Probably, right now Shinji's no Okabe Rintarou, he's not smooth and he's very awkward with people relationships. A person like Okabe however can't help but make women fall in love with him, he can make even make straight men turn gay.

Focusing on peoples' interactions with one another does not = she's only important because Shinji values her, which is what your original post came off as.
Crack pairings are one thing, but people genuinely wanting to see a character who is important to them happy in a relationship that was heavily implied (whether you hate the rebuilds or not, they're canon to the writers, so they're canon to many of us) is another.

And no, I'm sorry for you, but the "writers" as you call them are not exactly what we could say AsuShin shippers. Anno is indeed mysterious, but Sadamoto is definitely not a supporter of it. If you have read the manga until the very end, you might know it.

And finally, as a great Asuka fan, I don't think she "would be happy" in a relationship with someone like Shinji. Not after everything that happened between them. Personally, I doubt AsuShin shippers are Asuka fans at all; considering they pair her up with someone who masturbated in front of her and tried to kill her twice, it rather looks as if they actually despise her.

I'm pretty sure she danced at the thought of Shinji being dead, while not even feeling guilty about her actions. Asuka's heart is as cold as ice and she has no qualms about it. Not to mention she mocked the anniversary of his mothers death just so he can kiss her, so Asuka herself could get her mind of Kaji being with Misato. The fact that it let to her downfall is rather ironic, don't you think?

On her first meet, Asuka slapped Shinji and his friends. 9th episode Asuka snapped on Shinji's forehead and then kicked him in the face when training. Slaps him when he informs her of Kaji's death. Kicks him repeatedly and pushing him into the ground.

Like I said, he also cooks her meals. How many boys would put up with her bullshit and still cook for her. explain this to me.
