All of you do love Lain, right?
>>2928200
Of course
>>2928200
y-yes
>>2928200
Of course. And I know she loves me, too.
>>2927685
Lain is daughter material, but Arisu/Alice is wife material.
>>2928200
Yes, I love Lain very much and greatly desire passionate intercourse with her.

Please don't be lewd.

Agree.

It can't be helped anon, that is just what mammals do. Reproduction is arguably the sole reason we exist.

I love this one, do you have any other variation of it?

Nothing wrong with sleeping.

I've got an album I made for her, yes. I love Lain and so should you!

Lain is Jephthah's daughter:
>34 And Jephthah came to Mizpeh unto his house, and, behold, his daughter came out to meet him with timbrels and with dances: and she was his only child; beside her he had neither son nor daughter. 35 And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he rent his clothes, and said, Alas, my daughter! thou hast brought me very low, and thou art one of them that trouble me: for I have opened my mouth unto the Lord, and I cannot go back. 36 And she said unto him, My father, if thou hast opened thy mouth unto the Lord, do to me according to that which hath proceeded out of thy mouth; forasmuch as the Lord hath taken vengeance for thee of thine enemies, even of the children of Ammon. 37 And she said unto her father, Let this thing be done for me: let me alone two months, that I may go up and down upon the mountains, and bewail my virginity, I and my fellows. 38 And he said, Go. And he sent her away for two months: and she went with her companions, and bewailed her virginity upon the mountains. 39 And it came to pass at the end of two months, that she returned unto her father, who did with her according to his vow which he had vowed: and she knew no man.

It's been a while but I don't remember Lain's father sacrificing her to Yahweh.
Is there any particular order I'm supposed to experience Lain in? I've seen the anime, and I'm not sure if reading the manga before playing the game is better than the other way around as far as understanding the story and potential spoilers go.
>>2933582
The stories of the show, game, etc; are independent of each other and completely unrelated unless you get into fan theories and timeline explanations.
>>2933593
Thanks. I tried emulating the game and had a weird feeling I was at a point in the series I wasn't supposed to be at.
>>2932482
whatever it is you're shooting up, I'll take it in bulk

forgot to post image

Now that that's settled, I'l ask another question.
Why is the game so much more dark and depressing than the show? It went from 0 to 100 pretty goddamn fast. I think it's actually making me sadder the more I read.
>>2928498
DONT LEWD THE LAIN
>>2933800
You could always ask the writer.

I don't think he speaks English at a conversational level but you can get Japanese translated for as low as 6 cents per word.
Lain is my secret paradise
I want to protect that smile.
The game is pretty depressing when going through Lain's diary entries. She seems so alone and sounds like all she wanted was a friend and to feel/be accepted, hence Misato.
>>2935045
I feel like that's what makes Lain so lovable. It's like all she wants out of life is what anyone wants out of life; normalcy, acceptance, happiness. You might say it's something that connects every human being on a fundamental level.
>>2927604
Debating on getting this as a wall scroll
>>2935874
That's pretty cute
>>2935150
Indeed. The anime was very much a "chose your own interpretation" sort of scenario but I felt the game leant much more towards the mental illness side of things.
>>2935890
I think it drastically changes the tone of the show/game if you consider things as happening literally or if they're due to Lain being mentally ill. The game would certainly be slightly less depressing if everything that happened was as it appeared, but assuming in both that Lain is mentally ill turns the show into a different discussion of its themes.
Personally, I think that the way Lain exists in the game is at least somewhat similar to the way she does in the show.
>>2935949
The game was depressing and it has some very dark themes that were a lot more obvious than the anime. But the depressing nature of the game just made me love Lain even more so. Sorry to sound cliche but it makes me wish I could reach through the screen, hug her and tell her it will be ok, but I'm guessing most of us want to do that.
What I don't get about the dialogue in the game is if she was wanting to join herself, and her dad in the Wired, why did she kill herself that she put online? (In one of the diary entries she states she killed her self online)
>>2935999
I'd guess that the reason Lain kills herself in the Wired is part of her trying to make sure that she's herself. As long as Lain of the Wired exists, Lain can't really be Lain. Of course, if Lain of the Wired has and always will exist in the Wired, then killing her won't do anything. By that logic, if there is no Lain in the real world, then that makes Lain of the Wired the real Lain. It's a sad, confused attempt at finding herself.
And yes, it's safe to say that we all love Lain and want to tell her it's okay. Arisu/Alice was able to do that in the anime, but Lain didn't really have anyone to do that for her in the game, which probably explains the difference in tone in the end.
Plus, second base.
>>It's a sad, confused attempt at finding herself.
With that in mind it makes it seem a lot more darker.
What did you like best, the game or the anime? Of course I like both but I find the game has that little bit of a lead because we get to see a little bit more into Lain's personality.

Lain is watching...
>>2936020
Probably the anime, mostly because Lain ends up happy with the world and herself.
>>2936101
Yeah the ending of the anime was sweet when she becomes content with the world around her. It was nice but bought a tear to my eye.
I love lain.
>>2937692
We all love Lain

And Lain loves you... for some reason.
I hope Lain is watching over me.

I do too, anon

Do not utter such falsities in here, Anon. We worship Lain as our highest goddess, and we know her scripture well. Our bodies are merely vessels, and in this age we shall not allow our bodies to restrict us. Use your computer properly and abandon the flesh.
