I'm a student renting a condo/duplex. I have two roommates who might actually be retarded. They leave food in the oven or stove and leave the house while is still cooking. I'm terrified all my shit is going to go up in flames one of these days. The owner of this place does have insurance and we each signed seperately. But if the place goes up in smoke. Do I get any compensation or do I get shafted and all my stuff is gone?
Tl:dr idiot roommates. Maybe big fire. Is my stuff covered under insurance that owners have? They didn't require us to buy renters insurance.
Also I live in Alabama if that matters

Possibly the worst advice I have ever read in my life.

Just buy renter's insurance. It's like $100 for a year's worth.
I guess what I'm asking is should I purchase it or do most rental agencies include it in monthly rent?
You 100% always have renters insurance. its like 6-9$ a month. depending on how much stuff you have.

There is economics studying insurance. If you can afford to pay the cost, ie losing your bag, insurance ain't worth it.

Yea get renters insurance. It's cheap ($100 a year for me).

Get fucking insurance ... who's the retard? It'll be anywhere from $35 to $100 a year. It'll cover more than just your stuff too. Some have liability wrapped into them as well. Go talk to your insurance agent.
