There is a difference between a rational dislike of Rebuild 3.33 and the irrational dislike that several people in these threads have shown.

I've said many times I found Rebuild 3 to be a mess of a story. I'm not a particular fan of the story the Rei only has part of her soul but I guess after the way Rebuild 2 ended there isn't much else that can be done with the story. Having Rei return and still be completely Rei without some effects to overcome would be worse than Shinji having to do more weird stuff to unify Rei's soul.

It's pretty much possible that Rei 1 was made on March 30th. Or maybe the project was started on 30th. Maybe it's actually Yui's birthday, or death day.
In Rei's case a random date to consider a birthday and celebrate that she was around for a year is better than nothing since she was never actually born.

Do you think children of unknown origin have no birthdays?
They celebrate a date they were found on because nobody actually knows where exactly they were born, but the whole point is to celebrate that said person was around for a year.

That's normal Rei though, look at the plugsuit - no red bauble. That said, Rebuild Rei up until 2.22 is fine in my book. We should be able to stomach some change given that it's taken seriously, which didn't happen in Rebuild.
