as a lolita outfit because of the mismatching colors and themes, and the dress is better off as a gothic piece (that dress is also pretty popular from what I've seen so the fans of it are probably more uptight with how its worn in a coord). Creepy cute lolita is pretty frowned upon here too (for awhile, there have been arguments if "bittersweet' could be a substyle or if pastel gothic lolita was okay and it's a pretty universal "no"). Creepy cute lolita also tends to be fairly tacky.

"Creepy cute" was mostly frowned on because the girls who attempted it kinda sucked at it, mainly because it's difficult to find premade dresses that can be made creepy cute so girls ended up shoe horning clashing colours or prints into their outfits. The one lolita indie that tried to produce dresses for it is the one that made the Sugary Boners dress (their other release is a zombie cake print. I like the concept but their artwork is so bad)

Honestly it always bums me out when girls use a "it's not lolita, stop complaining" excuse, because it implies that the fashion is a dumping ground for rejects who can't hack it in lolita.

A part of me really likes the Sugary boners dress too but I agree with what you said/you worded it better. Many examples of creepy cute are very clashing. The coord with the MmM dress isn't the worst I've ever seen but I do see where it has faults.

All that being said, I feel like the other thing that makes creepy cute lolita difficult is that many people would take pastel main pieces and then just pair it with black. The contrast was extreme and rarely if ever worked.

I'm still wondering if the anon who posted the mmm creepy cute did it because it's often the sweet lavender prints that got paired with black, so a gothic print would be different/not falling into that mistake. I think the main issue with her coord is that it felt like she wanted "a gothic creepy cute coord" simply for the sake of having a gothic creepy cute coord, the beauty of the coord fell by the wayside to that goal.

the MmM pastel goth is from a request to collageanon on tumblr to find a way to make a pastel goth coord with a gothic dress, rather than sweet in a black colorway like every attempt at pastel goth lolita is.

a bit different than creepy cute since the aim is to do goth with a softer look featuring pastels. the creepy cute dresses would be too cartoony or sweet for the look.

i myself am tempted to try to make a pastel-heavy coord that is true gothic lolita, if only to see more variation in the substyle and demonstrate the difference between "sweet in a black colorway with bright or pastel accents" and "gothic in a pale/pastel colorway."

I think it's a misconception that guro is just taking a white dress and throwing blood on it it could be so much more AND appeal to your want of mixing creepy cute and lolita... unless when you refer to creepy cute you mean ~pastel goth~ and not gurokawa/menhera. Keep pastel goth in bittersweet or whatever.

Aah, I see now, it's more like using pastels with gothic lolita than outright creepy cute? Now that it's explained that way, I can see it better. (I still dislike the colours she chose, but I'll admit I had lavender overload from the time when every creepy cute coord was any lavender print with black added).

I always imagine gothic silhoutte in a pale/pastel colourway to look like Victorian Maiden or Mary Magdalene, but I'm definitely interested to see any experimental coords you cook up.

I noticed it's very hard to do a legit creepy cute lolita coordinate, while gothic lolita coordination is way easier and with not much effort i can create simple but cute or elegant coords. Instead creating a creepy cute coord, especially with a AP pastel print in black is a tad difficult, i'm trying to create something with Dream Fantasy AP salo but it's a challenge, everything i try looks a bit dull. I don't like to mix too much colors on lolita except for accessories (hair, necklace, bracelets).
There are some creepy cute prints lately, like the taobao indie prints with demon angel cats (idk the name of the brand) and this in pic related from Royal Princess Alice, my impossible dream dress. At least with this jsk i don't have to mix pastels, i can coord like a gothic coordinate with mostly black items, boring i know.

AP 's forays into more gothicy dresses do well for this style- so do Royal Princess Alice prints. I just love combining colors and motifs/themes from all my pastel 90s shit with the gothic lolita that followed my teen emo phase.
