What is this model's name? I love all th photos where she appears
>>8665857
Her name is Langzi (nickname Langlang?) and she's both the model and designer of Dear Li. Her IG, if you're interested: https://instagram.com/dearlanglang/
Does anyone know of some nice toned-down western-ish brands? Something like Artka.
so uh can someone tell me what mori is?
>>8666194
A Japanese fashion and lifestyle subculture created in 2006 based on the romanticized idea of a girl who looks like she might live in a forest, like in a fairytale. Fashion involves layering, natural colors and fabrics, and quirky designs, to put it simply. The lifestyle side includes things like a taste for photography and spending time relaxing in bookstores or cafes, but it's more about personal preference.
There aren't exactly rules like there are in lolita, for example, so it can be hard to describe. Read the checklist to understand the aesthetic. http://morigirls.livejournal.com/1122.html
A few questions for all mori girls:
What are your favorite mori brand(s)?
Favorite mori clothing style? (Boyish, Folklore, Romantic/Girly, Natural, Mountain/outdoors)
Photo examples posted*
What type of garment(s) is used most often in your coords? (jeans, one-pieces, etc...)
Favorite/Most used mori accessories?
What type of bag/purse do you commonly use?
Favorite lifestyle activities?
Favorite motifs/patterns?
>>8666456
>What are your favorite mori brand(s)?
Dear li on taobao. and some resellers on Aliexpress (not really 'brands')
>What type of garment(s) is used most often in your coords?
mostly skirts or dresses.

A floral backpack. I also had a biscuit bag from Swimmer, that I used a lot, but sadly it broke earlier this year.
>Favorite lifestyle activities?
none?
>Favorite motifs/patterns?
Floral, but I do not use a lot of patterns in my mori outfits.
And I also posted a photo of myself, hopefully more girls want to selfpost here!
>>8666500
This is so cute!
>>8666505
Thank you anon!

>>8666456
Any search terms or tips for getting more of a folklore look? I want to start a dolly kei and mori wardrobe and I feel like some pieces can overlap.
>>8668265
Maybe if you look for a more lighter dolly-kei look. You can also use some of the pieces for mori girl
>>8665868
Thaks!
>>8666242
that's so cool! thanks!
Anybody got a list or mori-able internet shops?
Aliexpress/Rakuten/ebay?

Aliexpress

Rakuten Second-hand shops:

These shops tend to have lots of mori-able or mori brand pieces for low prices.
Rakuten new clothing:

bleh, opps linked tresor twice
(I accidentally posted this in the cpk thread earlier whoops) is distressed things welcomed in mori? I'm making a dark mori coord and was going to make a distressed cardigan and skirt but wanted seasoned mori wearers opinion since it's my first time wearing it.
>>8666809
thank you!
>>8671317
personally I find Mori is a very innocent/cute style(?) and that distressed items do not really fit that aesthetic.
I do think that it would fit with Strega fashion. And since most Strega coords are dark, it fits your dark-mori idea.
>>8671887
NP!
Also, agreed.
Mori can be a bit frumpy looking, but at the same time retains a bit of elegance about it.
Tattered rags are not mori appropriate.
>>8665994
Seconding this. I know there's probably nothing but it's worth a shot to ask.
>>8665994
Artka isn't really mori, though a few of their pieces can be incorporated into the style.
That brand would be more of a bohemian style.
>>8671887
How is that kind of pants called?
How could I incorporate mori with lolita without looking like a frumpy try hard? Do any of you do lolita and mori?
>>8672635
Harem pants or sarouel pants.
What type of bags work the best with mori coords? My purse was stolen recently and I'm stuck with an old frumpy one until I get a replacement.
>>8673042
Typically unique or quirky style bags are recommended for mori.
Floral rucksacks, animal shaped bags, up-cycled types, lace baskets etc.
Will dump some images.
anyone have any mori boy inspo?
>>8676353
moriboy on Tumblr is a good resource.

>>8676391
oh my god bless you anon
Most mori boy outfits I've seen always look really cool until it comes to the pants and I have no idea why?
>>8676435
What don't you like about them?
>>8676473
I think it's when the pants are rolled up or they're wearing shorts but it's just personal preference really. I like the style of these pants except they looked ripped?
>>8677267
>>8677269
>>8677270
>tfw you love dark mori but live in florida
Anyone have some summery inspo like >>8677272 ?
>>8672641
I think the girl on the left really looks like the ideal combination. Taking the mori-style of natural looking fabrics, I think old school classic might be easiest to convert to mori like pic related's blouse and hair and headdress. The incorporation of furs and shawls, maybe less petti poof, would do best imo. I would also drop the usual matchy matchy color style of lolita.
I love this style but I can't find anything for hot weather. here, summer is really not and humid
>>8678927
If you live in a humid/hot area, it's best to coord with very light layers, using thin cotton & linen pieces.
I'll post whatever summery mori I can find.
>>8669393
>>8669091
I hope this works!
But I made a little spreadsheet with mori shops, because we were talking about it in past threads. We could use them when beginning a new mori thread.
If anyone has shops to add to it, let me know!
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NCJ1DLKvk-2zwPyfacmIQYiaA490bsxTlXirSWeFD3w/edit?usp=sharing
>>8682686
we have the taobao spreadsheet for that, why didn't you just add it to there?
>>8682734
I had the feeling a lot of people look for mori shops in these threads. So to put all the different mori shops in one spreadsheet would be handy.
Also I tought the taobao spreadsheet was only for taobao stores? I wanted to add Aliexpress and Rakuten stores. And also American/European stores.
>>8682759
Definitely a good idea, as this gets asked in pretty much every mori thread.
Are there any ebay shops that sell mori? Washington state has a weird ban on Aliexpress shipped items.
>>8684737
I would just suggest searching mori and looking through the results. Often shops only sell one or two things that may be mori.
>>8671317
>>8671887
>>8672089
I kinda disagree, as mori girls are meant to look like they are in the forest, so I imagine something would get caught on a tree at one point. Though it'd depend exactly on how the item looks, I guess.
>>8689152
The Japanese style explicitly says that it's not supposed to represent a real forest, just a fantasy version of one. Only westerners seem to get hung up on this dumb idea of practically needing to be able to hike in the clothes.
>>8689217
It's like you didn't even read the comments they were replying to
>>8689222
Are we not talking about the aesthetic? Whether or not something would realistically get caught on a tree in a forest, that has nothing to do with distressed items suiting the fashion or not because mori girl isn't based on a realistic idea of the forest.
>>8689217
This.
>>8682686
has anyone bought specifically bought from Say-Buy on aliexpress? I can't find any reviews
>>8691860
I've purchased from them before, no issues.
Can I get some more Boyish / Yama styles? Thanks!
>>8693105
Will dump what I can find.
Also http://www.yamagirl.net/fashion/ is an active Japanese fashion/mountain community, that might give some additional inspiration.
Ah, a most appropriate captcha... "select all images with mountains"
>>8691860
Bought from them twice. First one arrived without problems. They even lowered the value and marked the package as a gift, on my request.
Second one is on it's way. Had to wait a while before it got shipped. But the tracing is working so far
does anyone have any dark mori inspo that actually captures the feel of mori? It's impossible to find on other social media
>>8695391
I can post photos of mori girls wearing darker colors, but typically it's never all black.
The dark mori concept was created by western girls on social media and that's pretty much why it's the only way to find it.
Have any of you seen this tutorial and what do you think of using this kind of scarf with Mori?
>>8701287
Scarves with mori are great, for layering and such but man that looks like shit. I'm flabbergasted at the amount of notes. At the very least she could have modeled that thing with a mori outfit to offset how bad it looks but no we get... Whatever that is. Have a mori outfit and scarf done well as recompense.
>>8701409
I think it might look better in a darker color and done better. Idk maybe I'm biased cause I love arm knit shit.
>>8701287
Looking up that particular knit, some of the examples would look fine with mori.
This just isn't the best representation...
>>8701475 I really like this scarf! The other one looks horrible and sad
This is an odd coord, but I think its truer to mori than everything else in the mori kei tag.
>>8703255
I like this too for some reason? Idk about the hat tho
What should I look for when shopping offbrand mori cothes?
>>8703306 here,
Sorry for double post, and what brand itens are wrothy the money?
>>8703306
It's close to the folklore look for mori.
The hair color just doesn't fit mori aesthetic.
>>8703255
I feel on the fence about this coord, from the unnaturally colored hair that mori tends to avoid to the color palette which strongly reminds me of yama. Ethnic clothing and prints are definitely a facet of mori, but that aesthetic is a little overpowering here for me.
Regardless, I would take something like that over uninspired stuff like this that doesn't even seem to understand the gist of the fashion.
>>8703430
The first photo looks more like natural style.
Loose one-piece, undershirt, cuffed denim, not ott.
The footwear is ok, jeans could be longer & less fitted.
Natural is similar but tends to be less ott than mori as it's target age is 30-50.
>>8703476
She called it mori (it's from Tumblr, just crossed my dash), I just wish people would learn the difference. And I didn't think it was great even for natural-kei, mostly for the reasons you mentioned.
>>8703492
True it's not the best representation, and people do seem to cross the styles up easily.
Coord snap user mugi is a good example of youthful natural style.
https://coordisnap.com/mode/user/index/fesQk8
>>8703255
Please explain because I could not disagree with you more.
She looks more like a hippie who has a go with layering. The hair, the busy scarf, those shoes and that tassle. It is in no way mori like it was ment in Japan.
It is not ugly like some in that tag, but she got lost along the way. And with that kind of skirt, it has more of a natual-kei vibe.
>>8703620
It's not mori, period. I'm guessing the other anons just like the outfit or whatever, it makes my eyes sting, personally. Saying it is mori or even like mori because mori has layers and uses ethnic themes sometimes is like saying punk fashion is like fairy kei because they both feature short skirts and bright colours(feel free to insert better analogy here, it's super early and I just woke up). Saturated and/or neon colours, The plastic like raver type footwear, the hair, the garments, it all screams new age hippy, in-a-field raver on shrooms. Ironically, as plain and uninspiring the pic in >>8703430 is, the photo on the left (not so much the one on the right) is actually more mori than raver hippy pic, it needs less adjustment; add some accessories and styling (like Mugi) and it's fine. natural shares more aesthetics with mori than raver hippy wear that's for sure
>>8703402
Since off-brand & even brand can be hit or miss, your best bet is to check around for reviews for the pieces you want to buy.
If you want clothing that's going to be durable and last, stick with pieces made with 100% cotton, linen, and wool. If you shop taobao, look out for items listed as "cotton textured", as its usually low quality polyester or some type of blend.
Fabric names in Chinese & Japanese.
Chinese
Cotton 棉
Hemp/linen/flax 麻
Wool 羊毛
Japanese
Cotton コットン or 綿
Hemp/linen/flax リネン or 麻
Wool ウール or 羊毛
For me the best quality brands are: SM2, Crisp, Cawaii, & Par Avion.
Japanese mori brands are dying off, reverting to natural or other styles, so soon taobao, thrifting, or buying from natural brands will be the only option.
Any ideas or links for cute mori bags?
I love this style but as a guy its pretty hard to get into huh? I walk into stores and see 4 or 5 things that would work for girls, then mens section is all the same crap.
I understand the basic look with tones and saturation... but the luckiest i get is a knit sweater.
>>8704731
even just full cotton or wool is hard to find outside of h&m
