Miracle of the universe

Just finished all of Oreimo finally. Just kept putting it off before. I see why the series and characters are so loved. Was definitely entertained the whole way through. How it ended felt like the "yeah I actually did it at the cost of way too much" ending. I'm not sure how to take it.

Even now I'm still torn as to whether he should have gone with Ruri or Manami. I have not touched anything related to the series outside the anime itself, so does the other ending(s) do any better from alternate sources?

The only thing that really counts are the LNs. You could watch the animated commentaries and BD specials first as they add a lot of stuff the anime cut and helps understanding the characters. As for who he should have went with, that's not really a question. Kyousuke's and Kirino's support for each other is one of the main points of the series, they both need and compliment each other, it would have been stupid if he ended up with anyone but Kirino. Especially not Manami who doesn't even love Kyousuke himself and wants to hold him down so he doesn't escape her normalfaggotry.

I acknowledge that he is supposed to end up with Kirino, because that's the entire point of the show. That's not my hang up. It's how they handled the ending. If it's gonna be him and Kirino, it's gotta be for good, not this "until we graduate" shit. Granted when you look at it, his relationship with Kirino helped him avoid getting in too deep with a crazy chick. But how it ended just feels like he doesn't have much of a future in regards to a lasting relationship. He had his time with his sister, and now everyone knows he's a confirmed siscon. His future relationships will all sink once a girl finds that out.

They didn't break up, it actually ended with Kyousuke finally managing to get Kirino to accept her feelings for him. The ending had to have some ambiguity because of the retarded censorship laws and the publisher's editorial policies.

Fushimi gave Kirino and Kyousuke the best ending he could get away with and dropped hints all over the place that they will stay together. Of course that's far more obvious in the novels and the anime did fuck that up a bit by changing the kiss,

which was supposed to be on the lips, and many subs screwing up an extremely important line (the renewal of the life counseling). To make it 150% clear the siblings are still together in the After Story that takes place 6 months after the epilogue.

Artists are highly neurotic people. Maybe it didn't turn out the way it looked in their head, or they changed styles and can no longer stand to look at their old style, or they grew to dislike the character/show, or they improved their skills and are embarrassed about their old work... Holy shit, as much as I love Kirino you can't help but feel bad for Kuroneko. I mean, she honestly loves Kyousuke and despite having to lose him to his own sister she sticks around as a friend, but then Kirino just goes and brags to her about all the times they fugged. Sunday was only one specific, recent example for Cuckeneko to bring up, this is true cuckolding right here

I have come to terms with myself and decided Kirino is best girl. She is literal perfection and a gift to this universe. I want to marry Kirino!
