Selfpost here! I'm doing a shironuri x lolita coord for a halloween meetup. This was mostly a test, trying out the base, lashes and contacts. I plan on doing something more elaborate with the make-up. (I fixed the actual coord too) Make-up suggestions would be appreciated!

Thank you! I'm trying to go with gray tinted colors (ash-ier purples, green ect since my coord is going for a dead/decaying look) I'm going to try some brighter purples near my eyes though, thanks for the tip anon!

Yeah I posted some pictures of just the make-up though! I haven't worn the full coord yet but I have it together on my dress form here. There's a few minor things I'm going to change about it, but what do you think? The theme is suppossed to be centered around Yggdrasil (norse world tree) in the dying/death stage. (aka Ragnarök)

I'm just curious, is there an unsaid rule about having clothing come to your neck, or covering it? I ask because I rarely see anyone who's collarbones are exposed. I don't really like clothing restricting my neck, would that look weird or out of place? Probably a dumb question, but it seems like it's a common thing in these coords.

I think it is more what your personal preference is?
I've have seen a couple of shironuris not covering their neck at all. But most of them paint their neck white or cover it.

usually the more militaristic/angura look skips covering all skin and only does the face. i covered all my skin the last time i did this but really it's personal preference. just pick one of the other though, if you want to cover all your skin, make sure you get EVERYTHING, otherwise it'll look weird
like ears, neck, back of neck, any of your chest if it's exposed, white gloves and tights

I honestly think covering all skin in white looks the best, however I did this recently for a party and it ia absolute hell. You can't do or touch anything when all the skin about your shoulders is painted white and you have gloves on. It's horrible but how clean it looked was so worth it
A lot of times when I see people wearing shironuri with seifuku or other uniforms, they only paint their face white and it looks more like a mask. It's up to you really.

Anyone have any reccomendations for a good sealing spray for shironuri?

also you want to shave your facial hair before doing this, otherwise the paint will just look weird. I'm female and always remove all little facial hair I have (with the exception of eyelashes/eyebrows) before painting my face so it's a smooth as possible. And I cover my eyebrows with wax and draw new ones on. Or if I use my natural ones, I cover most of them with wax and do short/dot eyebrows

Ok I'm the medical anon from further upthread and I wore shironuri to a halloween lolita meet but only after asking all other attendees if it was OK (and i still felt bad about it) And if someone asked about our style I was careful to explain what I was wearing was not the same fashion. It's just so OTT, the only times I can see myself wearing it is to cons and for Halloween
Also if you're like me and like to paint your neck too, be aware it WILL get on your collar and clothes. This is unavoidable, no matter how well you thought you sealed your makeup. I recommend wearing cheaper blouses/dresses, the blouse I wore was surface spell so I wasn't too horrified when I got back home and the inside of this collar was white. I got most of the makeup out though

On this topic: if you want to paint bodyparts which aren't your face without having to worry about rubbing off, look into PAX. I've been using it on neck/arms just so I don't have to worry about staining my clothes.

ooh thanks. i'll try that. on the subject of paints, i used mitsuyoshi greasepaint (because minori recommended it lol) when I went to my college's halloween party, and mehron clown white when i went out for Halloween, with mitsuyoshi 2way cake over them both times, and graftobian sealing spray on my neck. I can review all the products and compare/contrast if someone's interested

Tried out Shironuri a few times last month, including this look for a photoshoot...
I'd appreciate feedback, especially advice on covering eyebrows. The tutorial that I used when doing my eyebrows didn't really work...

Your wig and make up is fine, though, and just removing the huge bow and the umbrella would probably help. Idunno. It's hard to make out your outfit. Do you have any full body shots?

Here's a full body shot..
I was going for a Japanese-inspired look for the photoshoot, so I mixed some Japanese kimono items (children's obi, red kimono, kanzashi, etc) with some non-Japanese items (flowy black skirt & overdress, corset, vintage lace gloves & jewelry). And I did try to incorporate the typical Shironuri aesthetic of white face & neck, & covering all other exposed flesh.
I understand that the use of kimono pieces isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I did my best to try to make it not look so "cheap geisha Halloween costume"-ish and a bit more artistic.. But like I said, I'm open to concrit to improve my Shironuri overall, even if I never wear this coordinate again.

I know that obi in the front was a symbol of Oiran/prostitutes. Having it in the back didn't work with the outfit, location, and concept for the photoshoot.

I use a water-based paint as base, and on top a grease-base paint and it looks pretty good, but when I powder it (white setting powder) it turns my makeup blotchy.
Can someone help with this? It's all very evenly white untill I put the power on.It immediately starts cracking too.

You're probably not applying it correctly. First skip the water based paint. Second, apply the greasepaint by dabbing, not rubbing
Third, make sure the puff is saturated with powder before putting it on and make sure to stamp
Please watch minori's shironuri tutorial which I linked at the top of the thread for a reason, I used her method of applying paint and it looks good up close

Also I highly recommend the paint she uses in that, it's great and has a better texture than Mehron, get the larger size though, the small one was barely enough to cover my face and neck. It's available on rakuten here

Also why is the water-based paint not good? I saw (I think) Bazookistan use it and it looked like a nice base.

Dif. anon but water base is just awful on account of being waterbased. It's hard to seal properly and even then it will bleed and drip at slightest humidity. It's decent if you want to do a quick shoot and wash it off without problems, but even then it's shitty for white because it just isn't pigmentated (or hold it's pigment) well enough.

Mehron should be fine, though, just you applied well enough. Reposting what I said in previous thread
