Personally I always felt it was a scam but I can see it will go up if it is the only crypto currency to be used in the future.

Problem is there is nothing stopping other currencies to rise at this point and bitcoins are basically a way to launder money from drugs which puts it at even greater risk.

regardless of the reasoning, this move serves to signal to the market that the uptrend is still on. Shit got crazy in the run-up to 500 because a TON of shorts got squeezed and fuelled that parabolic rise. We since corrected, and went through the pains, and now it's time to resume the uptrend.
