What is your best memory of Haruhi?
>>2844283
This looks sinister.
Extremely sinister.
>>2845936
I guess it's gotta be either when the camrip got uploaded or E8.
The threads after we got surprise translated were pretty fine as well.
>>2845962
It's just dark chocolate, and you can see their heads still attached to their torso. Nothing wrong at all.
>>2845994
What exactly is Haruhi eating there?
>>2846247
whatever the celestials' red thingies are
I just finished the first book today and I want more. I already ordered 2, 3 and 4. I don't think I will be watching the a one though.
>>2845936
Watching Someday in the rain (for the first time) in bed. It was gloomy outside and I had a mild cold but damn it was comfy

Do you have any of those Surprise threads?
>>2849264
nope, neither of the current archives have them indexed for search it seems. They started around April-May 2011 I think, with some preview that got uploaded to fuel the hype

>"The story of the girl who became Haruhi Suzumiya"
What's that?
>>2858910
A story that was submitted to sneaker's grand prize and made it past the first screening this fall. From what I can understand the final stage is in May http://sneakerbunko.jp/award/index.php
The story is here >>2858310
>>2858987
I'm guessing this is a good thing? What does this entail, if anything?
>>2859131
Nothing really, it's just that if it wins there'd be now three series with her name on the title, kinda amusing. Though I'm a bit butthurt that it's not instead a new volume ;_;
>>2859144
What's the third?

There's no Haruhi in my classroom

nut
I think we should try to get some discussion going on /c/ threads.
>>2843426
This may sound weird, but I'm the guy who wrote the pastebin. Any way it can be improved?
>>2861548
I'd add the Haruhi theatres (I think you can find a link in the comments sections of bakabt, in the LN torrent), the short story random numbers and at least a mention of the three anthologies, though yen press published all of them in one. Plus the misfortune of kyon and koizumi.
Other optional would be the official games http://haruhi.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_Haruhi_Suzumiya_video_games
You may add some upcoming events of the series...although not much happening.
The only notable one is the NHK rerun starting next month. It doesn't sound a big deal, but I saw several japanese anime blogs mentioned this, so who knows.
>>2861745
>>2861930
Oh right, forgot to mention those, along with the annual events like tanabata.
I've actually been making a mega album by compiling stuff that I thought was good from these past threads (and some extras) http://imgur.com/a/VVJNV
>>2861930
I don't think much is gonna come from it. It isn't on the main NHK channel but a satellite one. Plus, I doubt they're going to get a timeslot for Disappearance on a broadcasting channel given that they'd need to air that if they want to sneak in new episodes.
>>2862186
Where is this from?
>>2862197
From Haruhi-chan, though I forgot where I found it.
>>2862005
Damn that's a lot of stuff
>>2862952
I'm up to 46~ for the old threads and I haven't even touched pixiv/danbooru yet.
>>2862005
>almost sure I've got most of them
>doubt still lingering
I didn't need this, I guess I'll check them other day.
Haruhisky's Haruhi is adorable
And while I'm at it:
http://getnews.jp/archives/1664331
A book called "World Trek English Communication I", intended for the kids in the first year of highschool, will be adopted for teaching in Japanese schools starting on April this year. The thing is, it's making a lot of noise because it uses fragments of the LN "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" so the students can practice their reading comprehension in English.
Or at least that's what I could understand from my meager moon skills.
>>2863989
S3 pls
>>2864221
I want S3 too, although I don't know how S3 can be handled well. "Intrigues", as the major part of the S3, is just a long ass prologue to the Dissociation/Surprise.
I hope Kyoani (or whatever studio) just make S3 a fan service festival, and then put their real effort to the last 2 novels instead.
I think I like /c/ threads a lot more then /a/'s

I wish we got more about how her days went in middle school, aside from the incidents that made her famous there.
that was confusing

OVA of Snowy Mountain Syndrome
27 episodes in non-chronological order of LN7 (main plot) interleaved with other stories, ending at LN8 or maybe 9
A movie for the big Surprise arc
Hi guys, I'm interested in doing a sort of 'Rise and Fall of Haruhi Suzumiya' video, about the franchise. I figured people as dedicated to Haruhi as you guys would be able to help me out.
What was Haruhi Hunting like? And how was the Yuki Nagato Anime when it was announced recieved?
And just how exactly popular was Haruhi back during its peak popularity at conventions and stuff? modern day sao and attack on titan levels?
>>2874121
I don't remember enough of Haruhi Hunting
>Yuki Nagato
Terribly. It was hyped up to be a 3rd season by a lot of people, and it ended up being very different from expectations. It didn't help that this was a completely new Nagato, instead of at least the Disappearance Nagato that we saw before.
>modern day sao and attack on titan levels?
Understatement. There was no such thing as a con that didn't have multiple groups dancing and teaching people how to dance the Hare Hare Yukai. There were torrents that reached 20k seeds. It was the thing of 2006.
>>2874121
Just saw this. And I'm keen to help you out.
Some questions: How exact do you want/need your information to be? Asking because I have a strong memory and recollection of a number of events as they transpired, but I did not join some popular Haruhi places (they were a few) The other thing is: I can only provide information/research from the English-speaking side. Haruhi hunting and the like, as I understood it, had a 4chan element to it, but the majority of the hunting, as well as the participants, were done by 2channers, and the Japanese. And product was pachinko.
I'll post more about this in the follow-up post.
>>2874278
It's not trying to dump a massive amount of information, just cover more general points over time.
I'd love a follow up post.
>>2874387
Sorry for the delay.
I'll try to break this up into two parts. Also, and since /c/ is actually meant for slower conversations and discussiions, I'll try to spread out my infodump. In fact, I might try making an /a/ thread...
...actually, and you know what: I'll try to spread my infodump over a minor imagedump. Not sure if it'd work, but, I guess it wouldn't hurt to try. And it would be better then making it in an /a/ thread that will most likely die too early.
>>2874814
tfw its been two days and no post
you wanna add eachother on like discord or something and we can just chat about it and the vid script or something?
>>2875652
Sorry for the delays, I've just been very busy lately! Haruhi means a lot to me, and I kinda want to get my information right, and prepare it well, before I post anything.
A discord might be a good idea: it could help maintain the Haruhi threads on /c/ (and maybe even /a/) It could also be something to add the OP of future generals.
>>2874121
>What was Haruhi Hunting like?
There was a lot of hype, it was a year after the LN's 10th anniversary and the site promised more things to come after the artbook got published. A few anons noticed the Sankyo logo in the haruhi hunting site and warned us, but the discussions and funposting buried them.
>And how was the Yuki Nagato Anime when it was announced recieved?
A bit of expectation, almost no one had read the manga back then, and they still thought it was just a prelude for more to come. To be fair I don't remember much about those threads.
>And just how exactly popular was Haruhi back during its peak popularity at conventions and stuff? modern day sao and attack on titan levels?
I've never been a fan of going to conventions, but in the rare times I went you could form a football team out of Haruhi cosplayers.
Sometimes, I still hope aBe yoshitoshi will draw Haruhi.
But pic related is a great Haruhi nonetheless. And the fact that there is still new Haruhi art, over a decade after it first came out, still gives me hope.
>>2876482
That was one of the most impressive works in the past year
>>2876482
>new Haruhi art
There's maybe one good image per 2 weeks, maybe one per month at times. There's basically nothing most of the time until Haruhisky releases something new.
Also we need a new thread.
>>2877198
Dammit I wish you waited a little. We could have talked about setting up a discord
