True, not in that particular picture but I think Calne Ca generally contains enough feminine attributes to stop me from seeing her as a mere edgy machine. Usually Calne Ca is depicted with some uncorrupted parts resembling a perfect slender girl's(highlighted via exposure or posture for greater effect) and wearing strongly feminine clothing(schoolgirl uniform, nurse, kimono).

Also, I think sympathy isn't a major emotion Calne aims to elicit, rather she's geared towards evoking a general sense of aberration, decadence and disturbing eroticism.
Here's a sympathetic Calne though.

Btw do you see Megrim's girls as sympathetic? I find them too forcefully designed towards eliciting sympathy with their mutilations and expressions to the point where most of them end up looking like edgy machines that have a bit of unfortunate girl stuck on. Some are perfectly pitiful blends though.

The machine I posted is more beautiful to me than the girl. It doesn't look mutilated or broken. She doesn't look like a chunk of flesh in a machine. It looks structured and forged, something greater than human. Maybe that's just autism.

In that image the only human part is a head and it doesn't seem damaged in any way. I cannot say the same for the rest of Megrim's work.

She does look structured and forged but only greater than human in an aesthetic sense to me. Her center of balance is off with those tall thin legs, limbs look stiff, her weapon's end is blunt and that dangling head attached by too many joints is just a bad idea overall. Now this is autism, hah.

hey I love this thread. just want to see if there's any interest in a "battered but beautiful" kind of thread where positivity, good energy and joy contrasts with scarred, beaten, disfigured or maimed bodies. Yes it's morbid and possibly inappropriate so i was just wondering.
I really love the idea because:

>their tempered attitude inspires pride and self-respect
>their inadmission of defeat shows passion and motivation
>they refuse to be crushed, and laugh at small concerns
>you may wonder how deep the scars really go and ask yourself some questions
