Do you think it would be acceptable to use fluffy jumpers with bunnies on them in larme? I bought two recently - a white one with two gray bunnies (with the backs of the bunnies on the back as well as pom poms for their tails) and a pink one with a very big head of a bunny in the middle. Combining pastels with fluff and bunnies I thought it would work great with larme but then I realised that most knits in larme tend to be more discrete (in terms of graphics) and usually just use tshirts with a but of writing at most. What do I do, how do I work them?

Also, I'm thinking of making a brands list with google spreadsheets like the taobao thread lists. What information would you want included? Right now I'm thinking official site, blog, twitter and instagram links, does the brand offer international shipping, and a section for reviews (which will probably remain blank for the most part unless we start getting some English reviews). Anything else that would be useful? I would also include crossover brands in another section (like himekaji brands that have Larme pieces).

I was also thinking of making an FAQ but I know I'm going to get tripped up on the whole "what is Larme?" question. It's been expanded on many times in these threads but people still don't seem to get it and I don't know how to further explain it.

Ok, here's what I've done with the brands list so far. I'm sorry that there's not much yet, I was mostly working on formatting and on what sections to include. If you have any suggestions on what you would like to know about each brand, let me know or put it under suggestions.

If anyone wants to help tackle the FAQ, let me know. "[email protected]" I've already added you as an editor. I intend to include at some point an explanation of Larme kei (probably a combination of various explanations from Larme threads past), mirrors of the k.i. video, maybe some other little Larme videos I've found in my searches, some of the general larme tumblrs or blogs (definitely yours, larme-kei.tumblr), maybe the partial scans list (I will never post full scans so please don't ask). Anything else anyone would want to know or have all in one place?

For now the brands lists are open for editing. If it's abused I will turn full editing off. I really don't want to have to do that though, I think it's better if we all contribute.

I also broke them into two categories, Larme brands and borderline brands. I'm not sure if this is the best terminology, but I wanted to make the distinction so that newbies don't, say, go buying up a ton of Liz Lisa thinking it will work for Larme when only some of their catalog is appropriate. Do you guys want it a different way?

Would anyone be interested in a models tab? For all their social media accounts?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated as well.

(If someone wants to help make this pretty but still functional, let me know. I'm not too good with this stuff yet.)

First of all - thanks to the anons for making such helpful spreadsheets and always giving advice!

I'm thinking about making an order from DreamV/Mon Lily, since it's pretty cheap and the quality of their products is pretty good.

What do you anons think of the items I picked out? Is it a good starting point? Are there any other basic items I should grab? (I know the plaid dress probably isn't Larme - but it's cute as fuck anyways.)

I think it works for an exaggerated, stylised look, in print at least. I think it would be a bit awkward in person however.

That said, I think it's refreshing to see fuller lips on Japanese models, it's actually quite unconventional and somewhat 'out there' by regular Japanese beauty standards.

I can't find any picture examples of very short hair but I have seen quite short, above the chin bobs appear in larme here and there. Honestly though, the best thing you can do is go to the thrift store and find some items in your size to customize, if you're going the secondhand route. Buy a skirt and cut out some hearts in the bottom, add some ribbon to the collar of a shirt, buy an old ruffley pillow and make it into a bag... Hell, this shirt from Mon Lily (pic related) would be so easy to replicate if you got a lace shirt for a few bucks and added a pom-pom and neck detail!

I'm not the most DIY inclined, but even I could probably throw together this stuff with a few minutes spare time. Probably your best bet!

I think the skirt design is from a private boutique called Very Brain in Osaka, and the skirt in particular may be by Very Brain × CANNABIS LADIES (hmm yeah, I know). Cannabis ladies have a store in Harajuku. From what I can tell, the skirt sold out pretty quick and you had to make reservations for it.

The theme of the stores seems to be girly and sensual/coquettish, with sometimes light kink, pin-up or bondage stylings and themes. You can buy Alberto Vargas pin-up merchandise there too for instance.

I like the fact that larme doesn’t shy away from sensuality and embraces adult themes, if only in a rather playful and quite classy way. It's certainly refreshing compared to the 'pure maiden' type image of more childish fashions that are still worn by older teens and younger grown women.

Well I think you should do whatever you want since larme isn't a fixed style and more of an aesthetic with some overlapping themes. However, if you're really set on capturing current larme looks, I would suggest a very natural looking wig (not the typical lolita or cosplay looking kind) in a dark brown colour. The sweetheart wig you mentioned is decent but it still ultimately looks like a wig in my opinion.

Something like pic related could work well I think, plus they can be trimmed and styled with heat if needed. Also if you wanted to work with a more afro look, I think afro puff type styles could be really fitting to larme, I'd love to see it actually.

Here's a thought; somebody in this thread or another couldnt see the correlation between cult party kei and Larme styles (I think we should be using plural for obvious reasons). Larme magazine pretty much arose in 2013 during the time when cute cult pary styles via the Virgin Mary and Keisuke Kanda where prevalent in Japanese street fashion. It's a known fact that Larme is a style book that riffs off of the vibes (if you will) of what's big in sweet and girly on the streets at the time. I see so many cult party elements in Larme; anyone else? I have been tumblring/wearing Larme style for 2 years now along with cult party in harmony. Cult party is alot more textured, layered, antique doll, and so forth but the basics that style set down (lace, vintage, ballerina aesthetics, dolls, sweet girly with an edge) are definitely present in Larme in many ways.

saramari made this post today. What do you guys think? I don't really love the swankiss style myself and think it's way over the top most of the time, but it's still been featured in Larme. Kokokim and Miauler Mew not so much. I think Larme in general is moving away from Swankiss, so maybe it won't be considered a Larme brand for much longer.

I'd agree with the feel of the pictures and on the right being off for Larme kei; the middle two are just straight up not Larme, the top picture goes against the magazine itself which guideline has a statement against bright coloured hair "in lieu of calmer colours) so I see what she's going for here. the bottom picture on the right is the most Larme out of the right hand bunch but if you compare it to the actual Larme pictures on the left you can see it lacks. I'd have liked for her to go into a bit more detail. Swankiss is definitely a Larme featured brand but is her post saying those pastelly kawaii fluffy fairy/mahou kei type looks aren't very Larme? not necessarily that Swankiss isn't Larme? If so I would agree. Swankiss have featured more Larme-centric clothing and outfits in their Line (pic related) than the ones that seem most popular with Tumblr though so that bears thinking about.

I think the bottom two outfits/clothing items could look larme but they haven't been styled in a larme way - they're too much going on, too many hair sccesories, too much bright color in places etc. I actually think sara was spot on, to the point of giving examples that are similar but not the same. I'm not expert of course but I own a few copies of larme now as well as a whole bunch of scans etc and I'd like to think I now have a better sense of the look.

I especially love the slightly darker lame looks that have hints of gothic, as well as the black and off white/cream or pastels color blocking looks.

I don't think there is a certain body type, because there isn't a specific silhouette. Just stick to general fashion guidelines, for example I wouldn't recommend turtlenecks if you have big boobs or midi skirts if you are particularly short and have stubby calves.

Whilst I agree Saramari can pull of larme extremely well, you have to admit her face is abnormally long and horsey. I don't think there's any denying she'd look better if her face were shaped a little differently. Not that I'm saying she should change styles or anything like that, but 'cmon. She gets away with it based on her skill at coordinating, if she were bad at it everyone would be ripping into her face as well.
