Probably not the best person to give life advice but...

It's still plenty early enough for you to change your focus with school, don't do something you hate. Even if you want to drop out for awhile or all together I'd say go for it.

I'm 22 and wasted 2 years of school because I was majoring in something I didn't want to, changing to something I liked has helped a lot; if I switched earlier I could have saved some time and money.

Your parents might be mad but they'll understand.

I'm not a psychiatrist but I have seen a lot of them. IMO she shows signs of avoidant personality disorder. She is just uncomfortable and anxious around people, as opposed to high functioning autists who tend to 'not get' how to act appropriately in social situations and often lack empathy, which Lain is full of.
