Haven't you just described Rebellion in this? I would think that a storyline built to continue from where it left off, though necessarily grounded up on its predecessor, would still have to stray into territory yet to be covered by the franchise in some way.

This time I imagine the new work won't focus on Homura nearly as much as it will on Madoka. Not that we won't be getting enough Homura in it. However, even if it's far too early for us to draw any meaningful insight into this new work, having only the concept movie (which by the way seems to have been reworked for the Osaka Madogatari exhibit, with some changes compared to the first one to be shown in >>2556737) to go by, the little we have been shown so far regarding Homura consists mostly of Rebellion's aftermath on her interactions with Madoka which surely has to do with the ballet scene, and then there's the teasing of a new confrontation pitting her against Mami once more. Which if turns out to be correct would leave them less time to burn retreading ground over a matter that had already been dealt with.

I completely agree it's going to be largely from Madoka's pov. She's the only one who can even reach out to and/or confront our favorite devil.

As far as I can tell, they don't even have a script yet outside of the storyboard. The scenes are increadibly disjointed and there's no context given for anything happening. I just meant is Homura going to live through this or not.

Well, what I can say with certainty is that if she lived through Rebellion, where the ending everyone would have expected when going in would be her being guided away by the Law of Cycles (which I guess we could shorthand as her passing away) but ultimately she didn't actually die, then it ending with her death now ought to be less likely an outcome than the one expected at the time Rebellion came out.
